@Brockett122 - search for this on YouTube: "A New Chancel Pipe Organ for Saint Thomas Church, New York, City" - maybe it might redress the balance of your viewpoint. There is clearly little about the current organ that is either marvellous or historic.
Consider the singing of hymns with this sort of accompaniment (especially the last minute) with Latin words - for an hour or two at a time. Is this done anywhere in the world on a regular basis? What if this was the totality of a religious service? Or how about a non-penetential, non-sacrificial, ecumenical Latin service, based upon the Sermon on the Mount - sung alternatim - celebrating the Divinity Within Humanity? Should every service be a sort of an exorcism - driving the demonic from Earth?
@Episcopalcriticiser Have you never experienced the joys of sex? Making music and making love are very closely related. Many people smoke a cigarette and take a shower after engaging in sexual intercourse. I do so after listening to Pierre Cochereau improvise.
Rouen is such a glorious hymn tune full of majesty! The improvisation is wonderful but the hymn tune played straight forward from 3:04 on is simply magnificent! The pedal reeds are incredible and the trompette 'en chamade' stop at the very end adds a powerful, final exclamation point!
What a shame this place feels the need to rip out this marvelous, historic instrument, because the new organist decided he doesn't like it.

@redletterchurch No, I just wanted to know why one should feel like he needs to smoke a cigarette and take a shower after listening this.
