  • RETYPE WATCH SHOP ANDREA MCLEAN RECTANGLE WATCH CIRCLE WATCH SHAPE

  • Im from germany, a friend told me about the weakerthans.

Im looking forward to see them in a few days :)

    Just awesome!

  • I know i've been awake too long when every line in this song makes me giggle hysterically :D

  • Canada is the Shit. No disrespect to other countries but thats just the way she is.

  • @gimp109 According to Aaron Funk, Winnipeg is a frozen shithole.

  • @gimp109 canada's gay you fag

  • Perfect song and video for someone visiting and doing research in Antarctica.

  • I really need this band to come to Austin, TX. Like now.

  • Its a great band, and the video its extremely funny!

  • Much love from Oakbank, Manitoba!

  • haha, john's geeky voice. "It's of vital importance to my research!"

  • oh john k. samson<3

  • That sound during the first 30 seconds... boots on REALLY cold snow. Unbelievably distinctive. Never felt more Canadian than when I (having the screen minimized) shivered from just hearing the noise, and could put the temperature within a 5-degree (Celcius, of course) range.

  • I want to get high on the moon while dancing to this song. It is a simple wish.

  • The Weakerthans are one of the few things that make me proud to have grown up in Winnipeg

  • This is better than the actual Dancing on ice.

  • The Weakerthans always know how to pluck at your heartstrings. This song makes me feel all warm and happy, but there's that bit at the end where you see him frozen that just breaks your heart a bit...

  • great great song

(and the girl is real ;) )

  • what's everyone complaining about? this band is totally comparable to weezer. maybe you just haven't heard weezer's first few albums. i love both these bands.

  • Pinkerton gets me hot.

  • that penguin that he was swinging was real. k.

  • weezer sucks, don't ever compare such crap with such an amazing band

  • @xxhappyemo ??

  • friends of A.K. Press :)

  • fuck weezer, weakerthans rule!accompany me when i trying to sleep

  • well this is interesting O.O

  • love them....am i the only one that thinks they kinda have a weezer feel to them. maybe it's his voice idk i really cant put my finger on it

  • your absolutely right

  • Both are very simplistic, with deeper messages.

  • I love this song and band so much. John Samson writes some of the best lyrics I've ever heard.

  • does anyone know where they filmed this? probably in northern canada?

  • @noahtavlin

Looks like Lake Manitoba or Lake Winnipeg in late winter some time. Only a band from Manitoba can make a video that is supposed to be Antarctica, and film it their backyard... lol!

    This song rocks btw...

  • one great country.

  • I must show this video to my French teacher, she will love it.

  • comme ci, comme ca!

  • LOVE these guys! Wish they would visit northern Ontario!

  • I know! They always play in Winnipeg, and skip over to Southern Ontario. :'(

  • nice mustache

  • this is one of my favorite fuckin songs

  • love it when he says "top ball" :p

  • Oh thanks! I had no idea.

  • Is it just me or does the guy who looks like shackleton really look like shackleton but bald? A genius parody of early arctic exploration.

  • It's supposed to look like Michel Foucault. He was gay, that's why he gave the explorer flowers.

  • David Cross does sing... as part of Three Times One Minus One, from Mr Show and Run Ronnie Run, for example

  • Very happy I had there albums, greeeeatest band ever.

  • how many do they have out

  • 3. "Reunion Tour", "Reconstruction Site", and "Left And Leaving"

  • john samson ex propagandhi, both rule

  • HAH! You're right. =D

  • I love the Weakerthans! John Sutton is the Tits!

  • You mean John Samson, right?

  • Why haven't I heard of this band before?

  • Because they're too awesome to be known. Good music is never known by many people.

  • Well said.

  • totally agree

  • @Doozanopia spoken like a true hipster...

  • @Doozanopia So the Beatles aren't good music? You know I think everyone has a faze where they think it's cool to listen to only music that nobody else seems to know about, but then most people turn 12 and grow up enough to realise it's best to just listen to whatever the hell sounds good, regardless of notoriety

  • @Doozanopia You are so full of shit. There is a lot of good music which is also well-known.

  • @Octavarium99 Actually, I agree with you on that one. A lot of good music is unheard of, at least by people around where I live, but there's also a lot of good music that people have heard of. When I wrote that (two years ago, you'll notice), I was kind of a hipster-idiot type. Not implying that hipsters are idiots, just that I was when I was like them.

