  • wheres the spills?

  • @Dubin619

...ever consider READING the video's info box? It's there for a reason y'know. :)

  • Imma dude...n I ride....im just saying.....

  • Thats gotta hurt ones crotch....

  • @terry11905

Guy riders longggggggggggg since learn to catch ourselves, and mind our position at all times, when riding. We figure that out in pony/short-stirrup days.

I know this can sometimes seem incomprehensible to you ladyfolk (and I guess that's understandable)-- but it's just really not that hard to avoid racking ourselves when riding... even bareback. It's not. We wouldn't do it if it was.

  • watching puissance is nerve racking!!!! usally i dont watch these videos cause it makes me nervous when jumping my horse!!!

  • amazing!!!!

  • What is Puissance?

  • @horsesofcourses1

It's French for ”power”... generally in puissance classes, they build the single central fence higher and higher until only a winner can clear it. There are optional practice fences as well.

  • @ImmortalSynn Oh, thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i can't even post bareback...

  • Awesome!

  • you know your good when you can jump 7ft jumps bareback!! i would be even more impressed if they rode stacy westfall style!! bareback and bridleless

  • I jump somewhere around 3ft bareback, i can't imagine doin 7 ft. Amazing riders for stayin on so nicely and amazing horses for clearing 7 ft!

  • Amazing horses and riders. And some MAD leg muscles. Anyone who says riding isn't a real sport and that we just "sit there" clearly haven't tried posting without stirrups let alone this.

  • @XxemoxqueenxX i argree

  • WOW, that is just... WOW! <3

  • god, that man must have amazing muscles. At my barn, every lesson we have to go into two point with out stirrups perfectly, and it will kill your legs for the one second your up.

  • my trainer was a stuntwoman and she did that but instead at the top of the jump she jumped off the horse and landed on the jump! it was sooo cool!

  • @iRideHorses474

    Any pics/footage of that??

  • this is amazing ive only ever jumped about 3ft bareback i remember jumping 4ft without stirrups but id love to do that i just dont have the horse!! xx

  • OMFG!! thts crazy!!!

  • Pips4lucy said: no he dosnt, i could do that just as good as he can

There, I just saved you five minutes. :)

  • bloody health and safety probably wouldnt allow that now >:(

Amazing amazing balance - and guts! xD

  • ;O I want their balance!! Geez....

  • second clip, coming up deep, must have been shit scary!!!

  • omg that is nuts why would u even whant to try

  • @Buster14596

...because they (obviously) can, why else?

  • @Buster14596 because they like the challenge and the adrenaline.

  • @Buster14596 to test yours and your horses abilities and you get tons of money it's not a solid brick wall it's boxs or something light stacked ontop of each other so it doesnt hurt if the horse hits the wall

  • we have a puissance wall at my yard and we did a bareback puissance today. i lived until 2ft9" when the horse decided to gallop straight through the jump and buck. i stayed on. but those guys jumping 7ft are AMAZING!!!

  • @CaitlinD1997

    Props for staying on.

  • Are you aloud to show bareback?

  • @faithandhorses

    This was an exhibition class.

  • @ImmortalSynn I don't do showjumping so...what's an exhibition class?

  • @faithandhorses

Means it's done just as an entertainment display, and cannot be used for any official tally of points, of rankings, nor to award money (though they can be done to raise money for charity).

  • i'd just be happy to get over the 2 warm up jumps - WITH saddle lol. i cant even get on my horse bareback (he freaks out when you make sudden movements) let alone jump. but now ive been inspired to try. thank you :)

  • doesn't that hurt their dicks?

  • @musicbaby8143

LOL, Females make suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch a bigger deal out of this than it is. Seriously, no guy makes it past short/long stirrup without learning how to "catch" himself. I mean, bash against a pommel/withers as single time, and the pain will teach ya that! Guys at this level would have no problem negotiating such, lol.

  • i was lik daayyuummm!! then i saw they didnt have a saddle on....

  • i couldnt even jump that with a saddle that had a seat belt and stay on!!

  • O.o Oh jeez! I want that balance. xD

  • crazy crazy people

  • Halfway through this I realized he was jumping that high BAREBACK!!!!

  • @equistera

...so I'm guessing that the capitalized title wasn't enough of a hint? lol

  • @equistera really

  • holy moses!

  • HOLY SH1T!!

  • no he dosnt, i could do that just as good as he can

  • @Pips4lucy

Before you try, I have a friend who sells life insurance... would you like his number? :-P

  • I'd be more impressed if they were jumping sans bridle instead of sans saddle, but incredible athleticism and riding even so!

