one time, i took 10 hits of acid in 1 nite. for a couple hours, i lay in a fetal position and i couldn't move. all i was able 2 see was a thin line of red/green dots. and all i kept imagining was being a vegetable 4ever.... :S
Some scientist took these drugs and this was the 'sensory deprivation' experiments they use on Terrorist in Guantanimo bay right now, the stress of the drugs and the sensory deprivation torture created some sort of psychic phenemona, telekinetic energy on a massive scale, growing more and more conscious, defined.
I absolutely LOVE this movie but I really don't like the epilogue...it is too optimistic, too "my-love-will-save-you". I'd prefer a f**king apocalypse!!
ok, i get every time more convinced that this film or movie or intent of movie or whatever u wanna call this thing, is HORRIBLE i mean, when i watch this for first time on CineMax, i was like W T F is this O . M . F . G is this serioulsy? or is like scary movie a joke of a real movie? but now i realize that this is a real movie and is one of worst movies i ever seen and weird movies i ever seen.. indeed is like watchin some shit to get drug into it.

Do you know that feeling when your disappointment turn into a sudden laugh?
Like when you, e.g. got someone to buy you sth in the grocery and he totally misunderstood you?
After great 1st part, where a scientist's trail of a possible schizophrenia medicine leads him to some metaphysical experiences (love 'Blueberry') and some philosophical earlier problems awaits their conclusions, in the 2nd part I'm suddenly finding myself watching a crazy monkey-lab-escape class B horror movie:D
@cykcykcykcykbum That seems to be how all the "classic" horror movies work. They promise, in the first act, to address urgent philosophical problems of modern life. By the third act they're just about body panic and spewing fluids.
I still love this movie though. (Ape Scientist on the Rampage is a classic movie trope.)
I remember seeing this on TV when I was a kid - was pretty scary stuff even edited down. And I don't think this is ALL of the final scene. I remember William Hurt struggling to reclaim human form, banking his deformed arm on the walls ...
yea it sure is, well some science we shouldn't mess with too much, genetics....if we mess with dna and spawn some kinda freakish new race that wipes us out, heck who knows what secrets dna holds.
The screams in the scene where he painfully and horifically devolved into that fucking disgusting looking 'Blob' was haunting and strangely satisfying to see him suffer.
Great Film. Which depicts not only science fiction, but science fact. Too bad this film wasn't geared more toward science fact, with the drugs of choice. No chance of transgression, maybe in the head, but not physically.
@eltiodeaca In terms of sheer weirdness; ERASERHEAD, THE FLY(86) 2001; A SPACE ODYSSEY, SLAUGHTERHOUSE FIVE, THE HOLY MOUNTAIN, EL TOPO, FIGHT CLUB. THE MASK (1961)
@eltiodeaca If you end up watching 'Eraserhead' by David Lynch, make sure you watch it on LSD for your first time...i'm telling you, it's meant to be watched on acid.
It's based a lot on the work of John C. Lily, who pioneered the isolation tank, use of LSD, communication between humans and dolphins, and "altered states."
Yeah, basically he was regressing enough that he was basically digging back through time and evolution... and what he was experiencing started externalizing. Very trippy movie. I was a kid when it came out and I remember seeing one scene and it scared the crap outta me heheh.
The guy who did the make-up in this film was the same one who did the make-up in William Friedkin's "The Exorcist" (1973); that is apparent in the scene where Dr. Jessop devolves into a primal human which resembles the make-up Linda Blair wore for a demonically-possessed Regan. ; )
This is an amazing piece of film.

Remake with CGI?!? Are you nuts?!? There is no need to remake a classic like this. NO REMAKES!

his entheogen of choice, however, was ketamine--a powerful dissociative psychedelic that can induce complete seperation of mind and body
