  • tone please

  • nice... good sound quality, dude.

  • That's a great one you got from the POD XT> i really want to find that tone!

  • OMG that was so crispy

  • *Maddd Skillzzzz* ! (:

    ..You're Welcomee.. :D

  • Yo, nice cover dude. Now write some killer originals! What are you using for your tone? are you plugged direct into something or is that a mic'd amp?

  • fred is a beast!

  • what gauge strings do u have?

  • tuning?

  • @poiuytrewq95 Is it really SO hard to read the video description? If I've tabbed the song out, chances are you'll find the tuning out by looking at the tab. Not meaning to rag on you in particular, I'm just faintly sick of being expected to answer inane questions that you could easily answer yourself.

  • @Fredbaty oh shit srry about that i feel stupid now :P well by the way... are they guitar pro tabs or what because they are downloads sry to bother

  • @Fredbaty Agreed bud nice cover....slightly sharp you should use a needled tuner....Helps alot :) Good luck playin bud I liked this cover

  • @VeilOfMayaOwnsYou Cheers dude. I do actually have a proper tuner, but the original version of this song (haven't actually checked if it's different on the album version) was tuned about a quarter tone sharp of BbGCFAD for some reason, so I had to do it by ear. With hindsight, that also means that my response to poiuytrewq95 was a tiny bit dickish, but hey, I'm a dick I guess!

  • @Fredbaty Yea man sharps are hard to get.....Flats are easier in my opinion....Less noticable if it's off....cause you can usually just play a bit harder and it sounds fine....But I usually just keep my guitar in C.....Easy and fun....sounds good....I should learn a Periphery song tho and upload it :)....I'm think The fast ones

  • @Fredbaty You could use an audio editing program to drop the pitch of your track down a quarter step.

  • hey man that was an awesome fucking cover! tight!

however you made a critical error, you palm muted the djents on the low a# in between riffs such as intro riffs and bits like 2:54 aside from that fucking sick job!!

  • fuck dude your really good your gonna be fuckin amazing in 5 years I mean really fuckin amazing. Im very jellous :)

  • yep! shredded it well!

  • well done, sir.

  • Hey, nice job you've done here, man! Also nice tone achieved. Loved it.

  • Dude. This fucking rocks. Your really good man.

  • for all those wondering about tabs/tunings, look at description on the right.

i checked it out, but can only play the section from 1:33 to 1:58. lol. it's a start i guess. also playing on a classical guitar is not the best idea. =)

anyway, fred, good work. thanks for the transcriptions. i definitely use this one and the Super Mario Medley. that one is a crowd pleaser at my house.

  • what tuning?

  • nice vid man, totla mad skills! ^^

Have you tabbed this out yourself by ear?

  • Hey man, thanks for the comment. Yeah, I did indeed tab everything out by ear, although being able to see the positions Misha plays it in on his video certainly helped a fair amount!

  • Awesome! What amp are you using?

  • thats music ! respect dude !

  • There you go, finally got round to it!

  • it sounds really good. I hjate how tense you are tho. Ur hands move like almost too precisely, especially when ur doing the tapping. Lighten up a bit and feel the music

  • Yeah, sorry about that - the hosting company went bust a while back and I still haven't got round to updating links. Will try and do so when I've sorted something else out.

  • ps. you find the chords really well. not the easiest ones and plenty to remember there.

  • and the action on that thing. must be almost a third of the working class shit I had.

  • youre good, even really good. but holy SHIT do you have a Way better guitar and amp than I ever did. If I had that shit Id be one of the best by now. Your left/right co-ordination is great, your plucking is great. but jesus is it easier with decent pickups like them instead of the shitty $100 replica guitar I had to put up with through my guitar decades.

  • The only electric guitar I had for the first 6 years of my 10 years of playing was a Yamaha Pacifica 012 I got for 85 GBP, not to mention that the guitar I'm playing in this video is a standard RG7321 with stock pups I bought for ~250 GBP. But thanks for the kind words regardless.

  • tone is all in the fingers, my friend. all in the fingers. no excuses

  • ALL in the fingers? :P

  • umm amp not fingers

  • true, i agree. i dunno why you got neg repped for that, it;s kinda silly.

