  • Fuckin tune!

  • As much as i love The Beta Band, Oasis's "Definitely Maybe" is 1994, The Beta Band's "Three Eps" is 1998.

A better comparaison woud be with The Shins that came a bit later.

  • @sweetsweetchimera The Beta Band is a thousand times better than those arrogant assholes called Oasis.

  • Honest music and the crowd and band just in the moment - thank goodness we can leave this for the future generation

  • j adore cette chanson... a quand une reformation???

  • Such a great song

  • La zorra Loco, Los Mejores! Chúpate esa!

  • brilliant!!!! and despair at the same time....a shame that bands that have such a vibe let it go...too many great bands are gone that left a lasting impression on me and too many are still around for which I would as soon forget!!!!!

  • It's amazing how something so simple can be so fuckin mind blowing and adapt to every possible mood, freakin euphoria to a kind of sadness... love it

  • Beautiful. A short exmaple of humankind doing no harm and simply enjoying life.

  • Every single one in that crowd wins at life.

  • What a great song.

  • Rob Gordon: I will now sell five copies of "The Three EPs" by The Beta Band. "High Fidelity"

  • It's bands like this that make we wish I was born a decade earlier, just so I could see them play live once.

  • why you wanna sell copy of three ep's. my fav album...... saw them play that set at t in the park. ...lol. knob head

  • I just love the fact that the crowd isn't a sea of mobile phones and cameras.

  • When you have been to a Beta Band gig you KNOW you've been out for the evening !!!!

  • I swear the crowd are singing the wrong words at the end.

Pop quiz - is he singing...

    "I will be alright"

    or

    "I will be your light"

    ?

  • 7 dislikes? Are you serious?

  • hêy_ï_fÉËl_so_lòÑÉlý_t0ÐÄý

  • this song is tits....but i love the bass jam at 3:15

  • I saw them at The Mayan Theater in Los Angeles back in 2001 it was great. I saw Elijah Wood there too with some girl. He was so small I couldn't believe it. :)

  • super cool song, top five candidate period

  • Fucking love it...!!!

  • fucking amazing. but i wish the drummer would drum instead of spazzing over the bongos.

  • best base line ever!

  • Epic, just fucking epic!!!!!

  • Love this band more than soup on a winters day. Every time i listen to them ( which is quite often) i just want to see them perform live again. Never had a buzz like it. Was fortunate enough to see them a good few times live, seen a lot of live music, but The Beta's are the best i've experienced.

  • Million thanks to Adam Freeland who put this in a mix. :}

  • It's good.

  • Makes some tears come down...

    mak100

  • I will now sell 5 copies of the three ep's by the beta band

    *hits play*

  • Just wonderful, though it's really missing something without the beautiful brass section in the original song.

Still makes all the hairs on my arms stand up on end though - especially the crowd singing at the end . Beautiful.

  • love it. shades of Bauhaus; bella lugosi's dead.

    -david

  • Just listen.

  • Brillantes! :)

  • simply awesome shite

  • Can anyone help me with this: I was trying to find a video by this band which features a very hot looking nurse dancing in a hallway and fighting with various soldiers from different wars who pass through. Can't find it anywhere. I am pretty sure it was from this band. Thanks.

  • @EdiblePlanets Yea, it's the video for Human Being.. I've uploaded it there, you'll get it on my channel.

  • @Waxthumper Thanks!! Great video. I forgot about the gold monkey, but I sure remembered the nurse ! I like your channel.

  • @EdiblePlanets

    think her name was charlotte.

  • @EdiblePlanets I remember that, it just disappeared. Human Being??

  • How I'd wish I'd seen them live. Hope that The Aliens will break into this track one day and I'm there to witness it.

  • lie back close your eyes lose yourself to higher dimension. hits me everytime!

  • Noel has already came out and said he ripped it for "Go let it out". He has ripped a lot mate. Listen to "Same size feet" by the Stereophonics and tell me what Oasis tune it sounds like. Kelly wrote it a long time before Noel had a hit with it. Still love Oasis though mate.

  • I cant believe this farewell tour was 2004. I can remember this tune coming on and bouncing around to it with the Maybes. Back in the good old days hey. Man i am getting old. Booo

  • dope, i wish there was a live trumpet tho

  • Hope now that oasis have split up that Gallagher can finally admit stealing the riff for this song for go let it out and pay these guys some fuckin royalites cos the beta band were far superior live than those manc losers. EDEN PROJECT 2004 BABY!!

