@surferboy12345432123 Show her how responsible you can be. Write (or type, if you have a printer and computer handy) a full report on hamster health and all about the breed of hamster you want. Make it more than just one page to show how much you know. Use your best handwriting if your writing it, then show it to her when she is in a good mood. If you're too lazy to write the report, or don't even know what to write because you don't have a clue on hamster health or breeds, then don't get one.

@Tiffany9988667 Rat's need to be kept in pairs or they will become depressed. Also, get oxbow or harlan lab blocks (the healthiest lab blocks I know of). Lab blocks are better than mixes because the rat can't avoid what doesn't taste good. Make sure to supplement with veggies, too. Also, avoid ceder and pine bedding as it can give your rats a respiratory infection. (Avoiding anything with artificial scent is a good idea, too). Good luck with Gizmo :D

@Tiffany9988667 Make sure you get same sex pairs! Don't you know what happens when a male and female are put together? Babies! And no, having babies isn't as fun as it sounds: it's a huge responsibility. Rats have litters of 10-12 normally. As far as male names go, I'm not sure... But make sure you research intros and do them nice and slowly. Males can be aggressive.

Petco is fine for pet supplies, but no pets should be sold in a store. Supporting breeders will only result in many hamsters without homes though, protests need to be organized.

at petco, we keep the sick ones in the back so that you dont get attached to them and want to buy them. once they are well, they can be put back on the sales floor. oh and hamsters get sick all the time and live 3 years max. i dont know what petsmart does, but we take good care of our animals at petco.

I use that Care Freash bedding with my hamster, she loves it. The only down side to the different colors is that, with my hamster, she get mad at me when ever I change the color, so I don't do that anymore. If anyone is going to buys a hamster, I suggest looking for a Fancy Blac Bear Hamster, they are so nice, odd, devious, but nice, mine almost never bites. Adopt!

AWESOME vid!! I have a wire cage, a egg tray toy, a jungle gym (one of your vid's), a food bowl, a some kind of detergent powder for the hamster to bathe, a wheel and a bottle. Do I actually have to put the detergent for the hamster? And should I buy minerals or something like that? Please reply!! Remember you can always get a hamster from a shelter or a breeder. To be honest petco would be the last place I would go for a hamster. Petco sells hamsters by the ton everyday. Its sad to think that the hamster might go to a home where it might be neglected or has a home where some annoying kids might live. And they dont even care. Go to a shelter!
