Seeing this line of Barbie dolls reminds me what I tried to avoid in 1999-2001. I never listened to Britney Spears, N*Sync, Backstreet Boys, or Christina Aguilera like the other 11-13 year olds were into. Instead, I occupied my time with jazz (swing as my favorite), Old Hollywood glamour (Judy Garland & Gene Kelly? Yes, please), & musicals (We've got Annie!). I ♥ Barbie & I admit that today's teen pop is my guilty pleasure, but I don't miss the superficiality of the early 2000s.