  • @Doozanopia hahaha sorry brah I was hammered drunk listening to music on YouTube! Came across as a dick! 'sall good :)

  • @Doozanopia It's the Indie Theorum! The fewer the people that know the band, the better the music! So the ultimate band out there would never have been heard by anyone ;o It's kind of like the God thing. If you know he's real, he's suddenly not!

  • @Akirababe Glad I'm not the only one who reads Questionable Content.

  • @Doozanopia :D definitely my favourite webcomic.

  • canadians finest.

the signer was formely a propagandhi members.

  • They were even unknown at the Future Shop or HMV in Thunder Bay when I asked for a CD

Then again..... that doesn't surprise me

  • love this band so much!!!!! this song is GREAT!!!

  • love this band so much!!!!! this song is GREAT!!!

  • INUIT POWER

  • I love this band!

  • ROFLMFAO!!!

  • NO... The Hanson Brothers ;)

  • The voice overs at the beginning are hilariously bad. I laugh every time. I think it was intentional though.

  • They make me want to be Canadian.

  • This song changed my life!

  • The thought of Foucault giving John K Samson a book by Derrida, always makes me smile.

    This band is wonderful.

Hillside INside was great--especially the faces John K made, as they played Left and Leaving out of tune....

    oh the pain!:)

  • i'm going to see them today!

  • Yeah! Hillside Inside. I was there too! I love this song; it mentions Derrida and John K Samson dances with a penguin. What's better?

  • a pity i get to know abt the weakerthans only now

  • i know eh Jenholic there amazing i just got told about them like 10 mins ago

  • yea their music is v pleasing to the ears man cheers from singapore btw!

  • You're just upset because John said Ska sucked.

  • great video, makes you smile

  • my favourite part is when john k and the penguin spin together!

  • These guys are great - a very intelligent group

  • he sounds like a young and punky version of neil young. it fuckin rocks.

  • I was so happy they played this. I love the dance moves as well. This video just makes me happy. Sweet.

  • i love their dance moves

  • The only band to mention Derida and penguins in the same song. Can't wait to see them again soon!

  • does The Band count as Canadian?

  • a great video. I worked on this video with a friend and teacher Randy Guest. We filmed this out in Gimli and studio here in Winnipeg, it was fun.

  • Where is Gimli?

  • "Shackleton" Invited the high seat chair ....its lovely!

  • The best canadian band ever !

  • Wow, it's been ages since I've seen this video, and I only got to see it once on "The Wedge". Loved the song then, and still love it now. Thanks for posting this little gem! :)

  • indeed sir

  • THERE TALKING ABOUT HOLLOW EARTH!

  • this song has always been one of my favorites... well, not always, but ever since i first heard it.

  • this song is dedicated to earnest shackleton

  • The Weakerthans made this music BECAUSE Winnipeg is a dump, their songs make it seem like this city a better place to live in.

  • Love this band, even if the video makes no sense. Great song, one of my favs.

  • great band

  • Only the Weakerthans can write a song abouta dieing explorer and make it funny... ALice Cooper may be able to pull it off too

  • God bless this band

  • I think it's funny how he's there for 6 months, and he dies on the first day.

    Sad, but funny

  • I have this sudden urge to move to Winnipeg... when are they coming to Vancouver!!

  • Ahhh, I love that song. Makes me giggle. I am in love with that penguin. (:

  • lolz dancing penguins r my thing although theres no civilization in the antarctic it still looks better than winnipeg.

  • i like the dancing eskimos

  • umm... yeah. they're not eskimos they're arctic explorers. it's sort of what the song is about. they dont even look like eskimos...

  • and "eskimo" is politically incorrect. Inuit is the word my friends.

  • Shove the politically correctness up your ass, seriously.

  • You want to call yourself a Weakerthans/Propagandi fan and be politically incorrect? Obviously you know nothing about what either band stands for. You're probably homophobic too?

    Asshole!

  • haha, propagandhi really don't care about political correctness at all

  • good stuff. thanks.

  • (L)

  • 2:39 , HAHA

  • I love you John K. Samson. Keep singing your sweet songs.

  • I loveeeeeeeeee this song and video!

  • I didn't buy this new LP yet, maybe I should.

John really expanded on his vocal abilities since

    his propagandhi heydays

  • Another great video by The Weakerthans, thanks for posting it

  • Hehe, what a cute video. xD
