This ad came out shortly before Intellivision was discontinued. Around Matell, game programmers used "We're closed now!" as a catch phrase once they new they were all about to be unemployed.
@ninelivecat i was thinking the same thing lol Ike in a video game commercial he needs to be in more movies and he must of been pissed off at that chef and i wonder if you show him this commercial now i wonder what he would say
Remeber in grade school that story about the girl who fingered herself with a hot dog, only to have the hot dog break off in her vagina and she had to be rushed to the hospital where a doctor pulled it out for her. Was it just me, or do all boys hear about this story in the 4th grade around the nation?
I remember when this ad SCARED THE SHIT out of me. Kept me up for weeks! Would be nice to find fear in this now. The only thing that scares me is what happened to the actors.
OMG!!! I remember this one big time; I used to laugh my ass off when this would come on. This was around 1982 or so, a damn near 30 years ago. And, it was the 80's, when everyone had money, because everyone had a job!
Reply to DoughboyJonesmk2s comment. I dont know you would thank that the people who grew up playing games like this would make some great commercials. The only video game commercials they seem to make these days are ones for the music rhythem games that require a special controller that you need. Dont get me wroung I new video games but they really just dont compare to stuff like burger time, especially if 80% of new video games are music rhythem those games are still fun but theirs just to many
what the shit? burger time never seemed like an ominous game to me before, but that buger man and the nazi hotdog... *Shudders* that's gonna give me nightmares.
Awesome! Very retro, scifi-ish, with cool sound effects (as the 80's were just great), and that mad Hotdog at the end kinda reminds one of King Diamond (of all people).
i have this game on the nes.... weren't there like 20 different levels before the game repeated? as a kid in the early 1990's this drove me crazy as i felt games had to have an ending / purpose other than to build up points
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that was Ike Eisenmann, aka Tony from Escape/Return to Witch Mountain ordering the burgers... and the wavering noise just as the chef shouts "Help me!" sounded like something out of the movies too... interesting...
We're closed now!!! Gave me the chills as a kid. Great commercial!!

My family poked fun of me because the we're closed now guy made me scream when I was a year old. Cant believe I found this! lol

Generally when you hear "HELP ME" it means call the police, not try and sneak a peak at the action.

Weird how they actually explain the games premise in the commercial, they usually just edit a bunch of clips together and say "This game rocks!"

What a jewel. I would really want to have that background music for yummy electro. No, not "where can I get it". I just "WISH". I don't want it.
nostyleja 4 years ago
My band learned to play the theme.
molybdenumtop 4 years ago
"HELP ME!" usually means call the police as opposed to sneak a peek at what's going on from the Drive-Thru window, putting yourself at risk.
Course, you usually expect the phrase "Would you like fries with that" instead of "HELP ME!"
:D
Good stuff.
