  • To all the Gauchos. Suck it up and be a man about it.

  • i love how carrasco acted like he was injured after. fucking pussy

  • UCSB fans play it out like they are so innocent. I have never seen a team swarm the referee like they did at the end of the game.

  • Wtf that isn't a punch...? Looks like he got pissed at the studs-up tackle and overreacted, pushing the guy. I'd say yellow for each, maybe red for the tackle if you're going strictly by the rules.

  • This is epic

  • worst call in the history of college soccer

  • that game was rigged and thats all i have to say about that! we all know ucsb should of won that game..maybe next time they should pick a ref thats not from the bay area...

  • @cangelkiller he isn't from the bay area. he's from the valley

  • what was wrong with that tackle?

  • @summerj0711 in the longer video you can actually kind of see the dirty tackle. It's hard to tell if the retaliation was a neck shove or a punch [while it looks more like the former]. Regardless, good acting by both players.

Great game by both UCSB and CAL. SB has great precision with their passes. Best live midfield match. SB players cornering and hitting the ref post-match was unacceptable though. While SB is a great team, they need to suck it up; the PK was deserved and so was the OT goal.

  • @PearWaffles terrible red card, provide said longer video please-------

  • exactly tvpolo9--Pac 10 is OVERRATED!!!!!!! Big West is rising, we're a soccer conference, not an American football conference, let's go NCAA get with the program, look no further than your own Cal Poly as a strong team, and deserving of more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • double-yellow, we win because we're better; 2 added morals:

to the NCAA and fans, keeps coming out supporting and spending money on men's soccer, we need better referees, neutral ones in post-season 2.) Us, Gauchos: do better at the start of the season so we avoid the away-second round scenario:)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • While ucsb can bitchnmoan about the ref, that certainly doesn't justify beating up the ref post-match. Everyone heard the ringleader of sb's fans/rally committee yelling (before this play) about how he was going to "murder [the referee] and [his] entire family" due to a previous call.

&Where's the REST of the play (or at least the 2-footed-studs-up tackle that everyone (referees/press/CAL fans) besides SB fans witnessed)--before the supposed punch? Do you only conveniently have 3sec of footage?

  • @summerj0711 Look in the description for the full video. It was a sweep tackle so studs never went into Carrasco. And no one beat up the ref after the game. There was anger and words exchanged but there were no fists thrown like some UCB fans like to say there were. As far as the "murder the family" comment, that is an ongoing comment used all season that really means nothing...just something said so don't get your panties in a twist about it.

  • Double yellow, Gauchos continue to outplay Cal and we win-------results with a proper referee-------

  • There is no excuse for a two footed studs up tackle. Period. There is no excuse for assulting an official. Ever. Why has nobody addressed this on this site?

  • @CoffeeGirl45 guarantee no one was "assulted--" Silva got the ball, sweetie, a big deal in our sport, and: we LOVE the sport at Santa Barbara, it's central to our lives, treat us unfairly regarding it, and you will see our passion:)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @CoffeeGirl45 The assault that you speak of didn't happen the way you make it seem. There were no fists thrown at the ref or anything. A goalie glove was thrown and that was it. The picture of a player that looks like he's pushing him in the chest is a "convenient" photo where the ref walked into him. There has been no video released of the after game event, only UCB fans/staff/etc saying what happened. And that is not a 2 footed studs up tackle, it's a sweep tackle.

  • @BigMikeUCSB a soccer ball was thrown at the referee too.

  • @uram119 Actually no. The soccer ball was kicked hard towards the wall. It missed the ref by atleast 20 feet. I was literally right across the field in the stands watching everything happen in the "melee". The only pushing that happened was when the Student event staff tried to restrain the players. A GK glove the Hayden threw off after the goal was picked up and thrown at the ref, but that was it.

  • @BigMikeUCSB i saw it too, and he picked up the ball and threw it at the ref. i know what i saw.

  • @CoffeeGirl45 at a high level of play, the excuse is that the sliding player gets all-ball; at NCAA level, I think you have it partly right, referees get involved there, but never is that a red, my call to be safe that early in the game, and assuming Carrasco of Cal was ticked about it--Yellow to Silva........ Again due to stage of game and bigness of game, yellow to Carrasco for retaliation, "Let them play!!!!!!!" to quote one of the "Bad News Bears" movies (Astrodome one?):)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!bwrc

  • Convenient footage. Per request, the UCSB AD as well as the NCAA have footage from the opposite angel which show a studs up 2 footed tackle, a shove in the chest (not face), the handball, as well as the physical assult on the refs after the game. Video proof is tough to argue. I would be quite concerned if I was the UCSB players or staff. This footage is currently not available to the public, but likely will be once sanctions are levied.