  • Your bang on son. It happens all the time mate.

  • @shamuscolemanfanclub Ur so right idk why so many people like Oasis like the band honestly sucks hugeee balls compared to the beta band and many more bands

  • aye matey great stuff!

  • Well it's just perfect really innit? What an amazing band.

  • so groovy !

  • hey!!! where are the haters?

  • I just can't stop moving my head ;-)

  • They are pretty damn good live thats for sure.

  • they are my fav band of all time

  • Wow what a great performance, the audience singing at the end really tops it off.

  • YAYYYY EDINBURGH, COME ON !!!!!! :P

  • spray on dust

  • Love the use of the organ in this performance

  • i love this song, so much. and the crowd singing at the end is just amazing. why, o why, did they have to break up?!

  • awesome tune and awesome band love the crowd singing along

  • wa ere messingytou guys

  • beautiful! my probably one of my favourite songs............... Beta Band, reunite!

  • Try Jugula plus, Roy Harpep and Jimmy Page.

  • Oh wow man, heard the song on Hi Fidelity and thought "fuck that sounds cool, should check it out" finally did it just now, and far out - one of the best songs ive ever fucking heard!

  • Awesome!

Seen them live a few times.

This song is just one of many classics they produced

  • i hv to thank d film HIGH FIDELITY for me finding this song, loved it.

  • la raja <3

  • one thing about the High Fidelity,

when he puts the cd into the player, it switches to the right track and the middle of the song by itself, what gives?

  • yeah, I noticed that too... good catch :)

  • one of the best songs ever! - I love it in "high fidelity"

  • go buy all there albums u tit one of the best bands ever u bashing ur bishop head to nick hornby twat

  • for fucks sake i don't have to buy them, i own them already!

  • the beta band isn't even in the book...so you mention nick hornby why?

  • it's part of the soundtrack to the movie, High Fidelity.

"I will now sell five copies of The Three EPs by The Beta Band"

  • @localboy11 I met someone recently who didn't like High Fidelity. How can you not like High Fidelity? Have they no soul? What a wanker.

  • @palendromebob you met a bad person. shit happens.

  • @localboy11 "Do it"...

  • @localboy11

I know thats why im here, im betting im not the only one.

  • thanks for posting this, they were so good in the day. brings memories of uni back, playing the three ep's on repeat. Glasto 02 they were brilliant after a shedload of schrooms. Nothing beat portsmouth 1999 though, incredible gig. best ever,

  • they are the best ever to your mushrooms to smack go do one and inject yourself with liqud mushroom you tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

  • here we have a 37 year old that sounds like a 14 year old, with the spelling and punctuation of a 4 year old. What are you even doing viewing this? try something more on your level - that Peter Andre and Jordan show on ITV for example.

  • I have to say, although one of their more popular songs, partially due to it's appearance in the movie High Fidelity, which is a classic film, it is definitely one of their best. Nothing beats cruising down some back country roads in the middle of the night, on a few hits of acid, and nothing but The Beta Band flowing into my ears... A life changing moment for me, "the vitamin tablet that saved my life", if you ever come to a jam in life, there is no better medicine, I promise you...

  • Such an amazing band

  • Hands down one of the best bands i ever saw perform live! Adelle,if you read this comment leave me a message. You were at this show!

  • Bloody fantastic!

  • You said Gordon became ill and then 'then Mason formed The Beta Band'. The Beta Band existed long before then.

To the casual reader that looks like you are saying they didn't exist until after Gordon went into hospital.

  • Ah, so I did. I didn't mean for it to come across like that.

  • :-)

  • You clearly know very little about this band....Gordon _was_ in The Beta Band, but left due to illness just after they signed their record deal. He and Steve formed the band together when they were teenagers and then John and Robin joined.

Steve has been very public about his battles with depression - he called off his first KBT tour after the Beta Band split because he was so unwell.

The BB split because they were in an insane amount of debt and Steve wanted to go solo.

  • HA! Ha! Now who goaded WHO? Thanks for playing.

  • i put this song right up there with the greatest

    hey jude

    baba o riley

    smells like teen spirit

    it deserves it

  • Thank god or jesus... or obama or whatever for this song!

  • I will now sell five copies of The Three EPs by The Beta Band

  • I love this song, it the only one makes me happy anyway, even if I feel bad...

  • This album has got to be one of the most under-rated in history, it looks mainstream right in the eye and tells it to go fuck itself!

