Want to know why? Cause the tech they are working with allowed that. What you could do with the NES and SNES was and still is limited by both its color palette and graphics capability. Since FF7's introduction into the work the FF series has slowly gotten much more flashy because the systems have allowed it to be. I know that if they could have FF1 would have had flashy as well and what they could do was rather flashy for the tech. It has allowed them to make the games that is in their heads.

Tina in the English release of Dissidia has been nerfed big time.  Meteor misses people who stand still and there are almost 1/3 the amount of them... and holy just goes haphazardly everywhere without a single target *2-3 bolts follow target other 2 fly off somewhere*...

basically you use regular attacks on the opponent to get those numbers above your hp up

the higher that number the more damage your hp attacks will do