  • Watching things like this gives me chills!! I wish I could do this!

  • he freakin makes it look easy!!!!!! woowwww!!!!! thats awesome

  • you should of put the song "stuck like glue" haha (:

  • they look like they have saddles on ^^

  • @xXRosieLUVSPomPomXx

...you should pay closer attention, those are clips, not saddles. Lol

  • @ImmortalSynn ithought it was sweat lol

  • HOW THE HELL DO GUYS DO THAT!!! 0_o

  • he is never reproducing..... im a girl and that hurts!

  • @JustLikeMagic31

...I'm a guy, and I can say not really. Male riders learn to "catch" ourselves wayyyy back in pony days. Bash against a pommel a time or two, and you'll learn it quickly. Those who don't, just wear a cup. Not nearly as cumbersome as some of you lady-folks make it out to be sometimes. ;)

  • @ImmortalSynn

At least we're wrong, lol. Wouldn't it suck if we were right about how much it hurt lol. My coach is Male and tells me he just avoids riding bareback.

  • that can NOT be good for the horses' front legs/feet! very talented riders tho...looks like alot of fun! :P

  • @HavvahartKL Puissance horses are trained for this. It's like saying sulky racing isn;t good for trap horses. They are all bred for it and hence have incredibly strong rock hard legs which act as shock absorbers

  • how.... would you have the balance....?

if i even jump 80cm bareback on my horse i'm be like : "up, down, splat.. "oh hello arena sand, it's been a while""

  • @XxXRukiaXxX182XxX Just gotta grip with your legs, it's hard to jump bareback like THAT ^^^^^ though.....o.o

  • WOW! (: bareback too!

  • uh....r they wearing cups or something??? hahaha

  • That Must kill Horsie's Back :( But AMAZING!

  • @Nibbles184 Not at all! It is more natural to have a ride bareback, they can feel your position and movement and seat and therefore move easier instead of having the saddle to move under

  • omg I can hardly even trot bareback (btw I can canter bareback but not trot lol x )

  • @Tiffytufo yeah, i can canter but i kinda slide off in trot :D

  • @Tiffytufo haha lol it is kinda hard to trot barback its a lot smoother when cantering

  • this is ridiculously good riding , their positions are perfect and they stick the landing without hurting the horses , they really are elite riders !

  • :O i didnt know they did a bareback puissance!

Is it the same height as the regular one?

  • @BrightLights741

What do you mean "same height"?

...the whole point of puissance competitions are to continually increase the height until a winner is declared or a record set. Therefore, height in various competitions will vary quite a bit.

  • @ImmortalSynn ohhh okayy, so its run pretty much the same way?

  • Yup I would be on the ground before I even went up to the jump! :P

  • omg he is bareback

  • @major1815

Great observation... despite the title and all. ;)

  • the guy is riding freaking BAREBACK!! that's not even fair! he makes it look so easy

  • amazing riding!!!!!!!!!

  • His jumping about saddle!!!

  • i bet these horses stable doors and fencing is like 8ft XD

  • That guy and that horse are amazing! They have a load of skill♥♥♥

  • Talented rider. Talented horse.

  • I would love to ride like that. It's amazing how they can do that. I ride but I can't jump bareback that high! Amazing to all those riders.

  • ahhhh omg ich würd da sogar mit sattel voll aufs maul fliege;)

  • i so wish i could do that my horse can jump but she hasn't got the stamina to jump like that, the people who ride those horses are soooo lucky :L

  • @MissJadeCullen

I wouldn't say "lucky" so much as incredibly talented/tenacious. Luck can only take you so far, and certainly not to THAT level! ;)

  • @ImmortalSynn yeah i know its talent their amazing what i mean is they have a chance to ride such horses that can jump those heights aswell as there talents x

  • @MissJadeCullen

Still disagree... they were SOUGHT OUT to ride such horses, BECAUSE of their talent.

It's not like they own them, were born into having them, or just randomly stumbled upon them. Those sorta things would be "luck."

  • @ImmortalSynn yes very true i agree with you. their are alot of people who can ride as well as them if they were given the chance or had the money and when i said lucky i didn't mean in there riding i ment in having those opotunities x

  • @MissJadeCullen

    Fair enough.

I find these convos interesting, as I was into one with a few of my barnbuddies the other day... where we were discussing if anyone would likely ever top Margie Engle's string of AGA Rider of the Year awards. The comment along the lines of "I doubt anyone would ever be lucky enough to have that many horses" came up... and we got into a big go-around about what, if anything, luck has to do with that.

