  • Why do you always play open handed?

  • @DarkestSidesoftheSun most of the time but not allways its just more comfortable for me.

  • @nx2overide I like to switch back and forth for a better experience. I think I'll try your china setup. I have mine on the right.

  • im notA drummer, but i like playing the drums and i find it Tiring... i think i use my muscles to much rather then just doing that finger pull

  • kinda cool. i never took classes and other day i grabbed my friends drum set and i did a good blast beat and gravity beat. still this vid helped me much more.

  • the noise it does when the stick hit your palm.. my grandma on the other room though I was fapping.... -_-

  • @oly355 LOL, not thats a funny coment right there!

  • @nx2overide heheh yeah

  • @oly355 seriously :-D hahahah

  • ahahahaha

  • @nx2overide How about using Moeller technique for blasting? Wrist is used.

  • @chonesman123 Moeller works great..as long as you use your wrist facing downward like your slapping the drum with your hand.. you are good to go.. never turn your wrist with your thumb upward facing the ceiling you will blow your wrist out. ;)

  • 0:56, Who is it?

  • I'm sure i learnt this when I started drums seven years ago

  • @NiobiumDrummer yep... thats why its a beginners video........

  • if that's not your wanking hand, i'll be surprised what your wanking hand can do... o.o

  • oh! oh! i saw u use that wrist......this video makes me want to watch nascar

  • @acedrummer2590 lol right on yep trying to control the stick with no pad my wrist moves to slow the stick hehe.

  • ehhm... just one thing... if you go on drum lessons... this is the first thing you learn... its called snares ;S

  • @Cruzankiller if you type snare into the search bar.. you will definately be as shocked as i was ..... there are actually thousands of snare videos.... Amazing.... Its must be some form of voodoo or magic.

  • em...tree trunkin'??? is that what all the rednecks say in the middle of Alabama?...

  • @griptapesequel please pull up your diaper.. shit is dribbling out on to the comment section.

  • @nx2overide oi mate, you really take shit way too seriously...

  • @nx2overide dude, YOU take shit way too seriously as well...

  • @griptapesequel dude im just fucking with ya..lmao... dude calm down im not being serous at all.. just bull shitting..

  • @griptapesequel HA! you got owned.

  • @avengedbulletgrace em...i wouldve been owned if i actually cared...btw, you sound like some idiot teenager on Xbox live that THINKS they can play Call of Duty...

  • How hard you supposed to hold it? lol

  • What means "fat fingered" ?

  • @sk8erboy182 its when your bangin some fat chick and you... nevermind

  • "Hold your stick like this, and move your fingers back and forth and let the stick kinda.. move by itself."

  • @mullen711 Use The Force Luke!

  • I love when drummers learning to blast is pretty simple. If I were teaching this dude to play guitar, I would be like "yeah, over-hand two-handed tapping is pretty easy on the guitar..."

  • Thanks for that

  • Unfortunately I play traditional grip, so I can apply this to my right hand, but not the lefty.

  • Dave Weckl - Moeller Technique This may help you out. :)

  • you could just use your right hand some people that use the other grip do that even cause they suck with they're left

  • moeller for sure. I've seen some sweet traditional grip blasts, but i forget the drummer's name.

  • @CrimsonGuardJay look up traditionall grip blasting

  • finger tech is great if you trigger your kit and don't want a dynamic sound...

  • thats basicly what "blastbeat" kind of music is all about

  • Thanks for the tip, it's been a blast. :)

  • @htool11462

    heehee

  • @htool11462

I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE

  • good :P

  • As some other drummer already said, the flying fingers technique is not the only way to do it. A mixture between wrists and fingers seems to work out pretty well and for example Derek Roddy seems to blast just with his wrists... And my personal favourite technique is again very different...

  • I agree ,there are many diferent blast techniques really its all personal preference.. i chage up alot wile playing i move from wrist to fingers depending on what im feeling.

  • @MorganvanHelsing I COMPLETELY agreed with you my friend!

  • i wanna learn to get teh finger technique down soo badly. i work my wrists so much

  • Why would you tell us to rate at the end of the video, then you disable it?

