I would recommend trying a Stork mouthpiece, I used bach's for a while, but the stork has a conical bore, and a much rounder lip. Its all personal preference, but i love my Stork 3d
also I suggest you try experimenting with raising and lowering the bell, especially with this song, lowering the bell gives it more of a muted sound because your throat closes more, which goes well with the subtlelties in the song, holding the bell straight ahead misses out on that
if you want to verify that do it while someone is facing away from you, ask them if they can tell if there is a difference but don't tell them what you are doing, or have another player do it while you listen
a 1 mpc seems a little excessive, I've never gone higher than a 3, I know classical players do use a 1, I think it just makes it more difficult
with the Bach 37s there is a big difference between the lightweight models with the star on the bell and the regular weight model, I prefer the lightweight model and your's sounds like one of those
There's nothing wrong with his tone. It's airy, yes, but that's perfectly acceptable in the jazz idiom. You boys don't know what you're talking about. The intonation on the top notes isn't great, actually intonation suffers overall, but the tone is fine.
U just need to work on not splating I do that all the time when I'm playing a exciting song it's not that bad though! =) Good job try playing James Bond
mate ur struggling the notes so dont even try to play high lol , + this is a grade 2 piece! the grace note or whatever they are part shudnt be staccato
good playing but sounds like your mouthpiece is too big. i think i read in another comment that it's a bach 1? try something smaller like a 5b or 4c. might feel weird at first but will probably eventually give you a better tone. good luck and keep playing!!
I tried quite a few before settling on this one. I liked the tone and the valve action is quite good for playing faster. I would recommend that it be in your list of trumpets to definitely consider, but there is no substitute for trying several using a good sampling of the types of music you want to play. Good luck!
What notes do you play?

Pretty darn good. =) Your tone's a little airy, but it works well for jazz. Just use a bit more air on the higher notes to support it. Great job!

The Bach Strad 37 is an amazing horn. I got one in August and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

RainxSiN 3 years ago
i have a 72 and its the best investment iv ever made so i can only guess that another strad is going to be good
armstrong911 3 years ago
haha. i play a 37 and my trumpet tacher let me try his 72. that 72 takes a hell of a lot more air but the sound is incredible
