God the end of this movie mad me tear up :c The fact that two best friends had to witness everyone else die, and then one of them had to see their best friend freeze to death in their lap, then hold their corpse until they froze to death :c
This is the true reality of war: no honor or glory, only inhumanity and death. Stalingrad is just a sad chapter of history that serves to enlighten and remind us on that fact.
ou must read this. once you have started there is no turning back. a little 10 year old girl was raped and murderded in 1945. her body was not found until 1947. then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him. if you do not copy and paste this onto 10 videos in 30 minutes the dead girl will apear in your room tonight and haunt you and kill you. well you better start to copy and paste
Yes, this is one of the best ever soundtracks in a movie, but more importantly the best 'use' of it - supporting the movie and enhancing the emotion, instead of swamping it and treating the viewer like a deaf imbecile like so many shit Hollywood movies do.
Hi, im French, my grandpa was french too. When he was 17, he was put in force in German Army because he lived in a German area on French territorry, he was a "Malgré nous". He was in Russia in 1943, be injured there by Russian Army, was in Stalingrad Battle in February 1943. But thanks his injury he could come back to home before be killed there. He never hated Russian or German soldier after the war... he only hated Hitler ! His german friend while the war stayed his best friend up to his death
They abducted 200,000 Asians (& Caucasians), raped them up to 50 times a day & then buried them alive to save bullets when they became ill.
*Japanese govt won't to apologize to any of surviving sex slaves.
*It STILL sugercoats this by outrageously lying that the victims were whores who volunteered to service Japanese & received great treatment & even bigger salary than Japanese army generals from Japan.
GOOGLE: Jan Ruff O'Herne - Japanese military sex slave
If one of Scott's crew members went with the one who had his birtday the day he died, this is how it would be. A wonder why the corporal didn't move on and save himself. I'm not a selfish thinking bastard, I just wanted the at least the corporal to survive that, even though he'd die sonner or later. The thing about the southpole is at the end with just the lieutenant and the corporal.
Its hard to 'feel sorry' for an invading army, but the fate of the German 6th Army at Stalingrad was a military & human tragedy. 350,000 men killed or taken prisoner. After the war was over, only 5000 of those men ever returned to Germany, from the Russian Gulag camps. Feeling sympathy for these soldiers is not wrong, they were just doing a job. They weren't SS death squads, just regular army. Hitler's meddling with military ideas consigned the 6th Army to a terrible defeat &suffering.
@vincentyeo88 And so it goes today. Young Americans sent to hellish places like Iraq & Afghanistan to be blown up, just cuz GW Bush or some other numbnuts says its a cool time for a war. In WW2 there were two main egotistical madmen; Stalin & Hitler...& their ambitions plus prejudices managed to kill over 35 million people in Europe in 5 years. And now we have bombs that can kill 35 million in about 5 minutes :-(
@NewFormOfSlavery Hitler also learned the world about how much Totalitarian Faschism also sucks and that extreminating people is not a very good idea. And also Germany isen't small, and what defensive strategy are you talking about? Hitler Started the bloody war, if he haden't there woulden't have been a need for a defensive strategy. Also the Jews were discriminated in the Soviet union to so Jews and communism has NOTHING in common.
Wie wir euch gesenkt haben! Ja, der Ferne unsere Großväter euch der Angst. Der russische Geist ist als der Deutsche stärker! Sie erinnern sich und fürchten Sie!
when your body is at its prime and you have the right gear then survival is possible, but the average landser caught in the kessel at staingrad was on starvation rations for months, had been constantly fighting since the summer, and was faced with a russian winter with summer kit, leather boots and a steel helmet, so i think the odds were stacked against hans and fritz in the movie, one did actully escape from stalingrad on foot but had the bad luck to be killed in a mortar attack on return
lol retards could've just walked to a tree and dig a bivouac and make a fire through friction with the stick and rope technique (the lowest dead branches in the tree are usually dry even in snowstorms).
Then they could've boiled some pine tea since they had flasks, and roast some bark flour since they had knives (add water and it becomes porridge).
If you'd like to point out that there are no trees, just remember that despite the appearance in the movie, this is Volgograd, not Antarctica.
