@HerrJamie Actually that's debatable although clothes serve a utilitarian purpose as well as an aesthetic purpose, perfume is way more utilitarian in the sense that most ppl will agree that all perfume is better than say the smell of poo :). However ppl will run the gamut on what they consider to be good fashion in terms of clothing styles.
@SalehaJaw Showers and deodorant is for not smelling BAD. Perfume also is used in this way but its more of something that is used as more of a statement etc
E.g. you wouldn't wear perfume to go work out or to do yard work, but you would wear deodorant.
Perfume is used on special occasions most the time. Used as a fashion statement pretty much. Being able to boast about wearing the latest and most expensive designer fragrance.

WELL.... since I am a lady, i know that certain i can somewhat predict what perfumes smell good because of the label on the bottle, since companies & brands can be known for making the better-smelling perfumes, so choosing labels can help in determining which perfume to buy. but OF COURSE, perfume cannot be bought on labels alone, considering the fact that people have different tastes in perfume and sampling it first is best. in my opinion, good smell=my purchase, regardless of the label.

I would choose the prada bottle first time round to honestly (although im not proud of this) show off a little but if it was icky smelling then i would switch to the big one. It's all about showing off that you have something popular and maybe rare like something high fashion. x :)
The idea is that a famous person or brand wouldn't want to put their name on a perfume that smells bad, because people will think less of the brand if they do. Prada probably didn't make the hypothetical perfume, but they will put their name on the best perfume because it will make people think of Prada as a high-end, good-quality company.

fashion has nothing to do with perfume, this should be a purely utilitarian choice I would choose the big bottle throughout ... no offense but yr sis isn't as bright as you charlie ;) ... ps ideally this should be a universal method of preference but i do know some people obsessed with labels hahaha common sense is not too common!

@HerrJamie Actually that's debatable although clothes serve a utilitarian purpose as well as an aesthetic purpose, perfume is way more utilitarian in the sense that most ppl will agree that all perfume is better than say the smell of poo :). However ppl will run the gamut on what they consider to be good fashion in terms of clothing styles.

@SalehaJaw Showers and deodorant is for not smelling BAD. Perfume also is used in this way but its more of something that is used as more of a statement etc
E.g. you wouldn't wear perfume to go work out or to do yard work, but you would wear deodorant.
Perfume is used on special occasions most the time. Used as a fashion statement pretty much. Being able to boast about wearing the latest and most expensive designer fragrance.

@HerrJamie my dear if you looked up the history of modern day formulation of perfume was actually invented to hide body odor :) there were no deos then and showers and soap last for just so long ... in any case what I was trying to say was tht say in the case of clothes designers may be able to impart their name to a creation, impart value to it and still make sense because there is so much room for risk but that margin of risk is divided by 2 first for genders and then further because

@HerrJamie ppl's preferences for scents are rather strictly defined. Hence themakers have to be the opposite of avant garde. anyhow its rather stupid to let fashion labels decide which perfume you choose esp if its shit but if i found sth rather unpalatable in clothes which came from a designer i respect i would say ok this guy studied fashion so maybe i m remiss and i might still wear it. 4 perfume i know i m always right for myself because there are some things i just dont want to smell like!

option c. steal both bottles, and put the prada label on the non-brand. simples. and most of tha time people will buy branded perfume or aftershave, because a bottle lasts a long time, and it's sitting in your room or bathroom so people would rather have a nicer bottle or box :p I'm a guy and I'd rather have something by paco rubane than tescos own :/

It's really all about brand names. I don't really understand it myself, but I know one of my aunts acts according to this philosophy and anything with a major brand label is the automatic buy. My little cousin had a juicy couture snowsuit when he was like 2. Keep in mind this cousin is a BOY. The snowsuit was pea green and had a furry hood. He looked like a rotten moldy dumpling. I completely and totally agree with your standpoint though

WELL.... since I am a lady, i know that certain i can somewhat predict what perfumes smell good because of the label on the bottle, since companies & brands can be known for making the better-smelling perfumes, so choosing labels can help in determining which perfume to buy. but OF COURSE, perfume cannot be bought on labels alone, considering the fact that people have different tastes in perfume and sampling it first is best. in my opinion, good smell=my purchase, regardless of the label.

At least that's what I do and even if it's supposed to be a clothing company they have skilled people working on the perfume, they just use their label to sell it more easily, they don't use the same people to design the clothes and to make the perfume

I would choose the prada bottle first time round to honestly (although im not proud of this) show off a little but if it was icky smelling then i would switch to the big one. It's all about showing off that you have something popular and maybe rare like something high fashion. x :)

The idea is that a famous person or brand wouldn't want to put their name on a perfume that smells bad, because people will think less of the brand if they do. Prada probably didn't make the hypothetical perfume, but they will put their name on the best perfume because it will make people think of Prada as a high-end, good-quality company.

It depends on what kind of person you want to be. Do you spends your money wisely, getting your money's worth, or do you sellout just to be snobby? Obviously, the other bottle is the better deal, but if you care more about brand, then knock yourself out.
