@mrbobevans ...Yoakam is from Pikeville, Kentucky; Garth Brooks comes from Tulsa, Oklahoma: Alan Jackson comes from Newnan, Georgia....and Randy Travis comes from Marshville, North Carolina. As I said....George Strait is TEXAS.
@mrbobevans I love George Strait, Dwight Yoakam, Randy Travis, Daryle Singletary, Garth Brooks, But i couldn't Live without my John Michael Montgomery!
i looked into it and kelly schopa was signed to the same record company and did in fact write this song and terry stafford stole it...this is in no way insulting george straight he is the king and him and schopa are now friends, but it is insulting staford he is a theif and needs to give his credit and money from this song to schopa
I was a regular at the Houston Wells Fargo while Kelly was the House Band, these were some of the best times I have ever spent. His music couldn't be matched by any singer or band in the greater Houston area, and all of us frequented most of them from Gilleys to the Yellow Rose and the Winchester, and not forgetting the Randy Conor club the Western Swing. I just wish I could tell him how much all of us enjoyed his music. ABM was his and will always be his.
probably the best song george does. I saw him live 3 times, and everytime he did this, it sent chills down my spine. with the double fiddles palying in unison. hes a great performer. no thrills or frills.
Makes me wanna take a back road...

kinda hard for stafford to give any credit, or money. he's been dead for 14 years.

Apparently my friend thinks this is a better song than U2's "I still haven't found what I'm looking for", he obviously does not know good music.

Those fiddle intros, fills, and backup in this song are as perfect for instrumental accompaniment possible.
