Congrats on getting the Japanese Master System! Looks to be in fantastic condition! I'm a big Sega fan and have always been partial to the SMS over the NES. :) The Game Gear you picked up looks in great shape as well! Wow! I don't think I've ever seen that BIOS screen before. Very cool! The Japanese cart art work is nice, especially compared to the PAL/US carts.
Quality pickups and I love the Asian master system, what a bargain! I seem to remember when the master system first came out in the UK it had those controllers with the little sticks but then phased them out. I certainly remember my mates pal console came with them. Nice collection building too
After watching that I've definitely got to get one of those Japanese Master Systems. I love that the controllers have the thumbsticks and that launch screen with the Space Harrier music is first class. As I don't have a model one Master System any more that Japanese version is going straight to the top of my wish list.
@gamerslivingroom Good luck on the hunt. I've been after this for a long time and they don't appear for auction very often, and when they are listed as Buy it Now they're usually a lot more expensive than £58. Since you say you're new to ebay, there's a feature called saved searches (search for an item and click "Save search") which will automatically e-mail you when new items appear that match your search.
Congrats on picking up a Japanese SMS. I love mine. Cool that you also have a Mark III. I still need one, but I'm alittle bit over-stretched as it is building up my games library for my North American (NTSC) Master System, and my Japanese (NTSC) Master System, as well as games for the NES.
Keep an eye open for an Othello Multivision made by Tsukuda Original. It's an extremely rare liscensed SG-1000 clone released in Japan only.
@shaurz It was made by Tsukuda Original in 1983, and came with the game Othello built in. It also played all Sega SG-1000 games, and it's own range of games as well. Sega was thus permitted to release Tsukuda's version of Othello on SG-1000 carts. Sega also liscensed both Hitachi and JVC to manufacture and release their own versions of the Saturn, but in Japan only. These are known as the Hi Saturn and the Victor Saturn.
Great Japanese SMS there, love that splash screen with pumping sound. PAL SMS pads in 1987 came with thumbscrews & the wire on the right too. Very annoying to use.
The power of FM SOUND on this BIOS ! You're really lucky having a Master System from japan. The FM Sound is one of the things I like more on the Chiptune World :) Congratulations !
@craigsheree Thanks, it's great to finally get a Japanese SMS. There aren't many Japanese exclusive SMS games, but most have better music with FM, and nice cartridge label designs. Also you can play SG-1000 and SC-3000 games which were only released in Japan.
@airrunner85 They don't come up for auction much. This one came from Hong Kong. There's always a few Buy It Nows, but they are asking for £150 or more!
very nice ! i love mine i was playing it the other month its such a neat video ! i play my mark III games on my SMS i dopnt take the mark II out the box. glad you got this finally im really loving this system as i played it very seldom as a youth but i truly love the games for it almost as myuch as the nintendo.
@vinnieblacklodge I love to explore the SEGA 8-bit game library (including SG-1000) and I'm looking forward to playing SMS games with FM chip support. There's a list of them at smspower, looks like almost every game released after October 1987 supported it.
Congrats on the Japanese SMS! Wow! That Mark III is very flat. Looks pretty sleek! I wasn't aware that the Japanese SMS had a rapid button. Does that allow for rapid fire in games? That Game Gear is in nice shape!
@johnnyjohnson Yes I think it is for rapid fire, but I couldn't get it to work when I tried it. The Game Gear has a few scuffs on the back, but is pretty good condition overall.
