Damn, this has all the RAWNESS that Zevon intended it to have. Great performance! Blondie is such an unsung hero in this business. I hope someday he's appreciated while he's still able to enjoy it. From Beach Boys to playing with the Rolling Stones and everything in between. This guy can rock with the best of 'em. God love ya Blonds!
I would give a limb to play half like Waddy. He is truly one of the greatest guitar players of the 20th century. If you don't believe me take a wiki read of his credentials. That's if you're deaf and you haven't noticed his play. Damn I wish I'd been to the Joint just once and seen him play. KEEP ROCKIN'WADDY!!!
@wishicudplaylikethat Been there, seen him there, got to sit in on the warm up when the bar was empty, and meet the man himself backstage at the set break--it was AWESOME.
@stableshadow Hey man, lived in a commune in Harrow, London, England, with him and the rest of the South African band at the time, called the Flames!! Have known him since he was 14 ! He's a darling.
@wishicudplaylikethat I think what makes Waddy so great is that he plays the song, rather than trying to be the song. Waddy has impeccable taste when it comes to playing. A lesson for all of us guitarists.
Is this just a coincidence that Waddy Wachtel played on Brian Wilson's I Just Wasn't Made For These Times documentary soundtrack on and on a couple aborted Beach Boy sessions from the 90s and that Blondie Chaplin was in the Beach Boys for 3 years in the early 70s?
This kicks!

Blondie does Warren Zevon well. His best lead vocal (in my opinion) is Sail On Sailor with the Beach Boys.

If you gave a limb, it would then be impossible to play like Waddy. Yeah...pretty much impossible.