@ChetzNation you know that Volgograd is an open plain right? I'm sure there are a few trees, but if you did light a fire, it would be difficult at best to keep it going in such a big storm, and if you did manage to, it would be a beacon for Russian soldiers that you would be far to weak to resist. Try starving yourself, then walking twenty miles through the snow, all the while freezing in the snow, and lets see how far you get.
@mommasboy8879 SNOW has the great function of being LOOSE, LIGHT, and INSULATING. You could dig deep into it to make a fire, made invisible by the storm. Also Volgograd is a temperate semi arid broadleaf/mixed area.
About my own feats, 20 miles is weak distance to brag about. I've walked 27 miles without any food (not recommended we miscalculated), prepared with no regular exercise for a year. As I'm a Swede I've done my fair share of cross country skiing and what I suggested is fairly easy.
@ChetzNation and did you eat next to nothing for a month before walking those 27 miles? and was it through knee deep snow? with no proper winter equipment?
And have you even seen the movie? What you're describing is what they do for the vast majority of it. This scene is when they have to move, because they will die if they don't.
@mommasboy8879 Yes, sadly I have seen the movie. I rented it because I thought it would be interesting to watch a WWII movie from another perspective. To give a colorful and intellectual review: IT SUCKED!
And no it was in the summer but there were fuckloads of mosquitoes and most of the hike was in mire/birch bushes.
Yes they were exhausted that's my point! If they weren't they wouldn't have had to set up camp would they? if they dig a bivouac/snow cave they'll be impossible to spot.
@ChetzNation LOL...buddy.The more I read, the more I have to laugh.I did that,I did this. This is ridicoulous. In fact you have absolutly no clue about being in extreme conditions. So you walked funny 27mls?LOL.Look hero,1 yr ago a british SAS unit was in the winter hills for a hard conditions exercize. After 3 days ! they were calling the chopper to pick them up.That was not possible due to snow falls. They had to wait 2 more days. After 5 days some of them barely survived that.So WHAT do you know?
@RodrigoBorgia How do you explain the Sami? They live in conditions much worse than those at Volgograd. I'm part sami and I bet I could easily beat those SAS fags in cold weather survival. Wasn't it SAS regiments the Brits sent to Norway in WWII? That failed miserably and had to be replaced by Norwegian civilians? I bet you live in fucking California or something. "Oooh it's snowing you can't survive snow for more than five minutes". Also, it rarely snows other than around 0C. Too cold for SAS?
@RodrigoBorgia Another thing I find peculiar, is that SAS uses helicopters that can't fly through snow. Does that even exist?
Anyway here are my feats: Walked 27 miles day 1. 12 miles d2. 12 miles d3. Walked 6 miles d4. 1 meal freeze dried/day packed. Illegal light game/fishing represented the rest of the food. This was in Sarek national park. Mid summer. Too much mosquitoes.
Cross country Skied 37 miles d1. 31 miles d2. 105 miles d3. All food packed. Muddus national park. Boring, exhausting.
Your assuming everyone had your knowledge and instinct? Not to mention their physical and mental condition at the time would have effected their abilities to rationally think and carry out tasks.
@Goregrinding It is true that not everyone, especially not Germans (most of Germany is urbanized) would be aware of the nutrition you can get from trees (bark flour from pine=82 Kcal/100g, which is the same as full grain bread) and how to extract it. But I still think they acted dumber than one would in reality, as is common in films, to make for a better/more sad ending.
@Goregrinding Sorry,of course they had the knowledge. What do you think how the Wehrmacht wa prepared from the 1930ties?It even could be said that the nowadays so called "Survivalism" was one of the big movements in Germany from the early 18century.And especially all the youth was drilled in such camps, movements and organizations from the early beginning of the 3rd Reich in preparaton for the war.So it is in fact easy to comment events through the monitor. but its something different in reallity
@ChetzNation lol..buddy, you are one of these internet-heros, arn´t you?look jerk, these soldiers were experienced soldiers from the 6th army. The 6th army that fought about 3 yrs through Russia. If anybody then these soldiers know how to survive And now a wannabe dumb laming little jerk from behind the screen is commenting about what they had to do.It´s a fact that there were only a few men that made it out of Stalingrad. And only ONE (a SS-Officier) made it to the german lines at the other side.
