@steelerhog you can also use Google Earth or a good Rand McNeely map too and it will be super super super accurate. If you put on the orange ribbon (not the green ribbon) it will seal the deal.
do people getting a house survey normally get those mounuments like that - i really think they are great and am buying a new house but do not know if I want to spend all that money... I could stake it myself... i got tons of rebar
Actually surveyors use section corners or quarter corners when doing a boundary survey. If you are getting an elevation established the surveyor will use a vertical control monument. The monument in this video is actually a horizontal control monument used for georeferencing and assigning coordinates to a survey.

I stuck in some rebar for a friend of mine.....I am much more accurate than a surveyor.....all you need is a iphone and some orange flagging

@steelerhog once you put the re-bar in it's the god number. If you put survey ribbon on it that makes it much more accurate.
