Aye he mentions harai but he is wrong its oguruma. harai is a sweeping motion. check out kano's nage no kata for harai goshi. if he was a proper judoka he'd know the difference.

Yes but O guruma you dont use your hip harai goshi is a hip throw and as you can see he is using his hips and then his leg in a sweeping motion ;P

hane goshi would have the leg more folded with the outside of his ankle against the inside of his thigh

You can have a hane with a regular grip. The difference in technique is more in the legs and position.

I love shonie. I used to think he sounded stupid, but it's a testament to his intelligence. He played up fights by acting crazy. He is really a smart man, with a good understanding of traditional martial arts. He is a solid judo player and a solid wrestler also. He is also educated! Great embassador for the sport.

i dont think this is o-goshi, the o-goshi has 2 feet planted on the ground and uses the rotation of the hip to throw, shonie is using a reaping motion

This is Harai Goshi! It would have been O-Goshi if he had both of his leg on the ground. Also if you listen to the video at the very end he said Harai Goshi. Good Luck :)

oh yeah, o goshi is rare, it's hard to get deep enough for it, and to finish a strong athletic person with it unles syou get deep. Harai, uchi mata, or hane goshi are better bets.