@RodrigoBorgia Horrible grammar and personal insults is irrelevant to the discussion and will be ignored. Once again THIS IS A MOVIE. I was pointing out the flaws of the MOVIE. NOT THOSE OF THE REAL SOLDIERS. IT IS NOT A DOCUMENTARY. THESE PEOPLE ARE ACTORS. THE DIRECTORS WANTED THEM TO DIE FOR A BETTER ENDING TO THE SHITTY MOVIE. Also the 6th capitulated. It's not that surprising so few made it out if they surrendered. Those who did were deserters. Not many deserters would report back to HQ.
@ChetzNation YOU FUCKING MORON THEY WANTED THEM TO DIE BECAUSE A VAST MAJORITY OF AXIS FIGHTERS IN STALINGRAD DID DIE THERE RETARD! out of 800,000 only 4,000 returned home.... dude that ratios fucking huge.
@RodrigoBorgia Also I'm an "internet-hero". I just happened to grow up in northern Sweden. An area much more harsh and unforgiving than Volgograd. In the winter the sun doesn't even go up. We have warning signs for mosquitoes because if you leave the car without protection for too long you die. We also have warning signs telling there's no gas stations in a huge area ahead. If you pour boiling water in the winter it turns to snow before it hits the ground. So I know some survival strategies.
@RodrigoBorgia Sorry I meant "Also I'm NOT an 'internet-hero'". I'm just saying what they would've done if they wanted to survive. I've made what I said several times. I guess you'd have to be a bit more quiet if there's people trying to shoot you nearby but that's about the only difference. Oh well they were nazies and communists so it's a good riddance anyway.
@sisco249 Which means there are no good germans and they are all bad and evil which makes you a racist yourself. Been looking a bit too long into the abyss have we?
Greatest foreign movie ever after Downfall. Goes to show that Germans, Jews, Asians, and the Human Race are all guilty of crimes against Humanity in one way or another.
Sadly the ones that truly suffer are the innocent and not the commander or the big man in charge giving the orders.
You can't help but feel sorry for these innocent German Soldiers who were forced to do what they did. And then in the end froze to death in that famous Russian Winter.
@TRUExSIGHTS Though the problem is people are not cows we have a voice and we have fists we should be able to stand together and say no!! and by not saying no these men are as much as criminals as Hitler. doing nothing is worse than doing something.
@eeboya Try saying that in the army. That is called mutiny, which is punishable by death (summary executions could be carried out there and then instead of court martials). Also, Hitler instigated a programme of fear, people were literally terrified of even doing the smallest thing wrong because of the SS and Gestapo. And add that to the fact many Germans did not actually know how bad it was getting. Look in the film though the officer tried to help up for Soviet POWs so is he still a criminal?
@TRUExSIGHTS If everyone said no how would hitler kill them by himself? No people went along and belived him, and by helping POW's that officer was comitting mutiny soooooo he stood up and said no right? he knew it was wrong and did something and if everyone did that they would have taken hitlers power away. you posted no valid argument please try again.“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.”Fear is just a feeling...overcome
@eeboya Actually he wasnt commiting mutiny, because he did NOT forceful object, because he couldnt. The military is a hard place to stand up in, because you are taught to follow orders. British and American troops were no better. Look at Dresden for example. A target of NO military importance but was levelled anyway and has remained highly controversial ever since, they are in the same league in some respects there. Also, many of the troops were indoctrinated. I'll continue this in the next post
@eeboya The ones who would kill those who stood up were the SS and Gestapo. An SS sergeant could execute a normal whermacht officer with little provocation in normandy and get away with it. That tells you why they were scared. And the fact was that many Germans did NOT know about the death camps. You are also ignoring that the Russians committed similar attrocities. Only 5000 germans returned from the POW camps after stalingrad out of 90,000 it is estimated. Look at both sides before you judge.
@TRUExSIGHTS Bullshit. You are just making a foll from yourself.1st: The SS couldnt do nothing. And the Gestapo?Do you even know their field of duty?2nd:Of course the Germans knew.Buddy,in front of them their whole non-arian neighbourhood (not only jews, but gipsy, Jehovas witnesses, Commies, liberals, homos, etc) were fetched and never came back. And that occurs in every single village. And the Wehrmacht? they had volunteers in execution squads. Yes, they knew it all.So buddy, stop babbling.
