the mats songs never get old for me. This song is as classic as they come though most people have never heard it. The magic is in the simple lyrics that convey a deep longing and the simple phrase of "I can't wait...". And those Memphis Horns are killer... but his band cover a lot of ground, check out Nightclub Jitters or Answering Machine or Swinging Party or Left of the Dial or Here Comes A Regular or Never Mind etc etc etc etc

Saw them with X at MSU in 1984. They were drunk - we were drunk - and a good time was had by all! One highlight - if you can call it that - that I distinctly remember was an epic version of the The Doors "Light My Fire" without a keyboard in sight :) As I recall, it was essentially a time killer while the Stinson brothers were fighting with each other!

The most underrated underappreciated band of all time. Many of the underground bands did not make it big because they were all image and no substance. This band had incredibly well written songs. I think they were ahead of their time.Few bands can balance hard edge music with melody the way these guys did. I still listen to them today and nothing about their music sounds dated.