  • @CoffeeGirl4 IF such footage is available, then please post a link. Having witnessed the event from the "opposite angle" it is implausible that it would reveal the details delineated above. In the current angle it appears that Carrasco's right hand makes contact with Silva's face, thus, your claim about a "shove in the chest" would be an additional infraction. Importantly, there is NO EXCUSE for such an assault on the field, and the logical consequence is a RED card for Carrasco.

  • I go to Cal Poly and was hoping you guys would go far. Frankly, the NCAA doesn't take our conference seriously. I was hoping you'd do some damage and show them what soccer in the Big West is like. But it seems as though you've been cheated from a win here. The NCAA has ignored our conference this year. Irvine was ranked in the top 15 for a majority of the season, and Cal Poly had the 15th toughest schedule with 7 games against ranked opponents and maintained a winning record, yet no cup bid...

  • @Tvpolo9 YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • did you notice the UCSB player grab the wrong side of his head?! Shoved on the left side..grabbed the right! Clearly not a punch. Some good acting however by both players... .

  • @TheBlindasabat Actually he grabs the middle of his face b/c that is where he was hit. You don't see the forearm go to his nose on the other side. I can guarantee you there was no acting by Silva. Silva is not that type of player.

  • garbage

  • FUCK THE NCAA!!! we (UCSB) got screwed. this shit is so stupid. ref is a dumbass dat gave silva a red when it was clearly dat he went for the ball since he got it and he gets hit with both fists yet he still got a red card. STUPID REF!!!

  • You can clearly see from this replay that a) Silva played the ball, not the man b) Studs were not even close to up.

I can't believe how poorly this game was officiated, and furthermore, I cannot believe that any Cal fan or player could be pleased with the Bear's performance. UCSB dominated this game, even with a man down, this game was stolen from us. At least we can hold our heads up high and be proud of our players!

    Gaucho til' I die!

  • does any1 have the video of when the ref called "handball" ? Im SO curious to see that

  • DISGRACEFUL and DISTURBING! For those seeking the preceding part of the video it is posted on YouTube: "UCSB's Silva attacked by Cal's Carrasco" The combination of the RED card on Luis Silva only 20 minutes into the game AND the phantom handball call with less than 2 minutes remaining were major factors in this game. Playing 10vs11 UCSB was up 1-0 with 8min remaining. FURTHER ACTION IS WARRANTED!

  • Any word from NCAA about this game and the way it was officiated?

  • @awoooooo, what difference does the preceding part make? The guy should have been red carded for retaliating with a punch - plain and simple!

  • THIS MAKES ME SOOO MAD.

  • Comment removed

  • you have this part. What about the preceding part? Someone didnt start the camera right then and there. Where is the ENTIRE play?

  • @awoooooooo Again, full clip in the description of this page that still shows Silva swept tackled, got all ball, ball went into the leg of Carrasco and popped out and then he threw his punch/push.

  • GO BEARS!!!

  • Comment removed

  • That was the worse officiating in the history of NCAA soccer. That Call and the phantom hand ball...Joke, Robbery, disgraceful...

  • They completely robbed us. That ref is a disgrace. I really hope Silva is alright. I really don't see how the Cal player was kept in, regardless of weather Silva's slide deserved a card or not. You don't punch players in the face. You just DON'T!

  • phammons6... your just mad. go kick rocks.

  • Comment removed

  • @phammons6 Oh yeah...just like that?

  • The Zips are more than willing to take out Cal for you! Hopefully you'll be seeing a lot of Akron gear invading SB in a few weeks. Go Zips!

  • Get more tags on this, it needs to be seen far and wide!

  • boooo i hope you get knocked out in the next round cal

  • Wow

  • where did you get this replay from??? i wanna see the other stuff too

  • awful, awful refs. so upsetting.

  • The more I look, I see a two yellow card situation at worst, that early in the game---------------

  • Terrible referee call, we got robbed of our dreams to advance to a home final four---------------PROTEST TO THE LEAGUE IS IN ORDER, GET IT RIGHT, REPLAY THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i can't believe it. SO obviously biased.

  • Wow..Silva's slide tackle toward the ball didn't even touch the Carrasco's leg or body at all. Not to mention, that was not even close to studs up. Carrasco didn't even look injured either. Carrasco had no right punching or open pushing Silva's face to the ground. Ref is a bonehead for even giving a red card to Silva. I hope Cal and the NCAA looks at this and wonder why their boneheaded player put on such a great acting job.
