How do the views presented in this video reconcile with the teachings that there are severe punishments anyway for not doing the mitzvot as a Jew? I do struggle with the idea of conversion, I love Judaism but have many questions.

My Great Grandmother & Grandfather were Southern Baptists. They lived a long happy lives, had a great functional family... Everybody loved them very much.
Their family was very wholesome and wonderful. They both lived a LONG HEALTHY lives until she was 98 years old, and he 97. Grandfather died first and when Grandmother died a year later, everybody had content smiles about her life at her funeral.
