  • Looks like a chevy to me... By the looks of the motor its a 4 cylinder so its no later than 1928...

  • Wow, I've got one of those!

Mine is complete, although not a whole lot better condition,

hasn't run in 50 years, but makes nice "yard art".

    1928 Chevrolet 1 Ton Truck

  • that would help bob lol hairy asses arnt cool wild old beast that is you should pull it out of there and see what ya can salvage may be a few bucks or ...

  • I would try and see if that engine would run !!!!!!!! please try !!!

  • well seeing how that was a junkyard at one time i would say it was possibly an old 1900's-1928 gm truck chassis made into a tow truck or some kind of delivery truck ya know how they sold chassis and firewalls and the owners could build the rest it looks to me to be some kind of equipment chassis whatcha waitin on bob get r done and out of there you can do it im sure

  • When we get time I'll try to get her out. I'll at least grab the engine and trans and put them in the barn. Been buttoning up the buildings, doing some road repair, etc today...and making a couple vids! Always busy or pretending to be!

  • Will do!

  • Good idea...you never know. I think it will be fun to play with...

  • I say get some friends together and unearth that thing.

  • Hell yeah...give her a try next time we have a flash party! ...flash party is when a couple people drop in...a couple more...a carload more...you know....lol

Nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd!

  • dig up that engine see if you can get it running.. that would be freaking awesome!!

  • I'm gonna...was going to today but ran out of light! Thanks!

  • Sounds cool!

  • is it stuck in the ground or what?!?

  • Yup...kinda sunk and I think the ground around it built up been there for at least 50-60 years.

  • COOL

    xx

  • It actually looks like an old tractor engine!!!

  • kinda

  • (';

  • Cool

  • i will show this vid to my old man hes in his late 80's he might know

  • Heck yeah..some of the old guys might remember them...thanks

  • i wouldnt just let it rot away outside like that

  • It might be a good winter project! There isnt much rust...just grass and trees.

  • wow bob thats Nice Find... see if that thing could fire off some starter fluid if it isnt seized. that be amazing

  • Thanks! Heck its probably 100 feet from out house. I'm sure that baby is probably siezed...but the tranny isn't? never know. I'll probably snatch the engine off it and bring it to the shop to play.

  • ya never know though it may not be seized but very possible if water go into the intake or exhaust.. i would play with that... would make awesome video. you and deb take it easy man

  • Take it easy too JT.

  • thats pretty kool man nice vid

  • Thanks Steve...should of ripped out some of the grass and stuff, would have been able to see better.

  • Drag that dude out, at least it would not have to set another winter.

  • A lot of people are telling me that. See what we can do. Sure wish we still had the backhoe...make it real easy! Maybe I set my stepson on it...lol Either that or I have a couple friends with backhoes if they can get here before the freezeup. How's it going Ben?

  • it might be a 1904 - 1906 GMC Packer manual pedal vehicle im just guseeing thats all i no and the wheels look like wooden packer wheels i dont no thats my opion

  • That's cool, will look into them too. All I know is not much about those...lol

    Thanks!

  • i'll talk to a guy this week that runs a little museum here with some of the first Buicks, Mcglaghlin's and GM in it, he'll know exactly what you got there. Probly got the original manuals for it.

  • That would be cool...thanks! Let me know what you find out!

  • ppl pat good bucks for parts, no matter the shape just so they can use it to copy them for restorations. Id be diggin that bugger out. The block is probly really rare, the bigger trucks are almost nonexistent. They all got wrecked long ago.

  • Man you guys are making me really think about getting it out. Won't be long and it will be froze in...sure wish we still had the hoe. Maybe I can at least grab the engine and trans would be fun to play with when it's 20 below. Thanks for the info...wish I woulda dug it out years ago. I think the hinged hood is in one of the barns.

  • My best guess, based on the spoked wheels, is that it is from say 1928, or much earlier if it has wooden wheels. It is probably after 1908 though I would say. This is an average of 1918, so start there. Ask museum people. Call the Forney Transportation Museum--I would. Ask old timers. If your time machine is broken down you can borrow mine.

  • A time machine would be awesome...the shit I could do, the bets I could make.

    Hmmmm

  • Your truck that you found predates me, being from 1965 myself, so please continue with your archeological dig. Maybe Ardi drove it when she was younger.

