@crewe99 I guess... well has a pro, you've to be sure what are you doing, shake again probably would ruin the cocktail, cause of the ice, well thats my opinion...
When you attach a pourer spout onto your bottle you can time a 50ml measure fairly easily it just takes practise... and then, well, it almost becomes second nature.
Dude, great videos but you need to smile now and then! I think "angry" works for Gordon Ramsey's demos but you just seem so mad when you're making these drinks... good recipes though!
Most cocktails, the classics anyway, contain Lime or Lemon juice. You only double strain if its served straight up, usually in a martini glass (i can't think of any exceptions served in ohter glasses). Double straining removes all the seeds, smaller pieces of fruit and shards of ice which slip through a hawthorne strainer so the drink looks as cloudless and crisp as possible. Try making two Daiquiris, single strain one and double strain the other and you will see the difference in appearence.
in this cocktail he double strains it because, the daiquiri is with no ice, buttt when you shake it, ice breaks... and the tin srtainer cant stop the small pieces of the ice... thats why...
Not as such, this is said to be JFK's favourite drink so not really that girly! Daiquiris also use fresh lime, unlike its colonial sister the sour which uses lemon. Some people consider it to be girly, but the drink consists mostly of rum so it depends on how girly the girl is!
When he says, "quick taste, to check the balance" if its not right does he just add the extra amount of whatever is missing, shake and taste again?
crewe99 11 months ago
@crewe99 Yea I was wondering that? What if you mess up the balance, what do you do? Chuck it out and start again?
kaschax 8 months ago
@kaschax yes. you cant serve shit to people. and if you cant do a balance daiquiri......... well... change work :)

You'll need a lime wedge on that drink with only the juice of two in it.

Hm only 12.5 mils of lime, barspoon of sugar and 50 mils rum. How is it possible that the result looks much more ?

Dilution from the ice, plus it is served in a fairly small glass.
Dont forget the martini glass appears to be fuller due to its shape - a wide top but narrow near the stem.

because he's only using a 5oz martini glass

Free pouring.
Its pretty common in cocktail bars.

Hi, do I need that sugarkane syrup stuff? Can I make it home instead?
ZippOnFire 2 years ago
I'd say the only reason to buy the Funkin cane sugar syrup is purely for the bottle, just something to serve it from.
After that just make your own, try this video below:

when cocktails contain lime or lemon I noticed you double-strain. If that's true, then why?
thanks
