  • Gnarly.

  • you are one of the 1st people i heard play that sparked my love of the harp ! nice

  • Hört sich an wie ein Frosch mit Lungenentzündung, lach.Ne ohne Scherz klingt echt cool.5*

  • the best version!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @seseinked

    There's a person with goodmusical taste!~Thanks! Jon

  • did i mention the hohner blues bender? i got on for 18 bucks at Gc and it is excellent, it's basically a blues harp with a spec 20 plastic comb made in china. ive been wanting a plastic comb blues harp for years and i love it

  • @fattrucker01 i use a big river plastic comb in my blues harp sometimes but the wood taste better

  • Well, I have had plenty of bad hohners out of the box, but I still think customized harps are just as problematical for a lot more.

  • Is your harp Customized?

    Very good!!

  • No. I am not a fan of "customized" harmonicas as they always seem to bind on me, so I just play out of the box harps.

  • i dont even recognize this as Stand By Me, buy a special twenty, nothing better, nothing cheaper, it's hard enough as it is without trying to play a 5 dollar harp.

  • It opens with the bass line to song and the melody starts at :20.

    "When the night.."

    Admittedly it is

a bit impressionic, maybe too impressionistic, but gosh it's solo harp

trying to do a song that we usually hear with guitar drums strings and vocals.

It is filled with improvisation that fits inho the I VI VIV V chord progression.

If you made it to the end, you hear that bookends again with that opening bassline, and returns to the

    "When the night..."

  • One, you don't even know what kind of harp he's PLAYING, and two, harps are all personal choice. I play a Golden Melody just because of the way it fits in my hand and the bright sound. Don't tell people what to use unless they're just starting out.

  • to begin with.....i was replying to somebody else asking what kind of harp to buy, advising them against buyibg a cheap harp, second, since jason ricci uses golden melodys they must be pretty good, but for me, i dont like the tone. i have recently discovered the hohner blues bender, it is cheaper than a spec 20 and just as good. third, youre an idiot.

  • I didn't say you can't use what you want. And I didn't realize that you were commenting on someone asking a question. All I saw was your comment, so I just figured it was on the video. My apologies.

  • u really need move like that :S ?

  • When you feel the music, you might move like that.

  • I learnt my very first 2 blues riffs from jons early video, one of the best teachers there is (my own oppinion) the XB40 is great for bending

  • que NOTaS SON?

  • i need to save up to buy one of them instruments

  • Save up? I just bought a Hohner in the key of C at guitar center, it was about 5 bucks...

  • depends on what u buy a marine band or blues harp is about 40$ new but stil cheap as far as insturments are and the most expensive ive seen is about 275$ but those are speciality harps

  • Most expensive I've seen is Seydel 1847 le at $1000. How many you want? hehe.

  • You may want to chk out Cracker Barrel restaurant, where you can buy a Honer Bluesband for 4.99. A very ulitarian harp, will work very well in pinch, but only comes in C. Otherwise Special 20's for 28 bucks @ Guitar Center. Bluesband can get you started.

  • Ebay thats were i got my instrument from for 6$

  • fantastic love the way u play

  • Marine Band!

  • Special 20

  • I am falling in love with the blues harp the more I listen to it. It has such a relaxing, country feel to it. Good job, buddy!

  • got good tone going there mate, i never did quite manage the art of accustic tone, i tend to rely too heavily on amplification.

any pointers on getting that sweet low tone?

  • yaaa that's good. could you send me some tabs for it? my mail is : palcia7@o2(.)pl

  • This is like a version alternative of the music in harmonica. I like it. Really. :)

In fact, you can play that music in key of C about the same. You really need make some things different.

  • great!!!

by the way: is the harp by horner?

  • I play Hohner harmonicas, though I would sound about the same on just about any of the harps.

  • oh yeah, and this sounds kinda like "Mac the Knife" too*S* "when the clock strikes, half past six, babe"

  • weeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Great job! Wish I could afford to come to your camp. Maybe I will win the lottery!

  • Sure this this a Hard one to play, thank you, will you play "Crying time" greetings from Germoney

  • Really nice solo! Check out my 13 year old son Zack's blues harp, performing with Kevin Kimball and Ralph Thompson, just type into the search box

    Room to Move Railroad

and his video will be the first to appear. Thanks

  • The craftmanship in this is awesome. But the thing that makes this great is the raw emotion and feeling. Nothing else need be said..Thanks Jon..

  • you scary me but it sounds nice
