A hidden gem indeed. Nice to know what the Japanese opening looks like. Thanks. The western opening is quite an improvement I think. Are there any more differences between the different versions? I always feel a bit sad for the Japanese they never got to see improvements made in western releases. Then again they get to play the uncensored versions. And some games aren't even released over here.
Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great games such as Illusion Of Gaia. It’s up on my channel ORTmusic to check out and download!
@moonlightkisu Good comment. Yeah, nothing wrong with this game. We don't need it remade in HD. If people want to play IOG, they'll just have to learn to like the good ol' 2D graphics. My favorite game ever. Thanks for posting.
@moonlightkisu Ah dude...you brought up a sore subject with me. Why most new games suck. Newer games usually fall into 2 categories...1)For 3 year olds, soccer moms, and grandparents or 2) For fanboys who have taken video games out of context and they are now their life instead of a hobby...AS GAMES USED TO BE! There are still some good games. For instance, I LOVED the new Donkey Kong Country game. The game was challenging but fun as hell. But nothing will ever top IOG except maybe Terrangima.
Enix published IoG in Japan as a 3rd-party, but Nintendo published/promoted it in the US.
A ROM dump of the Enix's early US beta titled "Soul Blazer II" leaked onto the Net. Nintendo's localization team changed the title, some names, etc. The leaked ROM was misidentified for years. I noticed that it runs @ 60FPS in an emu, not 50 like a Eur game should. I contacted database maintainers Cowering & Nach with my findings. It's now properly identified as "Illusion of Gaia (U) (BETA)".
i can't believe i'm just playing this game for the first time now, truly a great video game. feels like it was made by people that wanted to create a memorable experience
Woah, I just completed this game today and... and... and... Whoa, I'm so touched :O ! This games is so awesome! So many great moments, it's hard to describe. There aren't many games that touched me like this one. I'm glad I discovered it!
los japoneses juegan a los juegos de a 2 años antes q nosotros es una pena, q grandes recuerdos me trae este maravilloso juego, me hace recordar la magia de los videojuegos, a beautiful game with a beautiful music
not publicized at at all when i first got it, saw it in a magazine when i first got my snes and i was soo young. it looked fancy. bought it and have been in love with it ever since!
I will be honest I found Soul blazer to be tedious and to have not much in a way of a story, but Illusion of Gaia is a far superior game in many ways and is an underrated SNES game that I believe is up there with the best the SNES has to offer, including Chrono Trigger, FFVI(3 but I hate calling it 3), Super Metroid and others....
This game was awesome, i'm waiting for its return on Wii's Virtual Console. And the title screen is simply great on Japanese version, like always ;). Was it the only difference between the Japanese version and other countries release ?

@thetrophyone : exactly, besides old school classics are better than most of the fancy shit we have now. It's just the way they were intended to be.

Beautiful! Ilusion of Gaia and Terranigama was made with love you can sense it in the music.

@quetamami I also love the music in Enix's "Wonder Project J2". It's epic, and clearly from the same sound team as IoG.

@MagusX1 : I agree, soul blader to me didn't have a great underlying story.

I had to go find the website cause I forgot what it was when I first posted my comment regarding the ost.

But look up "Galbadia Hotel" and you can find all the songs from this game (and a massive load of other games).
