When Steve Jobs died, TGG posted on facebook that Steve Jobs personally chose this song to be a demo track on the original iPhones. I think that's really cool.
This band are class. Went to them in Athlone and they have four more avid fans as a result. Really well done guys. If in the midlands Ireland try the venue in Moate-Tuar Ard. Seats about 170-if you want to keep it in cosy venues that is!
For anyone younger or who didn't realize, they are actually exactly recreating works of surrealism art by Rene Magritte while singing "oh to be a work of art". Compare 1:45 to magritte's "les mysteres" :) I really like and appreciate that they did that. Post if you see any other works of art in the video! :)
@evarooka The video is riddled with references to Magritte -- 0:25: The moon and the tree (see "Le 16 Septembre" ["Tree With Cresent Moon]; 0:34: The mirrored eye (see "The False Mirror"; 2:28: Walking past trees (see "Le Blanc-seing" ["The Blank Signature"]. And so on.
"Brother, sister, man and wife. The best Love to have is the Love of Life." - Jimi Hendrix This song gives me hope for the future of humanity. And Hope - is a most powerful verb.
I can't even explain how much I love this song. The first time I heard it I fell in love with it. After I couldn't find it anywhere to download I listened to it everyday for 3 months on youtube until noticing the 'voice record' option on my iPod. It's now at the top of my 'top 25 most played list' ...at 327 times.
'But without an absolute, how can the absolute define?'
The song is about finding/trying to reach/wanting perfection and truth, for you must have it, as if you don't have an absolute, you cannot define the world around you.
@RoseClown To me, this song is about the human desire to know the truth, and how paradoxical it is. The only truth we can ever know is that we know nothing.
Respectfully......you're wrong. We don't know all, but we do much. Perhaps, what you should've said is that we know little, but knowing nothing at all is stretching it a bit don't you think?
@n8tureboy How can you know you know anything? The best we can do is notice correlations, and, even with science, pinpoint them to a high degree of accuracy. Causation is privilege of a higher power only.
It's quite simple my friend. I know that I'm typing this comment to you at this time.
As far as causation goes: I'm causing this text to appear on my screen by the act of typing it aren't I ?
Existentialism. We do exist therefore what? We know if we thrust a dagger into our heart we're probably gonna' die? Or at least feel some pain don't we?
These philosophical questions just evade the simple truths of right/wrong, day/night, hot/cold, etc.
they always play at this music school I got to I'm surprised to know they're this big. They arnt too bad maybe I should see them next time they play at the Real School Of Music
haha finding out they are irish makes me feel dumb... for some reason i thought they were from philadelphia! i never even heard that they were from philly from anyone or anything- i just started thinking that- now that i think about it, i don't know why i made that assumption. maybe since the word "philosophia" sounds like philadelphia...
No they're from Ireland, The drummer, or ex drummer, is married to the secretary from my college and they're very good friends with the lecturers there, I've talked to them a few times while on break and they helped out with one of our projects, defiantly Irish, and lovely guys too.
Check out there song an dragún. They sing in irish. They are most cetainly from Ireland and are proud of it and its language. hey, but nothing wrong with being english, great people.

I heard this song for the first time while staying at the Grand America hotel in Salt Lake City...it was playing over a video montage of all the beautiful things to do in Utah (which apparently there are many). But it was this SONG that made me unable to change the channel. It is an instant addition to the soundtrack of our lives. Play any video back at slow motion and add this song to it...and it's perfect. And the lyrics give us all a chance to justify, varify, and quantify our life paths.