  • not bad kid

  • The notes in some of those chords are meant to be held I think. A few mistakes here and there but a good solid take overall. Hail to the

    djent!

One thing I noted: isn't this meant to be played on a 6 string in standard D with drop Bb? I can understand the tuning issue, but I manage to keep in tune with standard gauge strings on a shitty epiphone SG...

  • dude:] how old are you

  • a+ impressive

  • dude.... you're AWESOME!!!

  • What string gauges do you use?

  • bro. thnx for the infos i bought an erny ball gauge 12 the number 6 string is gauged 56 is that ok?

  • 56 should be absolutely fine, but unless you want bloody fingers I wouldn't recommend using 12s for the remaing strings, haha.

  • thanx for the tip.. do you have 8 strings guitar? fuck yeah bad ass man! can u advice me whats the best 7 string guitar not expensive but sick to use... i know your really good at this hope to hear from you man thanx alot.

  • Yeah, I got a custom Agile 8-string earlier this year after saving a looong time. Will do some vids with it when I have a moment.

I'd go with a 2nd-hand RG7620, RG7421, RG7321 or S7320. Whichever of those you can find. 7321's going to be the cheapest but not the best (still, I'm perfectly happy with mine). Either way I'd go for Ibanez. Otherwise, actually, Agile Interceptor Pros are very, very nice guitars for the money. Check out Rondo Music. Peace.

  • @failedhero Or try some schecter 7 string models

  • bro. did you tab this song? can i ask you a favor? i want to play this song.. hope its ok

  • dude.. what an awesome sound.. i need advice what pedal you are using to sound like that heavy?hope to hear from you thnx..

  • he's using a line 6 pod xt live as a pedal. and the reason this song is so heavy is the low tuning, the tuning is drop G i think or something close to that

  • thanx bro. . what string gauges did he use? hope to hear from you again much respect

  • well Drop G is closer to a seven string tuning than standard E a d g b e tuning. so i would suggest getting some seven string guitar strings. and not using the thinnest string. that will allow you to go to low tunings such as G. but be careful as it might strain your guitar neck. i would ask in the guitar shop before trying it yourself.

  • Sorry, only just saw this. I use a set of Elixir Nanoweb 9s as the first 6 strings, then an Ernie Ball 56 for the 7th string. Or at least that's what I use on my 8-string, with an Ernie Ball 72 for the 8th. Can't actually remember what's on my RG7321 at the moment but it's roughly the same.

  • Love this song!!! You play it well!!

  • sweet man nice one!

  • what guitar is that?

  • nice job. man, the next generation of guitar players is gonna be insane. i wish i grew up listening to periphery and sikth, and started playing guitar at age 4 lol.

  • wats the tuning on this song?

  • whats teh tuning on this?

  • Comment removed

  • tone/sound of this video sounds better than bulbs...hahah.

  • Great tone. Amazingly clean man :D

Hate to ask but do you have the tabs?

  • You're so good! Love this song

  • FUCK YESS !!!

  • awesome work dude!

  • Wow! Blown away again! What're you usin in this vid (Guitar wise) It embaresses me to ask, I should know this.

  • Your tone is amazing.

  • Woah, great job dude!

Even the mistake sounded good lol (you covered it up well)

  • how did you record the podxt? riffworks? i have no idea how to go around it, any info would be helpful. thanks.

  • Left output into my Edirol UA25 (audio interface) and then into Cakewalk SONAR LE (DAW), right output into my Roland Cube 60, which was mic'ed with a RODE NT5, into the Edirol and then into SONAR. It's simpler than it sounds!

  • Well done!! You have mad talent for your age. Put some of your own shit on here!!

  • Thanks for the tab man :) fantastic job on the tune too, wicked stuff. I wonder if bulb was listening to Scent of the Obscene a lot when he wrote this one..

  • +1 for the adequate comparison

  • SUPER JOB DUDE.!!!

    Mish would be proud

  • Awesome tone! :D

  • thanks for the tab

    fantastic job :D

  • Awesome job covering that dude-

  • Great playing dude. The tone is insanely good too. I may think about buying a POD XT after hearing that.

