  • haha ik hoorde keutel op het laatste van de uitspraak :D

  • @andyvw666 ja die maakte der jeutekeutel van haha

  • GO JAN!

  • hahaha trop bien!

  • @dzjoer, two things:

    1. It's "News Anchor" and not "News Anker"

    2. The pronunciation of Eyjafjallajökull was rather slow but almost perfect

So I guess we can conclude you made a couple of mistakes but he didn't :P

  • @deebug Thanks for the info :)

    1. You're right. This was a matter of Dunglish or Nenglish: in Dutch it is "nieuwsanker".

    2. An Icelandic friend of mine found his pronunciation hilarious.

    3. In my eyes he didn't. Jan never ever makes mistakes in my own private little universe ;)

  • @dzjoer Een nieuwsanker?

  • wow, a tongue twister if I ever heard/saw one..its like town names in Wales

  • the UK reporters suck at it because they're the main ones who are actually trying (and failing) the reporters here in the US either avoid the word altogether or they get an Icelandic native to say it for them.

  • I come from Iceland and that is by far the best pronunciation of the word I've ever heard from someone who is not Icelandic. All the reporters from UK fail big time with the word.

  • @Koppz619

    that's our Jan! :D

  • @Koppz619 That's how our Jan does the job!

  • Etna-- ?? How did he come up with that.

  • @MrSteelRod6 hahahahaha word

  • even I can pronounce that name, and btw my native language is not germanic, though it should be hard for me but it is not :)

  • In Belgium he's quite famous for his over-the-top English pronunciation :)

  • Quite good, but it's not Etna :)

  • @toresbe He probably noticed that after a while, when he made that short break, thinking "I exercised the whole day and still messed it up" ;-)

    Can you pronounce it? ^^

  • @Kazu89 Naturlijk! But then again, I speak Norwegian, which is kinda' sorta' related. :)

  • @toresbe And even Dutch? Helemaal niet slecht maar ik ben... duits :-)

You record it for me? Once slow and once at normal pace, please :-) I wanna see if you're better at it than me : )

In Norwegian, do you also have the -ll- sound?

  • @Kazu89 Ik heb tien maanden in een flaamstalige part van Belgie gewoont; maar mijn Vlaams is helaas erg roestig! :) Sure, I can make a recording tomorrow.

  • prety discent compare to other news ankers in UK
