Elephants can be very dangerous animals and there have been hundreds of keepers/handlers/trainers killed by elephants over the decades. Protected contact is the only way to manage elephants, without abuse and a bullhook, without beating an elephant into fear. Managing elephants in PC can accomplish everything in husbandry that is needed without putting elephants through a show like a circus and putting the public in danger.

But I am also interested in knowing more about how animals in captivity adapt and behave differently than animals in the wild.
