Ok quick question for any bmw enthusiasts on here. I bought an 86 BMW 325 e bout 3 years ago for $2250, with only 32,000 miles on it, now I just broke the 50k mark. Just wondering what you think it would be worth. Body is in good condition just average wear from driving, and interior is great besides slight wear on drivers side see, but no cracking.
@westr483 the car with such miles and good condition is worth alot (with clean title and original engine), especially for the younger bmw fanatecs who are just getting their first car or want a quick good looking vehicle. The average price i see for these cars is 2500, but all with higher miles and dents and somewhat ripped interior. check the value online, there is many great sites
i have an 1986 325e also. i paid $1200 and i wanna change motors also. i am still trying to find more info on upgrade ideas. i can send u some photos by phone. not that good on the computer. (414)334-5001
@ShipYardFilms can you pm me a site where i can find them so cheap? and to answer your question, YES, if there is nothing wrong with it there is no need to think twice, these are awesome cars and can run for ever if taken care of, i want to buy 86i but cant find them as cheap as you found it
Hey quick question I am currently interested in bmw's I love foreign cars and thought a 3 series would make a great project I just want to know if they are difficult to work on? would you recommend it for a project? I own an Audi a4 and it is a nightmare to get under the hood of it!!! =/ hope to hear from you soon.
im glad you mentioned this car is a great investment because im buying one for $1000 with 145,000 miles which is not bad in my opinion i just wanted to ask if the engine is the 2.7L inline straight 6 engine if you know i would love to get a response back thanks...
@ablockproduction Yes its the 2.7L straight six. The 2.7 is a economy, low revving, high torque engine. I cruise around the mountains where i live at 35MPG which is awesome. The best part is the engine is not weak either. Being it has about 170 ft lbs of torque it can get from 0-60 in about 8-9 seconds. Then adding to the greatness, like i said above, the 2.7 lasts much much longer than the 2.5 does. Its just all around a good engine. You will love the car. Lots of fun!
@RCkid8 yeah i would too, but my volvo is like a spaceship.. The volvo has 280HP and that keeps the smile on my face. I just use the bmw as a little toy for the corners and all..
@RCkid8 Nah, unfortunately its the fwd model.. S70. But i mean, as long as you know how to drive it, its no big deal. People think you can drive all cars the same, but thats just not true. With the bmw i can go flying into a corner and be fine. In the volvo ill under steer. another example, i can gun it going around a corner in the volvo, not in the bmw... FWD isnt that bad.. You just gotta be careful and stay ahead of the car and you'll be fine. The more power, the more you gotta pay attention
@UAL2958 ya i know what your talkin about, i have a 1996 didge intrepid and i went away for a week and i was driving a honda crv and that thing was soo under powerd to my dodge it felt like i had to learn how to drive agen ahah but driving the 07 3500 turbo diesel chevy was a blast!
have you done the engine swap if not which engine do you plan to swap in? I'm asking because im buying this same car but with 140,000 miles which is not bad but i want to do the same. Also wanted to ask were would be the best place i can get this done, i definitely can't do it myself..thanks!
Yes its a great Investment. If your getting it for $800 then most likely it has high miles. If get a '325i' model then the engine starts to break down around 250k miles. But if you get a '325e' model then the engines last forever. You can get 400k easy if you keep up on the maintenance. The best option if your not worried about power, is the '325' model. No 'e' and no 'i'. Its the eco engine with a 'i' chassi so you get the best of both worlds. A car that lasts forever and turns like no other
I have a 1986 bmw 325e also and i have a cracked dash 2 i bought mine for 600 and it had interior carpeting but needed tranny work
