I lived in Perry from 2006-2007. I lived by The Beach Bar. When I first moved to Perry, a bunch of people got some kind of infection from swimming at Rocky Creek. I never did. I tried moving back to Perry last year, but the economy has gone to shit in Perry. A bunch of businesses closed, and jobs were scarce. I wound up having to move back home. Oh well. I'll try and visit again sometime.
@FloridaSlipknot No, I know where you're talking about though. I drove past it a bunch of times when I worked on the road department. I lived down by Keaton Beach, about a 5 minute drive from the coast. The Beach Bar was down by dead man's curve on Co Rt. 361.
Fabulous video of how the swimming hole used to be. Everything changes with time yet some things stay the same. The public has practically destroyed the area around the water with their dumping of trash and lack of respect for the place. Not a good place for swimming anymore..sad..there were many good times there.
There are a lot of trees and stuff submerged in The Rise now, very dangerous. That is if there is any water at all in it, we have been having a drought for like 15 years.
I live in perry and I can tell you, The Rise is not a good swimming hole, trust me, if you actually saw it you would not jump in, not to mention the kids who've died there.
Yea... Please keep in mind that this footage was shot about 15 years ago and things have changed. MANY people report that this swimming hole has gotten stagnant and algae filled since the folks in this video called it their swimming hole.
My mom grew up in perry florida I'm 16 and my cousin who's 13 that lived with my aunt my mom's sister (duh) they still live there and we visit them all the time...We go hunting fishing and get on 4 weelers...do fireworks and shit =D
can anyone tell me who died there and how because i live in perry?
