LSU, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State were SEC teams since that conference was founded. The SWC lost Oklahoma in 1920 and Oklahoma State (then known as Oklahoma A&M) in 1925. Then, that conference lost Arkansas in 1991. That and major NCAA violations (and other scandals) by many teams, especially by SMU, were the reasons for the fall of the conference.

WOW Texas band is HUGE and has a nice flag brigade, Baylor has neither factor.

Moron that's a combo of both UT's and Baylor's bands. Yes Texas has a much bigger band obviously. You should with over 50K students.

I am still heartbroken about the end of the Southwest Conference. It was a family as well as an athletic confernce. As a UT alumn I do not take satisfaction in TCU, SMU, Rice, and Houston having to struggle so. Those were great days. Thanks for posting.

Thankfully TCU was able to make the best of their situation and used their newfound mid-major status as an opportunity to rebuild their once-proud football program, to where they're now regularly beating Big 12 teams.

And I would like nothing more than to see the formation of a new SWC with the Big 12 South schools plus Arky, LSU, Ole Miss and MSU from the SEC. It would truly represent the entire Southwest region instead of mainly just two states, the problem with the old SWC.
