You're pulling in alot of signals.. what antenna is connected there? I used to have Tristar 777, Emperor Shogun and about 3 different Midland rigs. My antenna was a Silver Rod and a DV27 for mobile use!!
Channel 9 is for emergency communications only (police departments are supposed to monitor it). Channel 19 is the truckers' channel. Everything else is a free-for-all!
Police departments have not actively monitored Ch. 9 since the mid 80s. I know that at least 6 years ago, the Washington State Patrol had CBs in many of their cars, but they monitored 17/19 and not 9.
Oh, well thats what I figured, but I know there's tons of code words they use, and it'll take forever to pick up on it... I'd prefer to get a license for something like Ham radio...
Even the Hams come over to CB when they want to have fun on the radio, fact.
Ham radio is a fulfilling hobby, but it's all conducted business-like.
We don't use code words on CB, plain English. There are some slang words that we use, but most of those have made it into the mainstream language anyway due to the popularity of CB in the 70s and 80s. For example, the term 'pedal to the metal' is CB slang which is widely known by people who have never keyed a radio.
thats like a cobra 26ltd

@cbradioNSW a lot of radios coming out are based on cobra radios so it would seem. apperently my superstar 3900 is a replica of an old cobra.

Just some cheat RatShack antenna. I traveled 18 miles just to get it.

It's a Midland and was a great choice. But If you install an amplifier on the cable antenna you'll have a world wide C.B. radio!

Great looking Midland. It looks abit like a rebadged Cobra!!

Man, where do you find this stuff? How old is that? Also, what use is this for you?

It's brand new, bought it on NewEgg. Use, it's a mobile voice chatroom.

I'm pretty sure Ham Radio goes back before the '70s... even to the '30s and '40s. I've heard of a couple that actually met back then over it.
SCSNSE 2 years ago
Whoever said anything about that? Ham radio has been around since the birth of radio.