Just kidding--Ardipithecus is from about 4,400,000 years ago, tests indicate.

Seriously, have fun putting it together and restoring it!!!

  • Lmao...funny comment, informational though! Wish we still had our backhoe...would have made getting it out easy. I do think it would be fun to play with/dissassemble the engine and rebuild. Like I say ...a sandblaster, torch and socket set would be a good start..

  • it is definetly a Mcglaughlin, made in Oshawa ont. RS Mclaughlin started GM there and i was born in that city. Dig it out, i got a museum here i'll send ya some pics of the first Buicks.

  • I'll check into that's that's cool. Thought I saw a picture of it when it was in use in some old papers I found in one of the old houses here. Thanks for the info!

  • From the wheels, I'd say 10's or 20's GMC. its long right? Like larger than say a typical 90's pickup.

  • It is pretty dang long. Seems narrower then todays trucks though!

  • Yeah. drop me a PM right now if you can and I'll send you a link.

  • REBUILD IT!!!!

  • Hell yeah! That would be kinda fun. The frame was even solid last time I checked it out closely and less rusted then many 20 year old cars I have seen...lol Probably better metal back then! I thought about it. I have a sand blaster and a torch....lol Rock on Danny!

  • lol i use to sand blast 8 hours aday 5 days a week.. i hate sand blasting lol

  • YEAH!!!!

  • Hell yeah! lol

  • hah I was talkin to Danny when he said "RESTORE IT!" but that comments either gone or I can't see it. Fuckit. Pull that bitch out, Bob!!

  • My comments have been missing and screwed up since we were forced into this channel style. You guys have me tempted to dig a little deeper into this thing...lol

  • cool vid., love that old stuff, especially the parts made in america, cant keep that stuff around here anymore!! code enforcement sucks!!!

  • Thanks, love that old stuff too, just don't know very much about it. We don't have too much code enforcement to worry about here as we have a conditional use permit for junkyard and The land is C-3 commercial. I try to keep things a little in order here but I am still grandfathered in to do as I please, within reason. I have spent 10 years getting this place cleaned up to the point it is now. It was a bad mess! We cleaned up almost 500 tons of scrap and debris in the first two years.

  • deffinately from the 20's..maybe even a little older?

  • That's what I was guessing.

  • the running gear is a early 1920s chevrolet. i had origonally thought it would have been a model t or model tt ford, but ford didnt have OHV engines in those days.

the tranny is actually something i would be interested in if you wanted to sell it. it is a 4sd for a model aa ford truck like my doodlebug tractor. those are from 1928-31 and are getting harder to find

  • Wow...sounds like you know your old trucks. I found it sitting there 9-10 years ago, cut a bunch of trees out of it and checked it out. It is kinda grown in again now. Looks like it sunk in a bit more. Basically it's all there for the running gear. If you or any one needs anything, I'm sure we can figure something out. Also I have lots of original old but yet new in the box parts for the old cars and trucks. I have a barn full of old stuff from when this was still a junkyard if ever needed.

  • do you have any old old 2 or 3 spd transmissions that are still in good shape? im looking for another to put in the doodlebug so i have more than 1 granny gear. do have any other parts that would go to a model a ford? if you did, i would really be interested to know what you have

  • No trannys left that I know of except the one in the vid. If there is other wierd odds and ends, ignition kits and points I may have them new in boxes. Used to have a few starters, fuel pumps, glass bowls, wooden cignition coils, that kinda stuff. If you need a manifold or carb, that may be possible. Will need pics or numbers and discriptions. I can keep my eye out for you for parts too, I run across lots of different things at times.

  • do you have any matching chrome headlights, or those old 12v ooga horns that work?

  • That's real possible.. I'll take a look-see around in the barns tommorow, it is supposed to be a bit nicer. Maybe I can even piece together a vid showing some of the old stuff. I know I have big boxes of the old lights and stuff. We'll check it out!

  • thanks a bunch.

  • No problem...thanks for the info!

  • Its a time machine.

  • you never know...lol

  • Wooden wheels were common up until 1940 or so, but I have no idea what it could be!

I have a Mercury (Ford) truck bed from the 1960's in my back yard!

Great video, it'll be interesting if we find out what it is!