  • @ImmortalSynn i see do you compete with your horses x

  • @ImmortalSynn i agree but you have to be a good rider in the start. and to afford horses like that you have to be pretty wealthy. like ellen whittaker she was born into the horsey world. if she wasn't a whittaker she probably woundt be a famous rider today!

  • @RaspberryRipple2010

"i agree but you have to be a good rider in the start. and to afford horses like that you have to be pretty wealthy."

More often than not, the top riders themselves are nowhere *near* wealthy, they just have wealthy CLIENTS. To garner those though, does indeed require talent.

As for being born into the horse world, I'll agree with you there... but still not always the case. Look at Margie Engle-- won more GPs than anyone, in history but neither rich nor born into it.

  • My mom has decided that if I ever ride bareback again, Im not allowed to ride at all.. SOO Once I am old (and good enough) to, Im entering this class... and Im going to win it (-: I love riding and jumping bareback

  • @Cheesekake343

This class was a 1-time event, nearly 21yrs ago at that.

  • @ImmortalSynn Oh seriously??? This video doesn't look near that old! lol Its ok, Im still going to ride and jump bareback..

  • @Cheesekake343

    Indeed. It's from 1990.

  • @ImmortalSynn Oh wow! That looks like insane fun tho hahaha No matter how old it is!

  • @ImmortalSynn oh, come on, appriciate her enthusiasim, and she probably didn't mean this exact show.

  • @horsecrazy098

Get a grip. I'm just informing him/her that this was a rare event, in case she meant this specific type of competition. I'm in no way whatsoever impugning on enthusiasm.

  • @ImmortalSynn please, i dont want to get in a fight now. i wish i could jump that high bareback!

  • @Cheesekake343 ur lucky u can even ride baraeback where u do ride... where i do we cant for "insurance reasons" but we can jump without stirrups :)

  • O_o.....

  • ahahah its funny how the majority of riders position and balance arent nearly as good over jumps half that height with a saddle! what amazing riders these guys are haha

  • OMG! sooooo scary..... and ive jumped 90 on a stally! and i thought that was scary!

  • is that at Olympia?

  • this must be an olf video i cnt imagin health n safety letting this happen any more :(

    but great riding tho :)

  • @will0wamber

...where are you getting that from?

  • wow, i am a fail

  • wow, without a saddle. impressiv!!!

  • hehe i like the "oooh so easy" at the very last minute

  • ...i'm just gonna go cry at my lack of skill now...

  • That made me go OUCH! And Im not a boy lol. Thats one brave and talented rider right there and what a cracking horse too

  • WOW

  • Thats what horse and rider are supposed to look like 2 pieces of the same thing ! if I'm ever half or even quater as good I'll be happy !

  • Bloody Hell . Looks Shit scary ! No matter hw much I ride my horses I dnt fink I could ever jump that hiqh bareback .

    o_O .

  • holy shit i wish

  • wtff thats crazyyy!!!

  • holyy crappp i honestly didnt think that was even possible!!!

  • unbelievable! its crazy! but looks like sooo much fun! =D

  • that's insane, if only it were as easy as he makes it look.

  • 1:07 BLOODY HELL! he makes it look to easy

  • @horseriderhannah

Indeed... the sign of true talent!

  • Scary I bet!

  • @Rubyshewolf98

No joke! Imagine charging toward that thing, only to discover that you're gonna come up long to it!

...or actually, I think it'd be even scarier to realize that you're going to come up too deep to it!

  • this is so amazing!!!!! how come they had to do it bareback??!!! they're incredible!!

  • Friggen Amazing!

    I Love It (:

  • Wow that's awsome!!! Wish I could do that!!! Looks Scary and fun!!!

  • I find it amazing that when you watch jumping in saddle you do not appreciate the whole horse! Watching this without a saddle really emphasizes what beautiful creatures they are. Thanks for a great video!

  • holy crap a moly!

    thats bareback!?

  • Amazing! I may have missed an earlier thread, but what breed of horse is this? I need to show this to my horse when he complains about the little barrels I ask him to jump!!!:)

  • @saddllp haha

  • Thats impressive! wow

  • Awesome, everyone should be able to ride without a saddle, maybe not jump 7feet :) but still, I believe riding without a saddle is the best way to learn and keeps you closer to the horse !

  • @Januaryroad1 I agree 100%, i ride my mare bareback a lot, once a week at least! Bareback helps you stay warmer in the winter too xP

  • omg ME jelly :) !!!

  • now that is impressive

  • i wish i had a horse that could do this.

  • When watching this, I can just count around 100 different times that I would fall, and the injuries I would obtain when I would fall. This is epic.