  • Because the video is old.

  • The technique isn't very hard, but it takes a lot of practice to reach high speeds

  • the stick doesnt want to "re-bound" off my palm

  • Just hold it nice and loose and let the weight of the stick do the work.

  • i like how he says not to use wrist, yet he is using wrist a lot

  • Stick Velocity for retards - "the stick doesn't rebound off anything, there for the wrist moves slightly due to me stopping the motion."

It's called Inertia for us smart folks. I know its hard for you to understand using your limited mental ability so don't go into shock trying to figure it out.

  • well, i can blast, not on a set mind you, but when you play with only finger your wrist does not move at all, very small movement,

  • yep thats right dont use your wrist to push and pull ...but allow the wrist to be relaxed and move freely a little if it needs to. let your fingers do the work.

  • exactly, my point was that, obvioulsy your wrist will move if you are practicing in the air, but even when you were hitting the pad you were using wrist, it takes a little while to get fingers only down

  • there is a "Difference" from using your wrist to blast by actually pushing the stick and pulling it... and using your wrist to control the hit by slightly moving it.

  • If you were to throw something up in the air in front of you how do you catch it? by just holding your arms out? or do you catch it and move your arms down just a bit to control it.? Exactly my point. Dont use your wrist to blast.

  • fuck that i just move my arms

  • UKrocketeer what do you blast on then if you don't blast on a drum set? lol...

  • i do blast on a drum set, i just said i cant blast with my fingers as easily on my drumset, i use more wrist, due to the rebound being less than on a pad, im working on my chops so i can blast with my fingers

  • Thats cool man I was starting to think im the only blaster that doesen't use the flying finger technique. I was always taught to play palms down using your wrists and thats how I learned to blast. There isnt a right or wrong way to do it.. I just can't use the finger technique its too awkward for me.

  • if you practice it a lot, and work on slow speeds with the finger technique it will become more natural

  • same i dont use it i cant really blast but i can sorta but i dont use the flying fingers it feel uncomfertable 2 me

  • rednecks know there stuff

  • it seems like you might get more power this way but really all you need to do is have a decent single stroke roll, and lead with your right hand and bass drum in sync. My advice is take the left pedal off and retire it for awhile, get super fast with the right, then just roll with the right food and hand in sync, accenting the 1.

  • =( make 1 for grind blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My fingers are wayyy too long and skinny, I can't get the stick to bounce between them. My fingers are too far out there, and if I tuck them closer they're way out to the side. :p I guess I'll just be waiting for the arm blast tech.

  • try holding the stick in the tip of your finger and thumb

  • Same here. My fingers are way too long for the sticks!

  • try using 5b if you are using something like 5a in other words thicker sticks

  • develope your own style

  • call it the lanky finger blast

  • any change of posting a tut on how to do blastbeats with your arms instead of wrists like mick harris?

  • sure thing i can make one for ya. i use to do arm blasts alot not so much anymore but i can muster up something for ya. as soon as i get it together ill upload it and link ya up.

  • ok thanks!

  • Ugh, I can't blast cause of the tendons in my fingers lock up behind my knuckle when I bend my fingers close to my palm. I can do it right handed, but left handed is a whole different story. (Which is, of course, the snare hand)

  • swap hands ... play the snare with your other hand.. i can play blasts with either it just takes practice and a lot of patience..LOL

  • Well, the way I have my kit set up is the standard way, which is how I learned & use/used my kit. It just proves to be more difficult. Lulz!

I can already do a pretty fast motion with my right hand, but my hand technique, & my tendons make it near impossible to keep a fast pace going on my left hand.

  • find the fastest bpms you can do for 30 seconds straight on your left hand, then do it for 45 seconds a couple times, and then 60,75,90 etc untill you think you can do it faster and just keep doing that... but dont forget your right hand in the process =P

  • Well, again, the only problem I have with that is my fingers lock up on my left hand. I can't even hold the stick the proper way with my left hand cause of it, so doing any sort of blast beat is a little bit hard.

But I'll try it & see if I can't get my hand to improve.