  • Although what you are saying about Gordon Anderson may be true - I don't know - Steve Mason's mental health was the straw that broke the camels back for the Beta Band. Put 'Beta Band split' into any search engine and you will find many interview's with Mason explaining why he felt it was time to leave the band. That IS the reason they split.(According to Steve Mason).

  • No point in arguing with Wax-Humper. He knows more about the Beta Band than even Steve Mason. Just ask him, Oh wait that's right. you don't have to wait. He'll tell you himself. Apparently, when he's in his room jerking off with the lights out these "facts" just come to him. Hopefull, some day he'll get to meet Steve Mason and straighten his ass out on the real reason his group broke up. LOL.

  • It was a combination of record company debt and Steve wanting to go solo.

Gordon was out of hospital quite a long time before The Aliens came about. He had nothing to do with the Beta Band splitting.

  • All of them are still making music to this day! It flies in the face of common logic to think they split due to lack of commercial success. KBT and the Aliens have little to no measurable commercial success but they still make music.

Hmmm. I suppose we will never know.

    Beta Band = EPIC

    rip

  • fuck fantastic!

  • If this band has given up because they are not making money then I think that they have made a big mistake.Persevere because you are excellent and in time you will get the rewards and recognition that you merit.

I have never been wrong about a bands worth.

    An excellent talented young band.

  • Money wasn't the reason they split, unfortunatly Steve Mason (vocals) has mental health issues and was not very well at the time. He has since went solo with King Biscuit Time and some of the band are now The Aliens.

  • ...mental health...that's a big thing to say...

    Peace

  • This is excellent.Original and passionate.

Just confirms my faith in young musicians.

  • young...

    what do you mean?

  • Hi cannon

    Just viewed it again.

Not a pension book in sight.

Put my specs on too after giving them a good clean.

I think that I can say with 100% certainty that these guys are Young musicians.

Maybe Ive got that wrong and perhaps they are

playing at being young in which case I am mistaken.

I wonder what other viewers think?

  • This is the definition of my life

Lying in bed in the sunlight

    Choking on the vitamin tablet

The doctor gave in the hope of saving me

In the hope of saving me

    Brilliant!!!!

  • Yeah Man, Tunarama !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i got into this band way too late

i wish i had seen them when they were together :(

  • OMG they are one of the best. One suspects the beta band will be honoured way after the fact. they are the best band scotland has ever produced. fact.

  • you may well have a point there...they are excellent indeed

  • Outstanding band!!! I was fortunate enough to see them at Glasto '02 and at the Carling Academy in November 2004 on their final tour. "The minority is always right..."

  • Wow...these guys had a great sound. Better late then never. Thanks for posting

  • that last 45 seconds is killer!

  • Without Beta Band, I wouldn't be making music today. When I saw them perform in Tempe, Arizona several years ago, something clicked in me and I've been making music since then. Thank you Beta band...

  • These guys should have been as big as any of those bands. They never got the attention they deserved while lesser bands of that era of music like blur and oasis got much more success. I found out about this band by accident and find them vastly more edifying than what is more mainstream in my culture. This flies the flag for me more than brit pop ever did.

  • Fuckin BOSS!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a great performance by a great band!

    We love The Beta BAND.

  • GENIUSSSS!!!!!!!!!!

  • RIP Beta Band....

Please come back...my baby daughter loves your music, and as long as you're producing I'll never have to listen to the Wiggles.

  • just PERFECT

  • brilliant. anymore vids from this show?

  • Yea I put Inner Meet Me up.

  • truly the most perfect 7 minutes of my life so far, thank you.

  • I was there...just wanted to say thanks for posting this, watched it this morn and quit my f**king job, loaded up the car and now we're headed to the beach with 12 quid and three cats.

  • Awesome. Thanks for posting. I´ve been looking for a live version of this for ages.

  • Oh and they were in costumes a couple of times, Karate suits with a guest trumpet player (someone in the bands cousin i think)as a vicar. Ahhh, good times

  • Great song by a great band. Saw them play 5songs at the Roadhouse in Manchester (small & dingy dungeon if you've never been), and they were class. Saw them a few other times, always brilliant. Like many others, not as successful as they should have been.

  • I saw them at the Roadhouse too :)

  • Five Stars!! This song is just great, thanks!

  • What a great band, and an excellent finale to the song!Great post!

  • OH Yeah!
