  • I always thought this should have been sung by Cat Stevens.

  • Great song!

  • Music to my ears. No chance of classics like this in today's monotone manufactured manipulated money focused music market. (sorry about the f word).

  • takes me way back to great times as a little kid with my mom dad on hols in the late 60s fantastic

  • HEARING THIS AGAIN TAKES ME RIGHT BACK TO THAT "SUMMER OF LOVE" FLOWER POWER ETC. WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT, I COULDNT QUITE FIGURE OUT WHAT IT WAS ALL ABOUT. FORTY ODD YEARS ON I STILL CANT!

  • Tesco bumped Jack off, corporate bastards!

  • MrAttPatt has no penis.stay off YouTube you dispicable speck of vomit.

  • Well that's eBay for you. Some idiot think his father being called Jack and being a grocer is so outstanding that the world needs to know. There are THOUSANDS of people in the world called Jack who work in grocery shops, I'd wager. The question is, is he a paedophile to boot? You see, called Jack AND a grocer AND a paedophile - now that would probably lessen the odds a little......

  • Yes i heard it tonight in the taxi cab and thought omg i would never have remered this song in a million years but has brought back so many memories

  • We can do dry milk and eggs. We can do more. This is about food supply. At some point food runs out. We need to realise food is not for granted.

  • Brings back memories of listening to "Stewpot" on a Saturday morning.

  • This song was in the charts when my brother died aged 14 and I was 4 . I asked when he was coming home and was told he won't come back. This still breaks my heart.

  • @CaptainBlack1965 its from a propsed musical that they never done it was going to be called ''a teenage opera'' this song was about an elderly grocer who was dying and the locals dident know where he was, the rest of the opera i dont know what it was about but i always imagined it was like oliver set somehwere in the north of england

  • fab, like a ep of heartbeat-scrumping and the copper in a moggy.the tone of the motor always gave him away . run and hide .bless the 60s

  • Grocer Jack was crushed by the new time and the supermarkets...

  • Wow - this IS high-quality (and apparently in stereo, too).

  • My name's Jack, when i was a kid my dad always played this on a LP... Lovely song :)

  • what was up with grocer jack? why was he on his back? we´re the kids starving? so many question remain unanswered, was grocer jack smacked up?

  • @robertodowneso I was very young when this came out. I knew what happened to grocer Jack. This song made me sad, all the hungry children. Same with Eleanor Rigby, all the lonely people. On reflection one wonders why they couldn't go to another store, maybe Jack gave credit.

  • @midmodgal I think there was probably only one store in the town....

  • @robertodowneso He was dead from a heart attack, not really unanswered. All you have to do is listen to the words. Not difficult.

  • @robertodowneso Grocer Jack had died.Kids starving?? no way, plenty of other shops.

  • @robertodowneso The trouble in the world, is governments, and fucking idiots like you
