The man's enthusiasm is evident. However, his "love" for an Iran that no longer exists clouds his vision. He is like the British tyro in the 19th century who viewed historical places and confused that history with the then present-day world. I'm quite afraid Dr. Frye is no longer relevant. Bury him in Esfahan. It will do no harm.
I as an Iranian who s absolutey against americans politics would be honored if someone like mr. frye want to be buried in iran. People like him are the key for a better world...and i am very happy that he could see by hisself behind the curtain of iran
all waht he says is true, but I wonder, why not go live your last years in Isfahan instead of just being buried there...I would rather enjoy it while I'm alive...
Rich Frye should read Khayam; we all turn to compost after we die. Why it matters where we have been buried other than a symbolic gesture, which frankly does not mean much to me. He should make his fortune available to the Iranian poor, but as we all know it ends up in some Boniad places.
Richard Frye you're amazing I thank you from the bottom of my heart.I'm an Iranian myself and I know many Iranians that would never talk about my country like the way you do !
I have respect for you so much and I think we as Iranians owe you this dream !!! you deserve to rest in peace next to
this man is alright, but bury him by the cyrus the great. Arnt you exaggering just a little bit. where are you going to bury bushy if he starts to talk like this about iran? we know what we are and where we come from. Dont hold your breath as soon someone is nice towards iran.
@amoo34 In that case we could say that Christianity is also for semites (hebrews, israelites etc) since Jesus christ was of hebrew(Semitic) origin? For example... an intellectual christian Irish priest should say "hey, I'am Irish of celtic descendant and christianity is for hebrews. Judaism, Christianity and Islam are all semitic/abrahamic religions and have nothing to do with ethnical, cultural so well racial matters. We all are humen creature of GOD, and I'am proud persian muslim!
@Kamali22 - falce pride-- live and die NOT knowing u have been brain washed all your life with Izlam-- see the video on my channel called ( fall of Persians from.........)
Truly a blessed man. If anybody wants to know more about Iranian history pre-Islam, i would strongly suggest that you read The Heritage of Persia,1963, i have the first edition and it never gets old.
Dr. Frye the father of Near eastern study in Harvard university once said: " I went to Central Asia to complete my research on the history and culture of region. It was then that I realized I need to learn Farsi FIRST". Watch his clip on utube by searching
He speaks fluent Russian, German, Arabic, Persian, French, Pashto, Uzbek, and Turkish, and has extensive knowledge of Avestan, Pahlavi, Sogdian, and other Central Asian languages and dialects, both extinct and current.
I hope that confrontations end so that cross-cultural exchanges resume and people are better exposed to each others cultures. Europe choose the flawed Greek/Rome model of governance. Thomas Jefferson however, choose the old persian model. Watch "in search of Cyrus" on youtube.
Thank Mr Frye. HE is an educated man and he exactly knows Iranian history. Esfahan is historic and termendous beautiful city. No doubt that this city can become the most beautiful city in the world if some educated Iranian architectures could take care of the city. right now some old areas are under destruction thanks to uneducated mullas.
brilliant! if you could get Americans to come and see Iran with their own eyes, and Iranians to go and visit the US, most of our problems will be solved! god speed Richard! Iranian people will always remember you!
Richard Nelson Frye has been my teacher when he spent a year at Hamburg University/Germany. Last time I met him was at a Conference in Cambridge some years ago so I'm very happy to see your video and would like to underline each of his words. His nickname(laqab)in Persian is "Dooste Iran" what means "Friend of Iran". As an iranologist deeply involved in Iranian Culture I do fully understand his wish to be buried in Iran.
May Ahura Mazda bless that good man. I hope they don't have to bury him for a long long time.
