noooo... dont get from petco! those are not cbs they are farm bred for their leather not as pets and mostly have parasites when u get from petco/smart
try to find a local reptile show or find a local breeder. if you cant find any of those, find a reputable breeder and have it shipped. reptiles do very well being shipped now-a-days
Nice camera shooting of the Tegu, I watch as much as I can and soon research it a bit, before getting one. I want mine to be the perfect lizard. So it can drive my car, do my laundry...Lol jk.
mine is puppy dog tame will open her mouth if she is mad but for the most part is really nice.... hint regular handling can tame some of the most wildest animals
i even have a tame king snake they are know for being really nasty working on a rock python right now
I only had my Tegu for two weeks and he was a little hyper the first days I had him. But I bring him everywhere I go in the house, let him sit on me while I watch TV and everything. Now hes very nice and calm. He never bit anyone that he held. I pull his tail i poke him and he never hisses.
they do take some time to get used to their new surroundings and know they're not in any danger. I raised mine the same way, minus the tail-pulling and poking. Why the hell would u do that anyway? Trust me, if your tegu is a male reaching sexual maturity you WILL get your hand latched on to.
I didn't push and pull for the hell of it, it was just the one time when i got him to see if he was aggressive. Other than that I swear on it I didn't do it for the hell of it. But now I just leave him alone now that he knows me well and is tamed and he can now do whatever he likes.
Are you having any problems taming him? My bf had a columbian bc a sales person lied and said it was an argentine. He tried very hard to tame, but it was still very aggressive. We eventually got an argentine from a breeder and she's very sweet :D
Mm, yummy

Very cute. What's that red spot on his back?
Horrormaid 5 years ago
thats probably just a wood chip, hes just in a feeding box. His real cage has a wood chip substrate.
Absolutweezer6 5 years ago
ah, okay. it looked like a burn spot at first, but i use wood chips like that in my plated's tank. phew! he really is a total cutie.
