this is wrong. in theory, they should last 4 times longer at most. in reality, cfl's burn out prematurely due to overheating. i know of some of the first (Edison) lights that are still on since they were installed in the early 1800's! now that's long!

Yes some rooms look better with yellow some with blue some with bright white. That doesnt mean I prefer light bulbs. If anything it shows how superior CFLs are since they come in many different shades and flavors. Nice try

@stickedU do u know why they're TRYING to improve the quality of cfls?? Cuz they know that MOST ppl hate cfls and prefer edison bulbs. if u can seriously tell me that cfls have the same exact color as incandescents, then ur eyes need serious checking. incandescents with more energy effiency are already on the market. And even IF they were to ban ALL incandescents, it would be useless cuz instead of in stores, edisons will end up in ppls homes. Cuz MOST ppl are stocking up.looks like u lose again

@noreaga12326 incandescent bulbs will never be as efficient as CFLs plain and simple. Halogens arent as efficient nor do they have the long life that CFLs have so they are inferior. The only light that is more efficient is the LED.

Light bulbs are no longer the only bulb that gives off soft white. CFLs and LEDs do too. I know someone who works at a home improvement store they say 60 watt CFLs out sell Light Bulbs. CFLs= 45 per week annual sales. Light Bulbs=20per week. So you are wrong. Everyone I know has filled their homes with CFLs get over it, light bulbs are a thing of the past. You lie when you claim everyone is stocking up on them.

@spiker27a This is not true. You most likely bought the daylight bulb and this does have the gloomy look. However if you purchase the soft white which is the same light as the traditional bulb , you will enjoy CFLs. Try it you will be happy.

To the people always mentioning LED bulbs over CFLs in these video comments, have you converted your house over to LED bulbs yet? Though LEDs will eventually be great for widespread adoption in a decade or so, the current reality is that CFLs are the best bet for for energy efficient lighting today. With nearly 40 light bulbs in my house it would cost me close to 2 grand to convert my house to LEDs.

LEDs are great but still new. They don't have a great lumen/watt ratio as CFLs.

LED bulbs > Fluoresent bulbs > Incandescent bulbs

LED bulbs use far less energy then fluoresent bulbs, dont have any mercury, are shatter/vibation resistant, and have INSANE bulb life.

Most LED bulbs can last over 60,000 hours. Thats a little over 6.8 freaking years!

@unlawlee LED is NOT the future lighting. "Energy Efficient Bulbs" are the future lighting. Incandescents will continue to be available with efficiency. They are already in the market that has 30% less energy than the current incandescents and they're in the process of making them with more efficiency. Those are called Halogen Bulbs. im almost certain that most ppl will use these new Halogen bulbs over CFLs or LEDs. LEDs are not good for home lighting. they're good for parking garages.

@noreaga12326 First of all I am proud of my home. I have a nice well kept up home. Second you are brainwashed by Glenn Beck. The light you are talking about is the daylight bulb, which is blue. No I dont have those in my home, I have soft white CFLs which are the same yellow color as the Light Bulb, and this bothers you very much that your old dirty bulb has a competitor that rivals it in color but is far more efficient. Light Bulb=inferior deal with it.
