“I would like to learn from the my Fathers how to praise/glorify your Holy name using the 10 stringed Harp. King David didn’t care about his throne when he was singing all day just calling your name….. Paul and them gave thanks to you while in jail until the chains on their hands broke off and the jail doors opened…..”
Sorry. I’m not really good at translating Amharic to English; however, just wanna to give you an idea of what she is singing :-)
Greetings from Australia, what a beautiful song. Thank You for putting it on youtube so people from other countries and cultures can see them. I hope to go to Ethiopia one day.
Before I die I would like to master the Begena and teach it to my children and thier children's children. Atse Tewodros Aba Tatek was an excellent Begena Derdari. So was Etegae Tayitu Betul.
I've read that this lyre she's playing is the same instrument played in Ur. There are videos of someone playing a lyre like this while another recites parts of the Epic of Gilgamesh. What she's playing and singing is better.
Hi! This is so unbelievably pure and spiritual and beautiful. I really feel this so much. To answer your question, I believe the instrument is called a Begena, an Ethiopian instrument that resembles a large lyre.
coffee lovers pay up to $26 per pound for fine Ethiopian coffees because they're willing to pay for high quality and great taste. Ethiopian farmers, however, often earn just 5-10 percent of the retail value.
I'm asking you to just sign a petition at Oxfamamerica org/starbucks and help change the lives of so many farmers. Help them they'll make sure you get your coffee every morning. Ask Starbucks to not just think of maximizing their profits by killing others.
As a Starbucks customer, I'm concerned about their opposition to Ethiopia's right to own its coffee names. I am asking Starbucks to honor its commitment to farmers by signing an agreement with Ethiopia that recognizes the country's rights to the names of its coffees. If Starbucks and other companies sign such agreements, estimates suggest that Ethiopians could see up to $88 million of extra income a year.
This is a very impressive Ethiopian Orthodox Spritual Song to be viewed & listened especially on fasting times.Thank you very much for posting this Begena.

This song is timeless. The feeling I get from this song is one I've been looking for; for a long time. Beautiful. What instrument is it?