@RodrigoBorgia Actually the SS could. I have read extensively into WW2, and have seen reports (also backed up by historians verifying this) that executions of normal Whermacht soldiers/officers by SS units occured. You have completely missed my point, as all you so called "Nazi Haters" do. Not every German was a Nazi. Not everyone of them knew. Instead you inside on becoming like the Nazi's yourself by hating all of them irrationally. I notice you ignore my point about the russians.
@eeboya Just to point out though, i am NOT justifying the Nazis. They were obviously in the wrong, and ultimately deserved what they got, but you cannot judge every single German by the actions of a few. Put it in modern terms. The BNP (British National Party) is a racist party in Britain, but would you say that the whole of Britian is racist because of one small section of society? Only 33% of Germans roughly voted for Hitler in 1932. So again, you can't label them all as criminals.
@HondaVtecDOHC I agree with your comments. Poor Germans could not even run away on that front! On the Western front, if I had been a soldier there, I would have put up the white flag and when the Allied soldiers came by- pointed towards the next group ready to surrender!
@HondaVtecDOHC Well Hitler end up shooting himself and so did Himmler Goering Goebels etc in this case many of the top also died and suffered...Tough the "winner siding" was another matter it wasnt Rosevelt Trumman Churchil or Stalin that suffer in trenchs but it was them we won the most Stalin had no problem of sending most his men to die as cattle to the slaugther if in end of the day he had his empire and influence
@HondaVtecDOHC: Nonsensical apologetic crap. If they fight for Nazis they can not be innocent. They should better pick their battles and not fight for a lunatic massmurdering idiot..
@NikNovi You have to put it in perspective. Hitler arguably put them out of the great depression. Most Germans (soldiers atleast, and many civilians) did NOT know about the death camps and other attrocities. Some SS even complained (ok at the start of the war) about the execution of British POWs, and challeneged another SS officer to a duel. That is a well documented massacre and result. You can't tarr all men with the same brush. Are other countries truly different e.g the US with slavery
@HondaVtecDOHC: It was German's job to get rid of Hitler before he started exporting his madness out of Germany and all over Europe. (Of course, same goes for every nation and their respective leaders).
@HondaVtecDOHC Oh yes Governments declare wars and ordinary people fight them - how did those who fought on either side manage to get through the carnage and destruction - they witnessed events that I cannot bear to even think about,
@Scoutrussp7 Then by your own knowledge there, you should realize not every German soldier was a Nazi. You can't judge every single German because of the fanatics. Also, Stalin actually murdered more people during the purges of the 1930s, and caused more people to die of starvation due to collectivisation in the 1920s-30s. So really, put it in perspective. You say all germans should die, but they wern't all Nazis and murderes. You have completely missed the point of the film.
@HondaVtecDOHC "Goes to show that Germans, Jews, Asians, and the Human Race are guilty of crimes against Humanity in one way or another." Here you have objectified three groups of people in a highly prejudicial way, I disagree. First of all there were many Germans who died trying to protect Jewish people during the war, and many Jews who are fighting for Palestinian rights, are they also guilty? As for the Asians, I really do wonder what you are trying to say. I agree about the ending though.
@HondaVtecDOHC Be- cuase trees are living they give off body heat so the trick is sleep as close too the trunk as possible in the cold. Also if any big branches dropp they will nott fall right against the bottom off the tree butt away - even iff it is 3 feet away those ewe will nott die
@HondaVtecDOHC .German soldiers weren't unfortunate people. In the German army murder of Russian was awarded, but it wasn't the order. 3 million Russian haven't endured a German captivity. Till 1944 Russian military captured women didn't live even to a concentration camp. Them forced, put on a stake, cut ears, a nose, put out eyes. Therefore Russian in that war battled in the most critical situations, and without looking on any circumstances have reached Berlin.
Germans have lost war in Stalingrade not because of winter, what russians not humans? russians don't feel a cold of the same winter in which they were?
