i have this memory of YMG being on tv (something else?) perhaps in 1980, and on the same show was the first time I had seen Joy Division, (who performed transmission). Nest day at school everyone was talking about Joy division but i preferrred YMG. I also think Boy george was reviewing and said joy division were bettre, which I took up with him in person a while later when I saw him at a Theater of hate gig in the lyceum (still before the days of culture club)
I attended Futurama2, this band were one of my main reasons for going, there were some great bands on, but it was an awful venue, being a smoothie at the time I spent most of the festival, avoiding fights with drunken woolyback skins/punks.
But YMG were great, I think they went onto to become Weekend, who also made some very good records.
@sigurros16 nirvana and r.e.m. are both fucking awesome bands you moron. fucking cooly! music snob! neither band has a bad record and both have had huge impacts on alternative music! what have you done? fuck all that's what. goober!!
@roejogan8 I totally agree. "The greatest thing they did was influence the slowcore movement" Bah. Um...I only like bands that are kind of obscure where actually in my circle of friends everybody likes them. Scenester Douche.
@kappser your comment is kind of confusing. is this your idea of an insult, you fucking nerd! i was picking up for r.e.m. and nirvana. i like tons of bands that aren't obscure. fucking idiot! ac/dc, the cars, abba, the beatles, leonard cohen, public enemy, neil young, radiohead, david bowie, aerosmith, black sabbath, sex pistols, queen, cheap trick, the who, and MANY more. to quote a ymg song. DON'T LABEL ME. fucking peice of shit.
@kappser i had no idea. i still find the comment a bit confusing. i thought you were being sarcastic. i take it back. all of the rude things i said. it's cool you like ymb and the wipers.
@roejogan8 lol your the troll kid, fighting with people on youtube, great life you must have, real nice life you have made for your self, your pro mate a pro troll
@MaaaarrJ still didn't learn from my grammar lesson? it's YOU'RE, dummy. you said something to me first, so technically it is you who is fighting with me. so you fight with people on youtube and have a porn addiction... not looking good, broham. now run along, runt! you picked a fight with the wrong guy.
@MaaaarrJ YOU'RE ya clown. it's like beating a dead horse trying to teach you something. i'm not a clone of anyone. my record collection would leave a person in awe if they ever saw it. i'm sure mr. cobain would just love a scumbag like you hoping for someone to die of aids.
@roejogan8 hahahaha sure you have a record collection, your your your record collection must be pro mate,im sure "mr Cobain" as you so eloquently put it would be so proud of his little clone :D
@MaaaarrJ i do little man. over 1000 records to be exact. and what do you mean pro? it's not a sport, it's a record collection you inarticulate little shit. and actually i heard about ymg's through r.e.m., not kurt. you like kings of leon bro. get a grip.
@roejogan8 i actually do know about the music you have listed, you dont and never will, you will always be on the outside looking in ,im done talking to you know "YOUR" boring me,bye nerd have a smile :D
@MaaaarrJ i think it's time to take your medication now, little buddy. i own every record on that list on cd and vinyl. like i said, it's less than 10 percent of what i listen to and i GUARANTEE you only know some of it. now go listen to some of those albums you have never heard. they are recommended by a genius.
This band predated Cobain actually. Listen to their song Salad Days - Cobain totally ripped that on off. He cited them as one of his biggest influences.
Devine y Statton le suena de algo a alguien????Hicieron dos discazos preciosos,"The Prince of Wales"y "Cardiffians",vaya cruz encontrarlos!!!Los tengo en cassette,a ver quien los tiene en cds o lo que sea!!!

aaa well neither nirvana nor r.e.m. are great bands to be proud of have had been an influence...
the greatest thing YMG did was to influence the slowcore movement, in my opinion.

Grand! There's a lot of YMG in early REM. Peter Buck said he listened to Colossal Youth every day for two years. I can believe it.
