  • MASTER!!!!!!

  • Also he plays in the best and oldest band in the world.

  • good on ya for the post, love the music, thanks.

  • What kind of flute is this?? whats it's name?? :)

  • @Badboysofdenmark its a baroque flute i think in the key of d or a modern copy of a one but not %100 sure

  • @omarshinken As far as I can see (and know) it's a Rudall & Rose type of flute, which is 19th century...

  • @pjotr60dvd It's not an antique, it's an Olwell. Antiques have keys on the two foot holes.

  • @LorenzoFlute This may be true, I can't see it, but I wasn't talking about "antique", modern Rudall & Rose copies are available. Actually, I ordered a Rudall & Rose type of flute which has no keys on the foot holes... It all depends on how many keys you want.

Anyway, Matt played a Rudall&Rose in his Bothy Band period and he now plays mainly a Pratten, although he owns an Olwell. Check out an interview with him.

  • Very nice! If you are a John Carty fan..... I just added a very nice lengthy Live video of John from an event this past summer. Shot in HIGH DEFINITION! Just do a search for John Carty at wheeler theatre.

  • What a pleasure! Thanks so much for posting!

  • nice to see that even matt molloy goofs up sometimes

  • They should have a statue of this man in the square Ballaghaderreen

  • i want this at my funeral

  • No wonder that matt is the best Irish flutist!

  • hey does anyone have the names to the reels matt plays aftr easter snow

    ??

  • Lord MacDonald and Martin Ainsborough's

  • Looks like he could be James Galways cousin or something :D.. This guy is great. :D

    10/10

  • The Last reel is Martin Ashborgh or Bhola

  • matt molloy is probably my favorite flute player ever.

mike's good, but matt's got the best style i've ever heard!

  • where I can get some notes for the easter snow?I am playing an old 19th century 12fe keyed flute.I am living in Poland,it is impossible to get here any written Irish music except of the internet. Thanks for any help.

  • where

  • I think he means Spoil the Dance, which Lunasa played on 'Redwood.'

  • As far as I know Lunasa never played easter snow . It´s more associated with Seamus Ennis

  • I have to admit that I like Matt's version of "Easter Snow" here more than Lunasa's.

I am biased, but I don't think there will ever be a better flute player than this man... My biggest influence. I hope to be able to meet him someday!
