Thank's for this video, I wasn't sure where exactly to cut the hole till now. You wouls have thought they would have mounted this thing in a little better spot though. Oh well they say the people who design them don't have to work on them.
some 04's don't have the relay...I almost made a hole myself but decided to remove the battery assembly to place my hand and felt nothing...I also saw the holes...follow this link, i suspect it's your fan dude.
Wondering if anyone has any more info on the 2004 -- I see bolt holes but no relay... also the factory parts list doesn't show, but most aftermarket parts list their relay as being applicable form 99-04. Was it relocated or removed? Jeep 4.0 intermittently overheats
@turruben12 Correct! The fans won't work right.................either they won't come on at all or they won't spin fast enough to keep things cool enough.
Took ours to the dealership two years ago for the first time it overheated, cost me $300. Then on Friday while pulling my boat, the Jeep overheats. Went to Autozone and picked up a new relay for $45. Took headlight out and there was a hole the stealership made... yet charged me like it was a day's worth of work. Thanks for this video, I had it fixed in 10 minutes and you saved me a bundle.

so if the relay is bad, the fans shouldn't work right?
