  • I just started learning about Eclipse. How do I get more targets to show up. When I create a new project, only Android 4.0.3 shows up. I tried updating all the older targets (1.6 - 3.0) with SDK manager, but they still don't show up when I create a new project. Any suggestions?

  • @PsychoBoyJack11 watch cornboyzAndroid's first video on the tutorial. it has something to do with refreshing target display box. i think you have to apply the path where you extracted your android sdk.

  • At the time I am writing this, the api platform levels go from 3 to 15. Which should I do now?

  • The R.Java file didn't show up automaticly, how do I create it? :)

  • I can tell that based on the last video that 30k people gave up xP

  • 4:34 PANDORA RADIO window in the background... check out the 2nd radio... lol

  • When i go to layouts and then i click on main it exists me out of eclipse completely, any ideas whats going wrong?

  • most people who watching these videos are americans and indians

  • hw did you get to package exp ?

  • lol

  • just a note

Hdpi inside put pictures of main high resolution WVGA (480 x, such as 800), FWVGA (480 x 854) - htc desire hd etc

Mdpi inside the main put moderate resolution images, such as HVGA (320 x 480) - samsung galaxy spica etc

Ldpi inside the main low resolution images, such as QVGA (240 x 320) - various lowend phones

  • @965mods don't the images get re-scaled though for the screen on the phone? Are these folders just to help in case you want clarity that is not modified by scaling?

  • @dogyboog yes they do. its for defining different images for different resolutions so that they aint stretched.

  • Thank you for making a tutorial where I don't have to know java code already! You helped out a lot of people man. You should feel good about yourself.

  • im new to this so please explain and give the detailed step by step instructions...thanks

  • im getting this error after I create my project:

Error generating final archive: java.io.IOException: Invalid keystore format. What do I do. Please help

  • I am getting a variable error for the source that the system created. Can anyone help? I have red Xs next to .SCR and everything below.

  • Don't know if anyone mentioned it before, but you don't have to clean the project to see the changes. Basically any changes made outside of the Eclipse IDE are not reflected in the Eclipse IDE. You just need to refresh the package explorer (press F5)

  • Hi!! Is it possible to use some other application beside Eclipse??

  • Read first my last comment.

How can I see the emulator for the android 3.2?

  • Hi man, I relly like your tutorials, and I am just starting to follow your tutorials, so you are going to see a lot of questions from me. So my first question is that I am trying to do the same thing buy with android 3.2, when I try to run as an Andriod application it doesnt display the emulator of the tablet it saids like this:

    Emulator] invalid command-line parameter: Files\Android\android-sdk\tools/emulator-arm.exe.

[Emulator]Hint: use '@foo' to launch a virtual device named 'foo'.

    Please!

  • hi i've just started trying to go through your tutorials and i can't get my emulator to work, i'm trying to create a design app for android tablets, can anyone help?

  • dude, you effin rock!!!! ive looked everywhere for videos like this. ive been trying to program since the palm pre lol. nowhere ive been have i come across a tutorial that doesnt assume you know programming already. as i said earlier, ive been trying since palm pre,so im not totally new to the concepts and the lingo... i just need someone to explain certain things....and you my friend are that guy! keep it up!!!!!!!

  • I know C and Python, but unfortunately am not familiar with the Java language, would I need to learn that first to be able to understand your tutorials?

  • Hey man...so far your first tutorial was really helpful with setting up the platform....However when I got to the step to set up a new "Android Project" I got an error that said "Could not find C:\Program Files (x86)\Android \android-sdk\platform-tools\adb.exe!" I followed the exact instructions in your first tutorial when downloading java JDE, Android SDK and Eclipse IDE....I am not sure how to get past this....at :17 secs where u have all the SDK Build Targets listed, I have nothing showing up

  • @tfinnerty1124

I think I found part of the problem but still need some advice from anyone!!...

In his first video when we went to developer.android.com and went to the SDK download he downloaded version 8.0.1 which had the "adb" file included in the download. The only version that is available on the site now is version 11.0.0 which only includes the "lib" file and not the "adb" file that Eclipse is asking for.......

    ANY ADVICE?!

  • @tfinnerty1124

Not sure if anyone is having this same problem but if so...I figured out the solution...What you need to do is:

    1. Download everything as mentioned in the first video. Don't mind the updated version.

    2. Go to Start > Control Panel > System Settings > Advanced System Settings > Click "Environment Variables" > under "User Variables" click "path" > Under System variables click CLASSPATH > Edit > Enter dk_r3-windows\android-sdk-windows\tools > Click OK

  • i got a later version of eclipse and i need to add a workingset, im new with this program, anyone mind helping me out ? :)

  • This tutorial finishes when he wanted to set up the layout and i couldnt find the rest of the video, can somebody please help me to watch the rest? i thought i can find the rest in tutorial 3 but i was wrong :( any help please!

  • @angelsevil2002

he explains it in the next video # 3....u cannot have any capital letters in your saved .PNG file

  • It took over 5 days, but I finally got my emulator to load with Eclipse after tweaking my computers memory(cmd.exe) and stripping my computer of non-essential applications!! Yay!! Well, now to the next hurdle. I hope that I can successfully emulate your youtube tutorials on my PC. lol It only took 10 minutes for that baby(eclipse/android emulator)to load!!

  • @Detroitfarm lol, I was working with eclipse on a crappy laptop that I bought >5 years ago, so I know your pain. Also you might want to check out my new youtube channel, mybringback. They are basically the same tutorials, just better quality and a website that updates the source code to go along with it. Peace buddy

  • @CornboyzAndroid LOL, I spent #800 on building my own PC

  • @Detroitfarm Sorry to hear about your trouble. I'd recommend getting an android device to try your apps on. check used electronics sites like craigslist, ebay or my fav cowboom. At the time of this post they have Samsung galaxies for $100. great phone great price. good luck to you.

  • I also keep getting the "can't find main type" please help and put note in video as I have followed each step by the number.

  • thanks keep it up :)

  • Love the vids but right of the back when I run it as a java app it cant find main type. It runs fine under android app what am I doing wrong.

  • How do you solve the R cannot be resolved problem?

  • @LnDCreations

Check your imports. Sometimes Eclipse messes with it. Make sure to delete all imports that points to R.

  • PROBLEM: I am not getting the jar files. u no when u go 2 android 2.2 in the Navigator. Please help. ps its true u r like bucky from thenewboston except he doesn't make games :)

  • @Primeflare never mind i figured it out. you have to go to prject explorer not navigator

  • Hey, I'm just curious, after I made a new Android Project and clicked finish, it just went back to the main Eclipse window. Then when I go to the project tab "Open Project" is grayed out and I cannot click on it. Any idea why this is happening?

  • @Andyandhisboard blegh i got it. If anyone else has this problem, just go to Window -> Show View -> Project Explorer. This program probably doesn't default to have it open, so on the first use it won't display it.

  • for 2.1, is it still 8? sorry. I'm running the samsung fascinate and verizon hasn't given me 2.2 yet. :(

  • HI can you help me how can i add a blue tooth printer in android

  • @BaByTriniTy17 i need this :D

  • @DAZbeh2K10 Yea it's called Mono Droid It's in preview mode but I heard they will be releasing the full version in a couple of days. but I recommend getting started on it right now.
