Peter Seller's son had criticized this move for being too formal. His dad did have his moments but he didn't like how Hollywood exaggerated some of his negative aspects. The sad thing was Sellers suffered from to what I heard schizophrenia.

When I learnt that Rush was to play Sellers I threw my hands up in despair - I thought no-one can play Sellers! Then I saw the film and was engrossed! I completely forgot it was Rush! I almost went into mourning when Sellers died, so soon after Being there".

@jonjamg : the acting of Rush was the best thing in this film , the film itself wasn't marvelous as that , the direction as i think was a lil bit medicore that u can easily forget the film one hour after watching it , but Geoffrey's performance i think will go as the finest portrayals of Sellers for a long time :)

Yeah, if it wasnt for rush's superb acting I dont think it would have had any shine at all. Still it was like a made for television movie, overall.

It's reminiscent of the Dark Knight scene where Joker is talking to Dent in the hospital about how if someone says a group of soldiers will lose their lives no one panics, but if someone threatens to kill the mayor, everyone loses their minds. It's all part of the plan...
