@landrykkb It happened, go read Graham Cawthon's History of WWE Site for Details. The only thing is that the match was a house show and no footage exists.
Ted Dibiase (w/ Sensational Sherri) & IRS defeated WWF Tag Team Champions the Legion of Doom to win the titles at 11:49 when Dibiase pinned Road Warrior Hawk after the Natural Disasters came ringside and Typhoon hit Hawk with a steel chair while he prepared to hit the Doomsday Device on Dibiase as Sherri distracted the referee
@mrwrestlingtape1 I guess it makes sense according to storyline that the Natural Disasters would assist Ted DiBiase & I.R.S. because they were feuding with LOD before they realized that Jimmy Hart sold them down the river.
@landrykkb I wish some fan who attended the event and took a photo of Money INC holding up the belts would post it online. And I wish Animal could admit it to the public instead of staying so kayfabe in his shoots and book. He told me in person when I bought the book. I simply asked him did that match take place and why did you drop the belts? and he told me to boost house show sales. Then I read the book a few weeks later and he claims it never happened.
@mrwrestlingtape1 In the first place,I have no idea why house show attendance would have been down in 1992,and number 2,why would you deny something if it happened?Mind you,it wasn't televised.
didn't "help them" Jimmy Hart managed both teams, and the Nasties. The Story was, Dibiase paid Jimmy Hart to bump Money inc to the front of the line to get a title shot, over the Disasters and the Nasties. This is what pissed the Disasters (and the Nasties) off and turned them Face, and started the Feud.
Everyone talks about how bad the 90s were in the WWF, but I guess that was only in the mid-90s, because 1992 seemed to have a lot of good angles. This is a pretty inventive and believable storyline, especially considering it was only for the tag team division.
90-93 - WWE kicked ass. Tt was great. Awesome storylines, angles, gimmicks, and great matches. A ton of talent.
94-95 - WWE suffered greatly from a lack of talent. Watch Royal Rumble 95, mainly jobbers. Michaels/Hart/Taker were the only real workers, surrounded by nothingness.
96 - WWE started doing well again with talent.
97 - 99 WWE was raunchy, sexual, perverted and just plain inappropriate in so many ways. It was unwatchable.
Mainstream audiences containing of mainstream fans, who buy into sexual, perverted, and just plain inappropriate material make up the larger percentage of American's in the world.
So yes, based on mainstream audiences, who love overly sexual, violent and raunchy material were watching at that time.
Now, do you want to talk about mainstream fans or wrestling fans? Because if you want to talk about wrestling fans, it was the least watched era.
Well I cant talk about Americans being from the UK myself. Over here it was also at its most popular during them years. So it must not jus be those type of Americans who found it the most entertaining.
I've been watching wrestling since 1991 myself & would agree with what you have said about the other eras & I understand your point but behind all the raunchy & over the top violent material there was still alot great talent on display.
If you consider "spectacle" to be inappropriate, raunchy and perverted stories. The attitude era was for some, but it was not for everyone, including myself.
Personally I like wrestling that is friendly to the whole family, not just the horny uneducated teens wanting to see some t and a.
When I go to a wrestling show I want to be able to bring my nephew or my grandpa and not have to be ashamed about the product they're seeing.
@Notbadphonedaddy Now today's wrestling fan who grew-up on the attitude era is completely brainwashed by it. "Bring back TV-14, f**k PG" "If you don't like the attitude era, you're not a wrestling fan". The attitude era is what turned me off from pro wrestling for 5-6 years. Even in the mid 2000s when they still had TV-14, WWE was at it's worst.
@steeltownbrown52 The Attitude Era was the most POPULAR era of wrestling, OK? What's happened to the ratings in the PG-era?? Down the TOILET, that's what! The Attitude Era was the BEST Era for wrestling, NOT today's PG crap!
@ckendall67 Heard it all before, it's long gone now. PG is just a couple of letters anyways, pro wrestling is still pro wrestling. You want to blame someone, then blame WWE creative. Nexus and The Corre got boring real fast.
yeah butg look at wcw. they took the higher road - nwo, sting/crow. the whoe sting thing had me watching, I'll telll you and i've been watching wcw since 90', hehe
Definately 1990-93 was the best part of WWF in the 90's. I watched Superstars every Saturday after Saturday morning cartoons back then. Great memories.
Early-mid 96 WWE was good, but once a lot of big names left for WCW, such as Piper, Jeff Jarret, Diesel, Razor Ramon, 123 Kid, Ted Dibiase, Mr Perfect and so on, things went downhill fast.. production was cheaper, storylines were lame and the matches for the most part sucked. WWE was getting stale and needed a new direction.
@Notbadphonedaddy 95'-96' roster did get a boost of stars like Ahmed Johnson,Vader,Ron "Farooq Asad" Simmons, Goldust(Dustin Rhodes repackaged), Marc Mero, Sexton Hardcastle aka Edge etc. But in my opinion that's when the seed of the attitude era was planted(Austin 3:16). WM12 and SummerSlam 96' where both lackluster and disappointing.
@Notbadphonedaddy The WTWIW era(87-90) to 92' was great! 93' was so/so. Lex Luger's face push, Hulkamania stealing the spotlight from Bret Hart, which lead to the worst Wrestlemania in history. The plus side was talent like HBK, Ludvig Borga, The Steiners, Heavenly Bodies, 1-2-3 Kid, and Razor Ramon's face turn etc.
Why did they pull the LOD from Wrestlemania 8? was 1 of them really injured? if not, they could have had LOD drop the belts against Money Inc at wrestlemania instead of some stupid interview with paul ellering.

As far as WWE is concerned in the 90's.
