algae can build up when exposed to sun light you can, use a scrubby and scrub it out the tank pretty easy, it your getting it in your gravel- adjust your flood valve so as not fill the grow bed so high.
Hello. I like your set up. I've heard pro's and cons of using swimming pools, how has yours worked out? I've heard that the chemicals in the pools liner can kill your fish. I've seen other videos of people using the pools so I was just curious as to if you've had any problems with this.
the pool lasted about a year and i changed to a 300 gal tank for durability a lot of people are using bill board signs, they can get them for free and are really strong.
I didn't have any fish die or get sick from liner chems.
Why not use a siphon instead of a toilet plunger? There are several reasons. The primary being adjustablity to the system. By using a toilet valve being pulled open by a counterweight one can operate a system with a much wider range of flow rates and as such set up a change in cycle times as needed or desired. Siphons have a narrower window of function that the Flood Valve can operate outside of. Also with the system I invented (Barrel-Ponics) you can also easily adjust the cycle volume.
Bees are doing great, they need the water it make comb and regulate the hive I have we about 11 hives.

My water is green like what you have in your tank, in your new tank you found a way to get away from that?

would setting your barrel halves up like a stair-case use gravity to get more out of your system? keeping the h2o moving like in a stream?

You might try putting more space between the barrels to give additional room for foliage growth.

why not just use a siphon instead of the toilet plunger valve setup? You can replace that toilet valve contraption with a simple tube..
