Lets look at the US. Our cities have some of the highest murder rates, the US has had the most school shootings(1 in my county), we have had countless serial killers and predators, we suffered the worst terrorist attack 9/11, WTC bombings, 150 clinic bombings and fires at clinics from christians, DC sniper, murderous cults and mass suicides. The shoe bomber and nigerian bomber recently. were a prime target for terrorism. If an enemy gets nukes, we are screwed so we are prone to danger as well.

It was worse in the US during the depression. Poverty, crime, racism, illegal immigrants(from Europe - Italians, Russians, Irish) causing crime. And today, your most likely to die in US cities than in Mexico from petty thugs and crazies. And Lebanon has been used as a battle ground ever since Israel was created. Today, tensions are high in Israel, Iran, and the Middle East. Lebanon could be used as a battle ground again. No reason to be in an unstable area where Iran is probably making nukes.