  • That looks like so much fun!! :D

  • WOW that was ammazee and when i comment some times it dont appere

  • OMG!!

  • OMG that looks like fun =P

  • I love jumping bareback, but that is just a BIT crazy. Haha. I have to wonder how it feels for the horse to drop seven feet straight down. If I were a horse, I'd spaz....

  • And what is "outstanding" here??? :)))))

Yes, more damage to horse's back by this accidental flapping on it by the rider's ass, and what??? :) People are supposed to go and cry that "that is AMAZING" ??? :))))

  • @fleur4198

    "And what is "outstanding" here?"

... you seeming to think that anyone would be fooled into believing you what you're talking about with this, perhaps? ;)

  • @ImmortalSynn Say the same, but in normal English now...

  • @fleur4198

    ...you're ...full ...of ...crap.

There, that "normal" enough for you to grasp? ;)

  • @ImmortalSynn Yes. Yours is again the most common, typical English everywhere widely used by all "equestrian guys", "horsemen", "riders" and "champions".

I confirm that to you as a professional linguist with higher eduaction.

You may be proud of yourself. (claps, claps,).

  • @ImmortalSynn I will keep on saying that YOU way of "self-expression" is 100% typical and most common in level for "equestrian guys", "girls" and "champions" . I don't care if you don't approve the comment again, YOU read it, so YOU know it.

  • @fleur4198

What are you talking about, dimwit? Everything you've written has posted here. Pay attention, lol.

  • @ImmortalSynn You are the owner of this vid., every time after posting a comment there is "your comment wait for approval", i wrote two other comments that did NOT appear here.

  • @fleur4198

Apparently, you didn't post them correctly then. You only ever had 4 comments pending, and all four are posted here. None are left in pending, and I haven't erased anything from anyone on this thread in weeks.

  • @fleur4198 yep pretty much if you havnt allready noticed the riders are sat lightly and dont sit down as we normally do bareback the are sat up and non bouncing as they would with a saddle to the best of their abilities and anyhow its not like they do this every day so no harm .... god some people need to unwrapp the cotton wool they live in and get a grip ¬¬

  • tats savagely brillnt

  • Wow that looks extremely painfull for the guys junk!!!!

  • ah i love how their back legs just brush the jump :)

  • holy shit.

    I can't jump 3ft WITH a saddle!

  • omg tht amazing and

huge how do they do it please reply

  • @TheLydiachristopher

Skill, experience, and a brave horse... how else.

  • Wow

  • holy fuck.

  • haha are you sure this isnt photoshoped or something?! I saw the video wif them doing it with a saddle on! lol

  • @horsemadhall

You're either 1) thoroughly confused or 2) lying for the sake of attention.

Regardless as to which it is, do know that this was a 1off and highly-publicized event at Olympia. The taping was originally done live. So unless a few thousand in the crowd, and a few million in the live audience, were hypnotized into thinking that they saw something they didn't... you can rest assured that you're thoroughly wrong on the issue at hand. ;)

  • @ImmortalSynn

but the announcer never sais anything bout him doing it "bare back..?" and no i am not 1 nor 2 .. as i have seen the video with a saddle(:

  • @horsemadhall

Then let's go to option 3) you're full of shit.

I have the entire show on tape, and these clips are also featured in Equestrian Vision's Thrills & Spills collection..... which ANYONEEEEE can get for themselves with a simple click to Amazon or Ebay.

    You're pathetic.

  • oh my gosh how did that horse at 0:15 make that!!!!!!!

  • @horsey6098

    Talent!

  • Now this video shows you the proof behind the mechanics of form over fences. It's even more impressive to watch knowing those are men riding whose ummm parts might not like the landing too much.

Actually, what kreabis says is true. I've ridden out over natural fences bareback too many times to count. I tell people try a close contact saddle for jumping. I use mine for cross country jumping. A grippy bareback pad makes jumping sans saddle even easier + it frees the horse's back better.

  • jumping is EASIER bareback, ive tried it

  • @kreabis

I've heard several people say that, so I guess it's an individual matter... I don't find jumping to be all that much more difficult bareback, but as a guy, I do think that we've gotta be a bit more careful how we land. Not nearly as exaggeratedly-such as some ladies like to joke about, but still a bit more than usual. ;)

  • @ImmortalSynn its true, but still, when ur a girl, we could accidentally hurt our boobs....lol

  • @ImmortalSynn ya! my guy friend even says jumping isnt easy when u r a guy, ya alot of girls like to joke, i dont joke though

  • why did they have to do it bareback???!

  • @xHollyxxxGerryx

because that's the whole point of a bareback competition class.