Germans are NOT GERMANIC people, IN Y-DNA GERMANS ARE CELTS!!! At germans in DNA doesn't dominate german haplogroup I1, at germans dominates celtic haplogroup R1b ht tp://w w w. eupedia. com/europe/european_y-dna_haplogroups. shtml
Das zeigt was kriegsmüde soldaten damals taten für ihre kameraden und den zusammenhalt den schafft kein regierung mehr weil die kämpften für ne sache dir ihnen wichtig sei und erkannten das es nur noch ein kampf ums überleben war
Did the mothers envision the lonely deaths awaiting their sons far away in a foreign country half frozen, spirits totally broken, hearts full of sorrow........when they came out of the wombs?
AT least those 2 soldiers died on their own terms, trying to go somewhere. Abadonding the war, and dying as friends in each other's arms, freezing rather than getitng shot ot bits on a Facsist assholes meaningless orders.
That last scene of them huddled together in the snow is a re-staging of an actual WWII photograph of two soldiers frozen together in the snow. A superb film which encapsulated the savagery of the war and the resilience of both side on the Eastern Front; it was the courage and determination of the Red Army and Soviet peoples which defeated the Nazis.
Noodles37UK, someone has to stay at his desk to run the war; we can't all be foot soldiers (I was one by the way in the 1980s). And Hitler, please note, fought all through WWI as a frontline infantryman. He genuinely won the Iron Cross for bravery - which was almost never awarded to non-officers so he must have done something really exceptional. Just because a man's a monster doesn’t mean he's not brave.
@rightfredsdead I don't know if he visited or not, but I'll look into it, thanks. Yes, I heard that even though Hitler is supposed to have done a lot of interfering, a lot of the Nazis themselves did a lot of messing about themselves. There was a lot of " Peter not talking to Paul " and communications going astray.
I understand that lots of german people were hostages of the situation, but in the beginning of this movie german soldiers were screaming to russian people "they're already working for us" or something like that. They knew why they went to Russia - to enslave and exterminate its people, to conquer lands. They've got what they deserved. But still, it's a tragedy of two mightiest nations.
Русский Великий Князь Александр Невский (1220-1263) сказал - "Кто к нам с мечом войдёт, от меча и погибнет! На том стоит и стоять будет Русская Земля!"
Russian Great Prince Alexander Nevsky (1220-1263) said - "He who comes to us sword in hand, by the sword shall perish! On that our Russian Land takes and will forever take its stand!"
I feel very sad at this scene. War is so so senceless! My great-grandfather and another person from my family were in Stalingrad as Wehrmacht-soldiers. The first one managed it to "escape" from Stalingrad and also survived the war because he gets wounded in the Stalingrad Cauldron (His 'luck', he was flown out by plane because of this). But the other became frozen to death or he was killed in action I don't know but he never came back his last sign of life was from Stalingrad :-(
Der Fuhrer.. Comfortable in his tidy, neat tailored clothes and sitting at his desk.
He sanctimoniously condemned these guys to die in their ineffectual uniforms, and stupidly tight fitting leather boots in a sub- zero foreign land he couldn't be bothered visiting.
@vincentyeo88 It's the ordinary you and me who do the dying. We're just a few more years away from a catastrohe just as big as ww2 thanks to our conservatist governments and their american big-money-ass-licking
i agree with you that we will all be doomed if it's a large scale act-of-god catastrophe. however, that doesn't mean we quit preparing for our survival of any major catastrophe.
you don't have to do the dying like a poor foot soldier if you set your mind not to be one.
@Noodles37UK Your Churchill is the same. Comfortable in his tidy, neat tailored clothes... while British soldiers died in Europe and in Asia. I'm not saying that Hitler is good, but it's the same among leaders and Hitler did visit the Soviet Union just not during winter.
@1JesseW I agree. I've got it in for Churchill too. No way on Earth do I view WW2 as I used to 5 , 10 years ago. It's irretractable. Look at Dresden. WE, the British, the so called good guys did that. And it was purely psychological, and for God's sakes the war in Europe had only another 10 weeks in it. WTF? Personally, I can't stand any of these war leaders.