  • I know what u mean dude I find it hard with my left too

  • in exactly the same its horrible!

my right hand - no problem, hoever my left hand my fingers just don't and won't do it! i've practised every day so far and theres a slight change, hopefully i'll get there

  • count fours with your right hand. and move your high hats to the right side when the ride would usually be. it'll take some getting used to but when i broke my hand i just put the stick taped to the cast. and then blast your ass off with your left.

  • O fair enough, may be made worse by my screen resolution to, good tutorial though, love the grav blast one !

  • yep well the video quality of this video kinda sux too so.. its totally understandable. Thanks ;)

  • It looked to me like you were moving your wrist :S

  • because the stick has nothing to rebound off of..my wrist moves a little cause I'm stopping the velocity of the stick.

  • why is a southern guy who looks pretty redneck teaching me how to do blast beats?

  • way to go with the stereotypen i cant be a red-neck and play grind? lol

  • oh lol, i got no prob, i just definitely wouldnt expect it hahaha. i myself am from south carolina, so i was kind of suprised to see a guy like you playing shit like this. fucking awesome

  • its all good im just giving you a hard time.. no sweat. lol yep i been in to metal since the early days of thrash..

  • nice. ive liked it since i was a baby! guns n roses was my first fav band lol

  • rock on ...yep i remember when Appetite for Destruction came out.. i still love that album.

  • i still have the casette :) im totally adding you now lol

  • wow cassettes....haven't heard that term in a bit.. i have a ton of them in my parents attic along with some LPs. lol tru man i subscribed and added you.. you seem really cool.

  • you too brah. i watched oyur other video on gravity blasts. shit was sweet

  • Thanks i can't believe i uploaded that thing a year ago..lol Tim flys.

  • lol yeah

  • triggers are censors that modify the impact of acoustic drumhit into electric. and how that is usually thought to be cheating, is that when you change the rules of producing sound out of an acousticdrumset into just giving impulse to a electricdevice that produce the same sound everytime despite the force put into it. no use practising years for a steady beat, when you can use computer to even it out for you.

  • what is triggering exactly, can someone please explain

  • triggering is havingg microphones in front of the bass drum that make the drum sound more consistent

  • actually you can trigger all of your drum parts, amplifying its sound, or even changing its sound

  • oh and its not really micophones... i dunno how it really works but its inputting your drum sounds into a mixer and change the sound of it, kinda like e-drums

  • what about your foot captain??

  • Comment removed

  • not really, but he is an outstanding drummer. Truly underrated drummer and band.

  • eeee...man...i wish you good luck in life..

  • haha you guys are talking about joey... well try listening to hellhammer or nick barker for a chance.!

  • True. Hellhammer kicks the shit out of joey easy

  • Nick Barker sucks, he uses a trigged drum set, Hellhammer & Inferno of Behemoth are the best. But Hellhammer is still like the best of all.

  • Yeah infernos awesome. behemoth's new album is really kick ass.

  • Inferno is awesome, but i was a little dissapointed with Behemoth's new album, i was expecting alittle more, but it still kicks ass.

  • Yeah well i mean the album is sick, but its missing some epic parts like choirs and stuff from the apostasy. but instrumentally its one of the best. Especially Ov Fire and The Void, And The Seed Ov I.

  • wow

    man....

    your a dumbass

    now we all know

that using a triggered drumset makes a bad drummer

    dude

    are you serious man??

triggering is just like tuning a kit but in a diff way thats all....

  • For some reason that's being a poser in Black Metal, don't blame me. And forgive me for my ignorance, but just don't blindly insult me for that.

  • whats being a poser in black metal?

    triggering?

  • Yes and i still don't know why.

  • this is true. quite frankly i really dont why people get so upset over the use of bass triggers. I personally think they make the bass drum sound epic and bad ass.

  • yeah....actually triggering is the same as tuning except in a different way..

  • are you sure? im pretty sure triggering the bass is putting an electronic device that makes it so you can hear the bass more.

  • yeah

that should be somthing i think called a second snare!!!

    XD

    jkjk

but it looks like a second snare doesnt it?

