Great, reliable and affordable, but still not as good as the BMW 5 series or Infiniti M37. However this new GS is definitely a hundred step up from its lame predocessor.
IMO, the new GS is on a higher level than the new BMW 5 series. it's lighter, more maneuverable and yet more reliable and comfortable. The new 5 series has become a fat overbloated pig of a car and has become a mini-7 series in terms of driving dynamics.
@natnut2008 The new GS maybe more reliable then the 5 series but you cant compare the driving dynamics of a Lexus to a BMW. Bavarian has years of heritage & its is a pure performance oriented brand. Lexus is a great affordable product with better standards then its rivals but little is to be praised for its driving charisma. Lexus hasnt even come close to par with the excellent driving dynamics of its Japanese rival Infiniti let alone BMW. The experience is simply incomparable.
You can talk heritage and branding until you're blue in the face but the sad fact of the matter is that BMW has betrayed its own heritage by robbing the new 5 series of its steering feel. Driving it is like driving a barge, a well controlled barge admittedly but a barge nonetheless. Ironically based on previews, the new GS outhandles the new 5er.
@natnut2008 Im not trying to bring lexus into a bottomless pit of nothing, for the value & the car you get in a Lexus its far more superior in terms of quality, reliability & longevity opposed to a BMW. But once again Lexus has never been a brand to pursue performance, thier main focal point has always been comfort and refinement. Drive any Lexus and then get into a BMW and youll see how it will suffer by comparison. Lexus Insolates you from the road rather then making you feel connected to it
@Johncarson9113 And by the way my opinion is not completely biased. I am a current family owner of a 2009 Infiniti G37 sedan, 2007 BMW 328i coupe & a 2008 Lexus IS350 sedan. I favor both the Infiniti and the BMW, I love the IS but its leaves you feeling uninspired in many way in terms of its over all performance, I havent had one issue with the Lexus at all but by experience I know very well that the Lexus suffers to compare to the class leaders of performance in this segment.