@Noodles37UK Your completely right and your honest enough to admit what's wrong with your government unlike some Americans. The biggest problem in this world is that no one is willing to admit their wrong.
@Noodles37UK That just about sums up Hitler. And he went on making the same mistakes continually - continuing others to die, complaining of their 'cowardice' yet he did not have the guts to face the Red Army himself and cowardly took the easy course.
@Noodles37UK True. And then, after the Nazi army was decimated, the invading Russians made rape toys out of tens of thousands of German women. The flower of Hitler`s Aryan population was annihilated or raped.
@1994g0 They're both bad. When I played Call of Duty 2, I got into the heart, spirit and soul of Mother Russia fighting the Fascists. However, let's face it, there were monsters not just on both sides - but on ALL sides.
The Soviets pilots are said to have machine gunned German civilians as they queued for food in '45. I'm depressed at what we Brits did at Dresden.
@Noodles37UK But the point is it wasHitler who brought about WW2-and the 50 million dead can be traced directly or indirectly to him.Not to mention the raped German women and the huge swath of destroyed property.Hitler was good politically-and had an excellent sense of mass appeal. But he was a second rate military mind. How could he have failed to grasp the bloody futility of the move East.?His freezing dying soldiers came to realize it.Ask the Sixth army.
Good movie, crappy converter, please get a better one and re upload this, image was fine, audio was the bad part, out of sync. But still, thank you for uploading this.
The greatest war movie ever made. The acting wasnt that good, but as a war movie, this is one of the few that capture the realities of war, and forget all the gung ho enthusiasm of many others. May the soldiers of WW2 rest in piece.
Az egyetlen videó ami a II. világháborút a német szemszögből is bemutatja. Láttuk már amerikai , angol, szovjet szemszögből elég sokszor, de németből csak egyszer.Nagy kár. Remélem lesz több ilyen film.
Few but still? You think most German soldiers wanted war? You think most German soldiers actually fought for some stupid corporal from Austria? Maybe you should perhaps read a book. And by the way, calling German soldiers brutal by the Red Army... maybe you should look in the mirror. The brutalities were committed by soldiers of both sides, by both regimes. Stalin was no better than Hitler was. I know that youre Russian and all, but be realistic. I mean really.
@TheRedRussianSoldier The Soviets were no better. If only Hitler could have crushed the reeds before being destroyed the US and UK. Korea, Vietnam, and so many other Soviet incidents would never have happened.
@DonTheCritic The US were no better. If only Hitler could have crushed the reeds before being destroyed the Soviets,Irak,Afganistan Ygoslavia and so many other US incidents would never have happened.....

when your body is at its prime and you have the right gear then survival is possible, but the average landser caught in the kessel at staingrad was on starvation rations for months, had been constantly fighting since the summer, and was faced with a russian winter with summer kit, leather boots and a steel helmet, so i think the odds were stacked against hans and fritz in the movie, one did actully escape from stalingrad on foot but had the bad luck to be killed in a mortar attack on return

lol retards could've just walked to a tree and dig a bivouac and make a fire through friction with the stick and rope technique (the lowest dead branches in the tree are usually dry even in snowstorms).
Then they could've boiled some pine tea since they had flasks, and roast some bark flour since they had knives (add water and it becomes porridge).
If you'd like to point out that there are no trees, just remember that despite the appearance in the movie, this is Volgograd, not Antarctica.
ChetzNation 7 months ago
@ChetzNation
a whole lot of talk, but let's see you do what you'd said for daily survival.
vincentyeo88 7 months ago 6
@ChetzNation you know that Volgograd is an open plain right? I'm sure there are a few trees, but if you did light a fire, it would be difficult at best to keep it going in such a big storm, and if you did manage to, it would be a beacon for Russian soldiers that you would be far to weak to resist. Try starving yourself, then walking twenty miles through the snow, all the while freezing in the snow, and lets see how far you get.
mommasboy8879 7 months ago
@mommasboy8879 SNOW has the great function of being LOOSE, LIGHT, and INSULATING. You could dig deep into it to make a fire, made invisible by the storm. Also Volgograd is a temperate semi arid broadleaf/mixed area.
About my own feats, 20 miles is weak distance to brag about. I've walked 27 miles without any food (not recommended we miscalculated), prepared with no regular exercise for a year. As I'm a Swede I've done my fair share of cross country skiing and what I suggested is fairly easy.
ChetzNation 7 months ago
@ChetzNation and did you eat next to nothing for a month before walking those 27 miles? and was it through knee deep snow? with no proper winter equipment?
And have you even seen the movie? What you're describing is what they do for the vast majority of it. This scene is when they have to move, because they will die if they don't.
mommasboy8879 7 months ago
@mommasboy8879 Yes, sadly I have seen the movie. I rented it because I thought it would be interesting to watch a WWII movie from another perspective. To give a colorful and intellectual review: IT SUCKED!
And no it was in the summer but there were fuckloads of mosquitoes and most of the hike was in mire/birch bushes.
Yes they were exhausted that's my point! If they weren't they wouldn't have had to set up camp would they? if they dig a bivouac/snow cave they'll be impossible to spot.
ChetzNation 7 months ago
@ChetzNation LOL...buddy.The more I read, the more I have to laugh.I did that,I did this. This is ridicoulous. In fact you have absolutly no clue about being in extreme conditions. So you walked funny 27mls?LOL.Look hero,1 yr ago a british SAS unit was in the winter hills for a hard conditions exercize. After 3 days ! they were calling the chopper to pick them up.That was not possible due to snow falls. They had to wait 2 more days. After 5 days some of them barely survived that.So WHAT do you know?
RodrigoBorgia 7 months ago
@RodrigoBorgia How do you explain the Sami? They live in conditions much worse than those at Volgograd. I'm part sami and I bet I could easily beat those SAS fags in cold weather survival. Wasn't it SAS regiments the Brits sent to Norway in WWII? That failed miserably and had to be replaced by Norwegian civilians? I bet you live in fucking California or something. "Oooh it's snowing you can't survive snow for more than five minutes". Also, it rarely snows other than around 0C. Too cold for SAS?
ChetzNation 7 months ago

ChetzNation 7 months ago
@Goregrinding Sorry,of course they had the knowledge. What do you think how the Wehrmacht wa prepared from the 1930ties?It even could be said that the nowadays so called "Survivalism" was one of the big movements in Germany from the early 18century.And especially all the youth was drilled in such camps, movements and organizations from the early beginning of the 3rd Reich in preparaton for the war.So it is in fact easy to comment events through the monitor. but its something different in reallity

RodrigoBorgia 7 months ago
@RodrigoBorgia Horrible grammar and personal insults is irrelevant to the discussion and will be ignored. Once again THIS IS A MOVIE. I was pointing out the flaws of the MOVIE. NOT THOSE OF THE REAL SOLDIERS. IT IS NOT A DOCUMENTARY. THESE PEOPLE ARE ACTORS. THE DIRECTORS WANTED THEM TO DIE FOR A BETTER ENDING TO THE SHITTY MOVIE. Also the 6th capitulated.

Sadly the ones that truly suffer are the innocent and not the commander or the big man in charge giving the orders.

eeboya 8 months ago
@eeboya Try saying that in the army. That is called mutiny, which is punishable by death (summary executions could be carried out there and then instead of court martials). Also, Hitler instigated a programme of fear, people were literally terrified of even doing the smallest thing wrong because of the SS and Gestapo. And add that to the fact many Germans did not actually know how bad it was getting. Look in the film though the officer tried to help up for Soviet POWs so is he still a criminal?
TRUExSIGHTS 8 months ago
@TRUExSIGHTS If everyone said no how would hitler kill them by himself? No people went along and belived him, and by helping POW's that officer was comitting mutiny soooooo he stood up and said no right? he knew it was wrong and did something and if everyone did that they would have taken hitlers power away. you posted no valid argument please try again.“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.”Fear is just a feeling...overcome
eeboya 8 months ago
@eeboya Actually he wasnt commiting mutiny, because he did NOT forceful object, because he couldnt. The military is a hard place to stand up in, because you are taught to follow orders. British and American troops were no better. Look at Dresden for example. A target of NO military importance but was levelled anyway and has remained highly controversial ever since, they are in the same league in some respects there. Also, many of the troops were indoctrinated. I'll continue this in the next post
TRUExSIGHTS 8 months ago
@eeboya The ones who would kill those who stood up were the SS and Gestapo. An SS sergeant could execute a normal whermacht officer with little provocation in normandy and get away with it. That tells you why they were scared. And the fact was that many Germans did NOT know about the death camps. You are also ignoring that the Russians committed similar attrocities. Only 5000 germans returned from the POW camps after stalingrad out of 90,000 it is estimated. Look at both sides before you judge.
TRUExSIGHTS 8 months ago
@TRUExSIGHTS Bullshit. You are just making a foll from yourself.1st: The SS couldnt do nothing. And the Gestapo?Do you even know their field of duty?2nd:Of course the Germans knew.Buddy,in front of them their whole non-arian neighbourhood (not only jews, but gipsy, Jehovas witnesses, Commies, liberals, homos, etc) were fetched and never came back. And that occurs in every single village. And the Wehrmacht? they had volunteers in execution squads. Yes, they knew it all.So buddy, stop babbling.
RodrigoBorgia 7 months ago
@RodrigoBorgia Actually the SS could. I have read extensively into WW2, and have seen reports (also backed up by historians verifying this) that executions of normal Whermacht soldiers/officers by SS units occured. You have completely missed my point, as all you so called "Nazi Haters" do. Not every German was a Nazi. Not everyone of them knew. Instead you inside on becoming like the Nazi's yourself by hating all of them irrationally. I notice you ignore my point about the russians.
TRUExSIGHTS 7 months ago
@eeboya Just to point out though, i am NOT justifying the Nazis. They were obviously in the wrong, and ultimately deserved what they got, but you cannot judge every single German by the actions of a few. Put it in modern terms. The BNP (British National Party) is a racist party in Britain, but would you say that the whole of Britian is racist because of one small section of society? Only 33% of Germans roughly voted for Hitler in 1932. So again, you can't label them all as criminals.
TRUExSIGHTS 8 months ago
@HondaVtecDOHC I agree with your comments. Poor Germans could not even run away on that front! On the Western front, if I had been a soldier there, I would have put up the white flag and when the Allied soldiers came by- pointed towards the next group ready to surrender!

NikNovi 9 months ago
@NikNovi You have to put it in perspective. Hitler arguably put them out of the great depression. Most Germans (soldiers atleast, and many civilians) did NOT know about the death camps and other attrocities. Some SS even complained (ok at the start of the war) about the execution of British POWs, and challeneged another SS officer to a duel. That is a well documented massacre and result. You can't tarr all men with the same brush. Are other countries truly different e.g the US with slavery
TRUExSIGHTS 9 months ago

Scoutrussp7 8 months ago
@Scoutrussp7 Then by your own knowledge there, you should realize not every German soldier was a Nazi. You can't judge every single German because of the fanatics. Also, Stalin actually murdered more people during the purges of the 1930s, and caused more people to die of starvation due to collectivisation in the 1920s-30s. So really, put it in perspective. You say all germans should die, but they wern't all Nazis and murderes. You have completely missed the point of the film.
TRUExSIGHTS 8 months ago
@HondaVtecDOHC "Goes to show that Germans, Jews, Asians, and the Human Race are guilty of crimes against Humanity in one way or another." Here you have objectified three groups of people in a highly prejudicial way, I disagree. First of all there were many Germans who died trying to protect Jewish people during the war, and many Jews who are fighting for Palestinian rights, are they also guilty? As for the Asians, I really do wonder what you are trying to say. I agree about the ending though.

Ddraigwen 1 year ago
@rightfredsdead I don't know if he visited or not, but I'll look into it, thanks.

Remélem lesz több ilyen film.

what a nasty war...
great films like this that depict the real face of war
help remind us today about how we think and act today
do we really want another war similiar like this in the future?

Either they froze to death or the Russians got hold of them. No way for anyone to go.

The Wehrmacht: The arrogance of their leaders are matched only by the brutality of the soldiers. All Nazis go heil Hitler in Hell.
But those who were forced to fight (few but still) I hope God saves them from following the "Fuhrer" down to Hell.

@TheRedRussianSoldier