  • great playing and great tone

  • badass. first quality bulb cover ive seen.

  • Very nice.

    5 stars!

  • YOU ARE COMPLETELY AMAZING!!!

i'm learning to play the guitar.. i've watchin videos about people playing it.. but ur the best!! amazing! 5 stars! *****

  • that's one djenty cover of the greatest djentleman ever...

  • Hey dude great job on the cover and the tab! i used your tab to post my own cover of the song :P so yeah just thought i'd thank you for posting up the tab!

  • Great tone and nice style =]

  • this is so good!

watching your videos makes me wish i could play some sort of instrument haha

  • awesome. although i miss your acoustic performances!!!

  • Another great performance !!!

  • wow, that was beautiful!

    your very talented.

    have you been sponsored yet?

  • Really good job man.

Props for covering anything of bulbs.

  • Great chops!

  • awesome cover :D real good tone, what gear do you use to get that tone? , it was easier to learn the song by watching this video than mishas ^^

  • Haha, hopefully the tab up there should help a little too!

The tone is from a combination of direct out from my Pod XT Live and a mic'ed Roland Cube 60.

  • first of all

    your tone

only one word can describe it: djent

    Amazing Job

  • Nice job dude, boxers showing or not, good show!

    love,

    bulb

  • Thanks very much dude! Glad you liked it.

Question though - I had to tune my guitar about a quarter tone sharp of BbGCFAD to play along with the MP3 up at your SoundClick... Any reason for this? Your video seems to be completely in tune, on the other hand. No biggy, I just thought it was a bit strange!

  • so its a quarter step up then huh? cause i was playin a long with your powertab but i am playin the opening riff on 3 instead of 4 on G

  • Well, the notes in the Powertab are exactly what I'm playing here, but yeah, in order to play along with Bulb's MP3 I had to tune up (roughly) a quarter tone.

  • well wth is wrong with my tuning. i tuned it with my chromo tuner and it is still wrong :/

  • Bulb replied on a forum that his guitar was out of tune in the video by a bit. The soundclick version should be in tune but he didnt tune it right in the video or something

  • Just read this and the forum post - I'm 100% that the SoundClick version isn't in tune (I had to tab from it!), and from what he's posted there it sounds as though he's saying neither that nor his video are - it's "between" B and Bb. Ah well, not that important, I was just intuh-rested.

  • Damn dude! That was nice! :) And thanks for the comment :D

  • Rythm is good and the tapping notes are pure.

Nice to hear but the song is not my favorite.

    Brilliant technicity anyway.

  • dude you have so much talent, a gift really. And yet, you spend it on this music. I suppose to each is his own, but I feel like you could put it to real music, with melodies. Don't get me wrong, if this makes you happy, than happiness is life. I just think there is so much more potential

  • you dont realize how much musical talent metal has, much more than just about all other genres out there if you find the right metal, except for maybe jazz.

  • Eeesh, I'm very wary of the idea that metal isn't "real music, with melodies". In this song alone there's a very definite sense of melody in the chorus-type bit and the section shortly afterwards, but regardless of that fact music very definitely does not need melody in order to be real music.

Anyway, the fact is that without metal I would not have progressed in the slightest on guitar in the past few years. My main musical output will always be acoustic, but don't underestimate metal!

  • I understand fully, like I said, I don't want to take away from you what makes you happy and makes you feel like you want to play everyday, it's just my opinion. That's all, just thoughts.

  • what makes metal though is that unstable sound of not having much of a melody

  • You just don't understand this music at all. It's been hugely influenced by jazz. This is complex art my friend and this guy performs it awesomely :P

  • What's "not-real" in this music, exactly?

  • Great work, man. You've got some serious skills, gotta love the almighty polyrhythm :)

  • Good cover.

BUT WHY ARE YOU NOT WEARING THE SIGNATURE BULB GREEN PLAID BOXERS OF DOOM?!?!

  • :(. The only plaid boxers I own unfortunately had all the djent ripped out of them after an overenthusiastic lunge the other day. True story. I like to think it's also the reason I'm not as good as Bulb, but that's debatable...

  • Sounds cool. Not really my style, but you've got skills. Well done.