  • no cheif I know what they are. they are a senser that gets clamped onto the bass (or any other) drum. then they go through a modual and out the p.a. system. they make it louder basically and when you adjust the eq just right the high end trebble clicky sound comes out.

  • Yeah i guess thats it

But Why do people keep saying

    that its cheating???

ive heard a lot ov songs

    with the drums triggered

    i didnt know that much

but i knew it wasnt cheating or any bullshit like that

  • very incorrect. you have obviously never recorded in a metal band. or played live in a real show with a metal band. or any band. congrats.

  • of course

i started drumming abt a few months ago

    and where i stay

    i havent seen a studio

and no one here likes metal

and im just 13 for satans sake!!!

  • its cheating!!!! what if you had a guitar that strummed all the notes for you????

  • triggers dont kick for you. idiot. they just amplify it.

  • not amplify.. reconstruct.

  • view 44444 :D

    very nice video!!!

  • Joey is good, but hes not the best. in my opinion, if you want fuckin awesome drums, listen to devildriver, John Boecklin is fuckin sick!

  • Upgh. Sorry. Almost threw up a bit there when you said Devildriver.

  • It makes it so you dont have to hit the drum hard and it will sound loud. So he can play faster cuz he doesnt have to use as much effort.

P.S. Dont have to be such a fuckin asshole about it dude

  • Yea ur a bit wrong. Trigger pads have velocity sencers JEOY IS NOT FAKE!

P.S no need to be a douche.

  • Im aware of that. what im saying is he can play faster because he doesnt have to hit the drum nearly as hard. So it makes it easier to play faster when you dont have to hit the drums hard to make it sound good. If you have double bass try playing as fast as you can wuile hitting it hard ans as fast as you can while barely hitting it and you will see what i mean. Therefore JOEY IS FAKE!

  • Haha! My god! Do some research. A velocity cencor cences how hard you hit the drum. Have u ever played triggers? JOEY IS NOT FAKE!

  • Whoah, dude :D im going to try that!

  • holy shit sick

  • Comment removed

  • george kollias ftw

  • he can do some pretty sweet blasts yes :) :)

  • Dave Mackintosh's really good too! :D

  • Matt Greiner is a fucking legend! He would rape any drummer.

  • thumbs up on that one

  • Comment removed

  • wtf marco pitruzzella would destroy matt greiner. Lord Marco. they call him that for a reason

  • Chris Adler is quite good at blast beats

  • From lamb of god? Yea their Verrry good

  • ya chris is my favorite drummer but i do think jordison does better blasts

  • Yeah Jordison is wicked but i can't think of any songs where he blasts?

  • all hope is gone

and a part at "people=shit" and "three nil"

  • Annihilation By The Hands Of God

From the Roadrunner United album. Search it. Joey's on drums.

  • don't really care for slipknot(from after iowa)but damn can joey blast!!!!!

  • Only because he uses triggers. Thats why it seems like he can blast so fast. JOEY IS FAKE

  • You are really retarded lol

triggers don't change your speed, they just make the drum make the same noise every time you hit it

Joey isn't that good anyway, hence the new album..

  • i can manage to do 3 hits for every 4 he does. I actually can do the blast on time for like 3 seconds and then i go to 3 for every 4. its SO HARD

  • cool

  • hey are pork pie snares any good just a random question

  • The older models rock.. I'm not big on the new stuff.. they are still good but don't have the tone the older models have.

  • OHHH MY GOSH!!!!

Yes they are they are amazing i have one and everywhere i go i get compliments on it!!!!! if your looking for one get the Pork Pie Little Squealer Snare Drum - 13" x 7"

its what i have and i promise its amazing but you will need to get a good drum head for it. i use a evans snare head!!!!!!!!!!

  • blane pork pie snares are one of the best to my perspective, just like orange county drums but they are expensive just like orange counties as well

  • if ti's so fucking easy why the hell u watching blast FOR BEGINNERS

  • Such a fucking comebackman! that was legendary and i hope that shut him up.

  • well why are you even watching this vid? moron.

  • Do you use your index for a blastbeat, ive been using my index to help push the stick and fucking my hand hurts now, anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks
