Even though this is considered a "spiritual" song, there is no way this song could be sung at a Catholic mass. Only songs that have been approved to be included in the Missal can be sung.

That being said, the fact that this particular performer has the same name as me is worth 1000 points alone!!!

Is this melody lifted from Al Hirt's Java? Anyway, you can sing these lyrics to the first part of Java, and Spervy seems to be very inluenced / inspired by that song!

Absolutely the best jazz group ever, bar none. Individually and together, their voices take a back seat to no one. I remember being in the audience of a few of their live concerts and being astounded at the electricity coming off that stage from them - I'm talking about the original group with Tim, Paul, Janis, and Cheryl. They put on an amazing concert you didn't want to end.
