  • Thats a really cool video. I've run lapping days at Hallett a dozen or more times in the last 6 years... i think they still use the same wrecker truck (looks similar at least), and if i remember right, the Tree on the inside of turn 2 (the left hander at the bottom of the hill ) isn't there anymore. Cool to see vintage video like this and see the tracks history.

  • @nanotech9

I was tickled to death when I heard PL was coming to Hallett, then was really thrilled when I found out we were going to be in the same race. What a treat that was.

I got to run the very first ever weekend at Hallett in 1978. The track wasn't even done yet. They had a chip and seal on it and it was only about 15 feet wide. I have a video of that weekend too. I'll post it on here for you.

    Glad you liked this one.

  • @hhtcqzdx that would be super cool! I was thinking it was cool to have been on the same track, but for you to have raced with him had to be something else!

First weekend ever at Hallett.. on chip and seal! WOW. I'll bet that made for some interesting passing. I've only been out there on a few different bikes but always wanted to take my car out.

Do you still race or attend lapping days?

  • Is the track still there or history?

  • @PeterMayer Yes, the track is still an active racing facility. It is something like 25 - 30 miles west of Tulsa, Oklahoma as I recall.

  • Where is this?

  • This was in Tulsa Oklahoma at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. 1982

  • In 1982, that should be a 280ZX.

Also, if you can change the title, I bet you'll get a few more hits from searches.

Nice vid, though! Thanks for posting!

  • This is one of the first videos I posted. What would you recommend for a title? I'm sure open to suggestions.

Also, you're right about the car. I looked on my results sheet and it says 280ZX. I couldn't remember what it was exactly. He did have two complete cars in case one of them ran out of gas.

    Thanks for the comments.

  • I should have said "tags", but changing the title would help, too!

"Paul Newman Races Amateur Event at Hallett -1982"

"Paul Newman Races 280ZX at Hallett - 1982"

Looks like you have some good tags already, you might add "Paul Newman Racing", 300ZX, Nissan, Datsun, Actor.

Or, you can add other stuff to get some attention, like: Drifting, Super Car, Lamborghini

    Just depends.

    PS - I'm looking forward to Hallett this 2009 season. : )
