Haile selassie I Him was a good man but not the savoir of the Human race ( he said it himself he was not God) Bob learned that, But just because Jesus is your savoir doesn't make you not a Rasta. I noticed a conversation (an old one) on here I think I have an answer for. Bob Marley was baptized sometime in 1980, I think he realized That Sellasie was just a man (as selassie claimed he was just a man). Bob knew who jesus was and studied revelations with a passion. Sellasie obviously didn't fulfill the prophecies, but Sellasie was a Jah fearing man who Bob recognized. Not all Rasta's see sellasie as the savoir but some do. That's not what make you a rasta.

Correction, Bob was baptized in Jamaica as a youth. He grew to be a Rebel, in every sense of the word.

In the year of 1966, Bob was in Detroit, building cars, when Haile Selassie I came to Jamaica. Rita Marley went to see HIM, with the ultimatum that if Haile Selassie I is the Messiah, HIM would show her somehow on a personal level. It was this revelation of Rita that led Bob to RasTafari. Now in growing in faith, Bob eventually came to the realization that for him, to follow RasTafari as righteously as possible, he should be baptized in the Holy Ethiopian Orthodox Church, this is the baptism to which you refer.

Now, if you say he was baptized in 1980, you should also recall in a 1979 interview that when asked how one becomes a Rasta, he replied "first thing you must do, you must become born again (in Jesus)"

Rastafari is not seen as the Saviour, for that mission was fulfilled in Jesus Christ, Haile Selassie I is the promised return of the Messiah, marked by HIM opening up the scroll and breaking the Seven Seals thereof. It is a time where the Truth is clear and manifest, barred from humans by their own misunderstanding and misinterpretation, Selassie I brought these things to the forefront.

Further, I do not see how Selassie I did not fulfill the prophecies...?

But what I do believe he did for Jah's purpose alone kept Ethiopia Ethiopia. which was mother Africas birth name. If sellasie truly broke the seven seals how come we havent seen the result of that. Why hasnt Jah come to place judgement. Read revelations, and you will see Sellasie did none of those things. Rasafari Lion of Judah defender of the christian faith thats who selassie I was.

@Biblical I'm sure you know of the trinity which means Yahweh, Jesus, and the holy spirit were all one, but if you read the bible Jesus is very clear on who is in Charge of the show. The father. Sellasie is not the Father neither was jesus, but the Father spoke through Jesus his son. Basically what Im trying to get across is if sellasie fulfilled the prophecy we would have already gone through the tribulation and and the earths rightful ruler would be leading us today. But that has not happen

It is very noble of you that you work to spread the word of Christ Jesus.

However, there are some flaws in your comment.

First, you are right Jesus is indeed the only saviour.....

But this was the exact title given to Haile selassie I, prophecy fulfilled.

And I am sorry to say that Bob Marley never rejected Rastafari as Jah on Earth. He merely learned to overstand that one must accept Jesus as the saviour of the cross, for this was the wish of Rastafari himself. HIM commands us to be Baptised.

@MrCharlymartel Since this was a year ago I hope you have learned since than that Haile sellasie for one did not suggest to the Rastas anything, He didn't want to start quarrels so he left them alone. Second, Jah,God, Yaweh, Yeshua, Elohim, Jesus Christ, Jah Rastafari Is I am. Jah Has no face no color of any certain kind,. He is everlasting, everfaithful, and ever true. Rastas Know this.
